sw seats

Fervent plea to large parties: When possible, especially with young children, please try to seat adults from your party directly in front of children in your party who may tend to kick the back of the seat in front of them... for three hours... :teeth: Your consideration is appreciated.

Yes!!! It drives me crazy being kicked in the seat for hours by children of oblivious parents. Believe me, I understand, I'm a mom of young boys :bounce: but it is sooo drilled into their heads to not disturb the seat in front of them whether it's kicking or even playing with the tray. Just another lesson in life kids should learn. Thanks for bringing up that point. It's such a pet peeve of mine. Sorry, I'm rambling again! :rotfl:

OK I have a question I am flying Southwest for the first time in September.....are there no assigned seats????????? SO CONFUSED!!!
Correct - there are no assigned seats on SW. This tends to unnerve people the first time they fly, but most people end up loving the system once they are used to it. Below is the 30 second version of it. For more info, just search through threads in this forum. There's probably at least one a day on SW seating. If you still aren't sure, just start a new thread, "First Time SW flyer needs help."

Basically, you just get on the plane and pick your seats. You get on the plane in one of four groups - preboarders, A's, B's and C's. Preboareders get on first, followed by the A's, B's and then C's. Within each group, you get on the plane in the order you line up at the airport.

Perboarders are folks with disabilities or small children. Everyone else gets put into group A/B/C depending upon when they check in for the fight. You best bet is to try and get in group A by checking in for your flight exactly 24 hour ahead of time. You check in online at www.southwest.com. For your flight to Disney, you just check yourself in from home. For the flight back, you can have the lobby concierge check you in at your resort. Or, if you won't be at your resort at the 24 hour mark, you can check in with a mobile phone or have a friend check you in. If you do one of those last two, you'll just have to print the actual boarding passes at the airport.

As I said, that's just the 30 second version. It may sound confusing, but it's really not once you see it in action.

That's correct, but as Sal said. It's not as bad as you might think. Do as he mentions and you will be fine.
