Apple Watches

Are they worth it? I mean, with a nice band and all?
My sister got a new one for Christmas and gave me her hand me down. So far, I am enjoying it, especially the ability to customize the face with photos of my own. I do find some of the notifications get on my nerves though, especially the fitness ones when it says it’s time to stand or move about and I am in the middle of something, so I turned those off for now. I am not investing in fancy bands at this time, because if I like it then I may want a new one with a larger face, which would likely take larger bands. She gave me six bands in neutral colors and they are comfortable. I have seen some nice bands online though.

If you decide to get an Apple Watch just keep in mind that it is not a long term investment like a mechanical watch can be. It will have a set lifespan (I figure my hand me down has a couple of years left before it is no longer supported, which gives me plenty of time to decide if I want to use one long term). You can sometimes catch them on a sale, but it will still be more expensive than a lot of the watches you have posted about.

Well, it is basically a computer on your wrist (Hello, Dick Tracy). Many of the apps on your iPhone also run on the watch.

I had no intention of ever getting one, then my husband talked me into it. We didn't even have iPhones until this year, then went all in on the phones and the watches. I'm a convert. I especially loved the watch on our Disney trip a couple months ago - using Apple Pay, tapping into the parks and LL and PhotoPass with my watch, quickly checking texts without pulling out my phone, etc. I have had an iPad and iMac for several years now and I just love how all the Apple products sync together.

I was recently having this discussion with my jeweler. The only semi-smart watch I own is my Garmin, which is supposedly more accurate than an Apple Watch when it comes to running and fitness. My Garmin can be tethered to my phone, which I quickly realized that I dislike and would rather just use my phone. In fact, I have video of someone I know (just randomly ended up in the frame) getting a call...checking it on their watch...but still using their physical phone to take the call. To me, it's like Why Bother? So, if I'm going to wear a watch, it's going to be a traditional one fit for the occasion.

Never owned one and no interest. At Christmas one of our relatives was showing us their Apple watch. I think the screen on my cell phone is already too small and having to tap with my fingernail to text gets annoying. I can't imagine ever using something as small as a wristwatch to do texting or other PC related functions, just not for me. My life doesn't revolve around using my cell phone so perhaps that is a consideration also. As someone else mentioned, they probably only last as long as they are supported and then you are expected to buy a newer model.

I have one of the many free golf apps on my phone that shows the yardage to the green when playing golf.

I have a Garmin 935 multisport watch. I won't buy an Apple watch because it can't do what a Garmin can for multi sports. The biggest factor in not getting an Apple watch is that it won't pair with my power meter on my bike, making training with power impossible.

I would like to get one for all fitness/activity benefits. Right now, I track everything on paper, and I track my steps on my phone. But it'd be nice to have one. I just don't want to spend the money on one.

It's several years old, but I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music. It also was designed to track multiple sports. I was too cheap to spring for the pod that paired with it for cycling so I would strap it into my pedal or laces if I was using my stationary bike. Obviously, not the most accurate thing but it was at least tracking something. I think I could even have my credit cards on there so I could pay with my watch. My only real beef is that it can take forever to link up to a satellite.

It is very nice and worth it if you can wear it. For some reason mine kept giving me shocks in my wrist, maybe it was severely irritating carpel tunnel which feels like shocks if I tap my wrist the wrong way. Whatever it was I couldn't stand it so I gave the pretty rose gold watch to my daughter who loves it.

I have it because I don't want to be tethered to my phone. When I am working and get a text, I can quickly look down to see if it's my kid/something important and carry on with my day. (I'm in a classroom) If I do respond on it, I use voice to text and it works great. There's also pre canned replies. This, weather, time, dates, and steps are what I use it for. OH, and to see if I got an important email I do want to pull my phone out for our can just read quick. It's just so convenient for my needs.
