:earboy2: plz excuse a newbie trying to get in a round while on vaction. I understand SWA has a weight/baggage limit. Am trying to decide to rent or take my own clubs. All things considered...I'd rather take my sticks than chance an expansive or bad rental.
Can I take my carry bag and clubs that have a combinded weight under 50 lbs and another checked bag? Does SWA charge for taking my clubs?
Sure could use some 'expert' suggestions/advise...plz offer me your thoughts. thx

I would contact Southwest. Some airlines charge extra because the bag is oversize.

You are allowed 3 checked bags with SWA.
Here is a link regarding golf clubs.

We usually use SWA to go to Orlando; there is no charge for golf clubs; you must check them because there is no room for them in the passenger cabin; you will need to have one of those large golf travel bags (soft or plastic) in which you put your regular golf bag with clubs; they are available at any golf store. Note that your carry bag that you take on the plane does not count toward total allowed checked baggage.

you all are awesome...thx for the info and suggestions. from the web site...i got the below...hope it helps others.

Golf clubs that are transported in a hard, plastic travel case or a standard club bag are accepted as checked baggage. Golf clubs transported without a hood to cover the clubs, or clubs that are covered with a plastic bag, will be conditionally accepted. Golf equipment includes golf clubs, golf balls, and golf shoes, contained in one bag. Golf clubs are not allowed onboard as carryon items.
