I'm waiting for better Sept 30th fares and today the morning flight became "unavailable" for all fares except the most expensive. Has anyone seen these fares open back up? I'm now concerned that we will miss our Chef Mickey dinner....What do I do? :confused3

In my experience, I haven't seen their fares open back up, but maybe someone else has. Good luck.

I saw it happen once. I am not sure if ALL of the fare classes were "unavailable" except the most expensive, or just the decent ones, but I remember going back in for my daily check, and it had opened back up. People do cancel and change dates, the only thing I would recommend is that you check every day. If that is the case (cancellations cause a fare to open up) there may be only a few seats at the low price and if you don't grab them quickly someone else will!
Just a thought, have you tried putting in a fewer # of people to see if there are ANY seats available at a better fare? Good luck!

I also saw fares reopen at the lower fare one time........I think you stand a better chance of this happening if the flight originates at your airport and is a nonstop flight. However, the one time I saw it happen it was only about three weeks before we were flying and I was checking on a daily basis and I seem to remember a lot of higher fares being available on that flight. I think the airline was simply trying to fill more seats to avoid having an almost empty plane or having to cancel the flight.

yep I only seen it happen a few times as well .Thats why you should always grab your day and TIME you really want .Then adjust if lower price or Ding comes along.

From my airport BWI they have 1974 people average per day going to MCO thats a lot of compition for my desired time.

Check it out here for your area and price.

Thanks for the insight. I'll keep a close watch and hope for the best. I'll also try to get later Chef Mickey ressies, but I haven't had much luck at that yet - they are full!!

Thanks again.

I truly doubt it will open back up, but that's just my opinion of course. Flight is getting fairly full, thus the reason they can now ask a higher price. This is the reason I always purchase my SW tickets as soon as my dates open up, getting the flight I want is more important than possibly saving a few dollars later on.

Theres always a chance.... I was actually extremly lucky and the flight I wanted was booked for a while . I checked like everyday and was soo upset I almost gave up and went with Jetblue, but I had to look jsut once more and what do you know two seats were available on a flight that had been unavailable for a very long time. It was an early flight and a weekend which is the busiest. Keep checking with SW you never know people can cancel anytime since it isnt like other airlines that give penalties. :thumbsup2

I don't know about fares opening back up. But back in Jan/Feb when I was watching SWA site all the time, I did notice that some flights would immediately come up as "unavailable" when the dates were first released. As the flight date got closer, then I would see a Ding where those flights were suddenly available.

Also you may have to break up your reservation and check your flight for one or two reservations at a time. That happened to me once. I needed seats for 4 but couldn't get the lower price. I put 1 down and lo and behold it opened up. I dogged SW three times a day every day and finally got my price, but I book some at the higher price to make sure we had seats on the same flight, then took an airline credit when I got it lower. I had 3 different confirmations just going out! (one was for 2 people) But I had a credit of over $400 that I used on a later flight. :goodvibes

But this does not always work and I was prepared to pay the higher prices if necessary I just didn't like it.

I was looking for flights on Sept 30 too, and the one flight I was lookinh at was unavailable the following day. :sad2: So I was bummed, but the next day it opened up again. :cool1: This actually happened a couple ofdays in a row. Good Luck

When SW first showed Aug and Sept PHL to MCO they were $107. The first AM flights were marked gone at that price. Then about a month later they changed and were open up at $79 to $99.
