SWA: Cattle Call

That is pretty darn funny! I haven't seen that one of the tv yet, but I have seen the Southwest one a few times. Though I'm not sure a bunch of middle aged men waving their naked bellies at me is the best way to get my to fly Southwest.:rotfl2:

Great commercial. Of course AirTran fails to show that while there are no seat assignments on Southwest, everyone lines up single file IN ORDER so there is no arguing, fighting, pushing, etc. You take your turn.

They also fail to mention the $7 charge to pre-assign a seat on AirTran.
They fail to mention the $25 charge per suitcase, each way, on AirTran.
They fail to mention that AirTran frequent flyer members lose their points after just a year.
And so on and so on......

I've not flown any legacy carriers, that have assigned seats, but arent they about as much of a cattle call too? It's just the cows know what seat they are in? With overhead space at a premium and people wanting that, I cant believe they are just nice slow easy boarding either? Plus with quick turns many airlines try to do, I just dont see how any of them cant be called cattle calls?

And I would say SW is less of one since you line up and go in order. That's about the most of the cattle call I can see.

There are gate lice on every airline. I actually give SWA credit for trying to address the problem, but even on SWA when you board in order I have been in front of people who seem to think that once they hand their ticket to the agent that it should now be a mad dash to the door and if they can run past me and jump ahead down the jetway that they will somehow get that elusive magical seat.

but that makes for a much less funny commercial....

Oh, no doubt. There are people that are 'entitled' (just ask them) everywhere. No matter what they do, you'll have that. And that thing is exactly what the commercial showed. I've just never seen it in person.

JMHO but I think the commercial is typical for television..stupid..has a certain appeal for those with a sixth grade mentality.........I'll be doing Air Tran
for the first time in May. Will then have a basis for comparison.....one added note...SWA loads their planes in about half the time as the others I've used...minimizing time on the ground and making the planes more productive

wow, thanks your high and mighty.

Shoot, I missed this thread and started my own because I thought the airtran version of the cattle call was hilarious!

Some people are confused. The Airtran video isn't a commercial. It's a video that was produced for the internet, youtube.

Yeah, well technically, that's still a commercial; they just didn't have to pay to run it. ;)

But you're right; if you're looking for it on broadcast TV, you won't find it.
