SWA June watch

Thanks Sue!

So, I'm guessing you couldn't reserve one trip, wait for a better price, cancel that trip, then use the credit to re-reserve the same trip at the better price? Does the credit have to be used for a future trip?

Thanks!

that is exactly what you CAN do with SWA. Once you make your first reservation, if the price goes down, you go to their site, select modify reservation, plug in the reservation number and tweek the reservation. Then, when the reservation has been changed it will show you what credit amount you have. The credit is linked to the reservation number so file it away properly.

Sue mentioned calling since it is often only 1 or 2 spots open up at a time, so she must call to ungroup (for lack of a better word) her first reservation, so she can modify them one at a time.

We are a family of 5, and I have had a lot of luck rebooking all our flights at the same time. We paid $577. RT from Chicago to Orlando during Chirstmas vacation for ALL 5 of us. I first booked at 1100, then rebooked at $877, then rebooked again for $577. All 5 of us, all at once. You can even tweek the dates a bit... Now sometimes, it pays to cancel first, then rebook, because canceling opens up more seats, but that is risky.

Then when you make another reservation (up to a year after the ORINIGAL reservation was made, give or take) you put the old reservation number in the spot where is stays 'credit' or something like that... ticketless travel funds maybe... lol anyway, then it deducts your credit and tells you your remaining balance.

BTW, one should always book the first fare your willing to pay, because the fact is it may NOT go down. Most do, but it would suck if you booked, and couldnt get a discount, and were counting on it budget wise... ya know??

HTH

That is AMAZING that they allow that! Alrighty then, I'm booking them at this price, and going from there. It's cheaper than any other airline has returned, and even without it going down, we're willing to pay that amount.

If it does go down, we can use the credits toward my daughter's visitation flights. :earsboy:

Thanks for the info!!!

Here's another tip for SWA.... as the date for the next window opening up ( hopeful fare decreases) draws near, set the SWA reservation page as your homepage, so it is the first thing that greets you, and easy to jump back to a zillion times a day! LOL

"Sue mentioned calling since it is often only 1 or 2 spots open up at a time, so she must call to ungroup (for lack of a better word) her first reservation, so she can modify them one at a time. "

Laura - That is exactly what I did. :teeth: When I change a reservation I am both on the phone and on the computer. The staff at SW are always so nice and helpful. They always walk me through it. In fact they are canceling while I am making the new one so by the time I get to the pay section my credit is there waiting for me! :cool1:

Bringing this thread back around...

I almost bought tickets the other night on American, but talked myself into waiting for SW to open up. I really want non-stop, and SW offers more opportunities for that. Come on SWA... :surfweb:

I havent even looked at other airlines yet.... but I am checking SWA a million times a day. I know fares prolly wont be out until next month, I just cant help myself!!
