I'm flying out of BWI and trying to get into TPA for a cruise mid-March. The two days I didn't have my computer on they released my dates and everything filled up. Fortunately I was able to book our flight in and out of Orlando but the logistics of transportation between Orlando and Tampa are beginning to be a nightmare!

What do you think the chances are of SWA adding more flights since the flights seem to be full (except the highest fare)? Is it possible that they release some of the full fare seats into the discounted sections? I keep checking several times a day to see if there are any cancellations but I'm not counting on that happening, especially with four of us flying. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

I'm not an expert, but I do fly Southwest frequently. My experience has been that Southwest does not add flights. I've been tracking the status of flights around Thanksgiving and there's one day that's completely sold out - even at full fare. Southwest has not added flights for this day, and I don't expect that they will. I think that Southwest just doesn't change their schedule once it's published like other airlines do. Also, because Southwest's schedule doesn't go out as far, I think they're generally better at estimating the demand such that it's not necessary to add or remove flights.

I would recommend continuing to check for available seats, because I have seen one of the completely sold out flights periodically show up with a couple of seats available. Of course, it's just been the full fare seats that have been available.

Thanks for the reply! I've been playing around with SWA's website and I found the promo fare still available but it's a late flight (not in until midnight) and it's two days earlier. I still may try to take it and use priceline to get a cheap room. It would still be cheaper than paying full fare. I just don't know what to do and go back and forth. UGH!
