I just went through the process of getting the credits so I apparently have $700 in credits split between 5 people. How does this work in the future? Does this expire at some point?
My flights for August (LAX/MCO) stayed the same even though they are higher than I paid for them. I locked in at $159 each segment for two. The fares are now $235 to MCO and $164 to LAX, so I am ahead of the game at this point.
I booked last night also for 6 of us for July. We paid $131 each way and I got the first flight going out and the late afternoon flight coming home. I paid about $99 last year each way but I was really getting nervous. It was $184 yesterday afternoon when I checked. Gas in Illinois went up another 10 cents yesterday.
The quick answer is that credits are good for one year from their issuance. Each person will have credit in the amount of their share of the $700. Keep track of your confirmation number as you will need it when you want to use the credit at a later date.
Using Travel Credits:
1. Start a reservation as normal
2. When you are at the payment screen there will be a pull down for "Travel Funds"
3. Follow the screen prompts to apply the credits from your previous confirmation number
***on the SW website you can verify your credits and their expiration dates under "Travel Tools"
I checked our flights this morning and 9:15 and they were $38 each less for the return leg of the trip. At 1:45 this afternoon they were back up. I was glad I did it right away to get the credit. We are flying Friday to Friday in June from Chicago to Orlando.
I hate waiting so long to get my airfare (I usually try to have it in hand as soon as I know I'm going!) But the prices right now for September are much higher than those for the next couple of months...so I'm trying to hold out.
St. Louis and KC to Orlando are both at $300 rt right now. Ick. I'm used to paying $180!

just remember that SW changed who can use the credits. Now only the person on the ticket can use that credit. You can no longer give your credits to anyone else.

The credits expire one year from the date you first booked the flight unless you applied any prior credits at the time of purchase, in which case the credits will expire on the earliest expiration date of any credit used to purchase the flight.

this was suppost to come into effect at the end of January 2011, however, they seem to be having some problems implementing it into their computer system, thus, for now the TTF are not defined to only the person who booked the fare to begin with and can be used to book a flight for anyone as long as they have not expired
I checked last night and this morning, no drop here! I actually saw an increase in a flight, up to 277.00 one way . I booked on opening day so our rate is not bad, all considering, 129.00 each way. But, I would take a credit if the rate dropped
I just booked from KC for early June with SW and paid $326 each. But with price of gas and the time to drive, still is good deal. We are just used to paying under $200 each.
Mine didn't come down either. Tell me why I care because I already booked it 2 weeks ago for October. I keep checking those darn prices anyway. And I don't care about any kind of credit. We only fly once every 3 years or more.
I'm holding tickets on SW and I noticed the price came down since I bought them a few days ago (on their web site). How do I obtain the credit for the difference? Call, or can I do it on line?
