SWA changed our flight schedule

I bought our flights back in February to fly to MCO in September. I was surprised to receive an Air Confirmation e-mail out of the blue from SWA yesterday. I was thinking "okay???" Then I checked our flight times and realized they had changed slightly. SWA doesn't mention anywhere in the e-mail that they are sending this out due to a schedule change.

Nothing major - we now get into Orlando 15 minutes later than previously scheduled and we get home 5 minutes later. Departure times on both ends remained the same.

Just be aware that SWA does occasionally change their flight schedules a bit.

Considering the departure time remains the same, I would not call it a schedule change. Most likely something is going on to extend the flight times. For example, runway work will cause longer taxi times. Their ontime rating is based on arrival time so they want to adjust it.

Sounds like the route the plane had been cleared to use got changed.

I received an email today also. The only change is we arrive home 5 minutes later. I have never received an email like this before from SW. Sure would be nice if they would indicate the reason for the email.

Thanks for posting! I got one of the strange multi-colored confirmations yesterday. I was actually searching this forum to see if anyone else had gotten one. I never thought to look at the times because I got a phone call last week notifying me of a time change on another segment of our trip (except when I looked at the confirmation from April the time was the same). And of course the email make no mention of a time change, just keeps emphasizing that funds must be used by the expiration date. Very confusing to say the least.

I was just reading online today about how Southwest is trying reduce fuel consumption by flying some routes at a slower speed. This could be the reason for the arival change.

What really would save fuel, fly a more direct route. I'm in favor of that, shorter flight times.

They actually called my house the other day to tell me my August return flight would get in 15 minutes later then scheduled.

This has happened to us before. When going to Fort Lauderdale in January we were supposed to touch down in Orlando on the way, but it was changed to Nashville instead. Same thing happened on the way back.

last month that her flight Tampa to Hartford was changed to a hr later than originally scheduled and then I received a follow-up e-mail (mine is the one listed) confirming the change.

That's actually pretty common with most airlines.

We got like 3 different emails like that from United back in 2008 when we flew in and out of MCO. No big deal.

One of the reasons I love SW is that they never monkey around with flights. Departure or arrivals, let alone cancellations. Is this something we should expect to see in the future now? I leave in 11 days so now I am paranoid and will keep checking my email, cell phone messages and messages on home phone. Does this tie in to their buying out Airtran????
