SWA Fare Watch

Does anyone know when SW prices will affect other airlines like Song & Jetblue? I know they try to stay competitive, but I was wondering how long it takes for them to change their rates as well.

In the meantime. I'm taking a break to shower. lol

Maybe it will open up after the conference. Can anyone get on-line and hear what's being said? I tried but couldn't and gave up. I'm sure it would be interesting.

SWA CFO just said (live Webcast) that the new schedules including new service for Pittsburgh will be available later today... no exact time...

Listening to SWA webcast they just said that they will start serviceing pittsburgh in May and will release fares later today sometime. So must be today for them to put up our fares past June 6.. Right??

Bet it is around 4 PM or later as I'll be starting a root canal at 4. :charac2:

Well, it looks as though I will have to relinquish "CONTROL" of this and see if DH is available to be on his computer around 2pm. I suppose, if I told him exactly what I want, he could do it, right? :rotfl: Just kidding... he is very capable... he cannot help it if he is married to a control freak!..........P

Does anyone think there is a chance that they will have an airfare sale for existing dates when they release the new dates? I know it's normally on Tuesdays but one can hope!

Well, there up on the website, through Aug 3. Doesn't do us fall travelers any good, but I know some of you were waiting. Good Luck :cheer2:

I come back on the 4th of AUG............uggh

Does anyone think these are great rates? IT is saying 144 one way from MCI TO MCO. I went last year for 212 a person. At this rate it would be 288.

Now what do I do?

Well, it looked to me like the general reservation section was open through aug 3, but the specials section still says june 6....so.....

edited to add: I take that back....it was that way a few minutes ago, but now its not. So, I'd try again under the specials section to be sure on your rate.

edited again to add: Rats....I need sept 17-24!!! BTW, why only 2 more months of open ressies? Thats not much considering their last opening in dec went all the way to june.

Got my tix!! Only thing was, we WERE going to come home on Tuesday, July 5th....but the cheapest rate wasn't available! Oh DARN!! So, now we're coming home the 6th!!!

I agree. These aren't exactly the best rates I have ever seen from SWA. Our last trip we were able to get $39pp each way. Oh well, at least the rates and schedules have finally been published.

I went ahead and booked PVD to MCO at the $79 rate. Guess I will have to keep checking back and if they frop, get the diff as either a SWA credit or (hopefully) a refund.

Good luck to the rest of you...

Just booked 7 round trips for us and some friends. One more thing out of the way.

Wow.....so much for "good" rates :sad2: sigh I guess a quickie summer trip is out.

I think it has alot to do with fuel prices...SW has been very lucky in the past to get long term price agreements with regards to fuel...which has allowed them to have low pricing...

the rates released are what they are typically released at. with usair having all their problems, flights for SW are going to go fast. the $39, $49, etc...those are "sales" they run and usually the popular fly times are not eligible for those rates. you can wait for a "sale" ($39/$49), but you aren't going to be guaranteed a flight when you want. GOOD LUCK!! ;)

But you can go ahead and book at the higher rate since SW has the policy of crediting the difference if the fare lowers in price (you just need to call them). At least you'll have your seat reserved. Do I have this right??

You have it right, but understand that SWA's normal policy is to offer credits for future flights. Sometimes you can get a refund, but this usually depends on the circumstances and the agent you end up speaking with.

Got em! ABQ - MCO rt is $590.80 for 2. Cheaper than my trip to Houston which is half the distance.

Glad to have them , tho. 6/30 - 7/7.
