SW Flights are up: Go get em.

I'm also not happy that our first day in Disney is 9/30, which is the last day SW has open right now, which means who knows how long I'll have to wait for October dates!

You have to wait until March 15th. That is when SWA plans to open the schedule through Nov 4.

Thanks! That's not too bad...although if I wait to buy the first flight for 9/30 til March, who knows how much it will go up by then!!! This is so stressful!! :rotfl:

agree...$129 each way is high....i'll wait a while to book airfare for my 9/28 trip....last October we paid $89 each way....and didn't book on the first day the dates opened up

Well, the flight down was 129.00. The flight I wanted to come home on was 170.00 :scared1:. Utimately, I decided to book the flight going down for 129.00 even though it is a bit high and I changed my return date to 9/2 instead of 9/4. That flight was also 129.00.

I just checked SWA and the flight rates on my day of departure have gone up. My flight went from 129.00 to 148.00. Another one jumped from 129.00 to 170.00. I do know that the prices will bounce up and down and I risked paying a bit more, but I am meeting friends at Disney and didn't want to chance not getting my first choice of flights. If the price drops enough, then I will change my return trip back to 9/4.

Good luck and I hope you get great prices!!! Others have posted snagging great deals and I am happy to see some of our Dis Friends benefitting!!! :yay:

From Philly the flights both down and back are 95.00. Last year through airtran I paid less 67.00 each way for our sept tickets. I want to wait for Airtran but then again with the merge I dont know how much cheaper they will be or when they will come out. Also I have to pay baggage fees with Airtran so it may end up being more expensive....what to do.....what to do :confused3

The cost of my return flight went from $135 each way to $95 each way since I checked this afternoon. :thumbsup2

My flight to MCO is still high ($168 on a Saturday morning) unless I leave a day earlier, in which case it is $95 - but then I need to account for an additional night at a hotel.

Take the extra night!! It probably woudnt come out to too much more and you get an extra day in Disney!! :yay::woohoo:

Yes, that extra day is pretty appealing, I must admit :)

If I was only looking at airfare, I'd book it right now. But, we're also trying to make the fly vs. drive decision, and the cost of the hotel room changes my decision from 'definitely fly' to 'I'm not so sure'...

It's good to hear from a Chester County resident, though... I grew up there :thumbsup2

I was able to get $67 each way from Manchester NH to MCO 8/30-9/6. Tues and Weds. travel was significantly cheaper so we changed our dates! $621 for 4 roundtrip tickets. Thats about the cheapest Ive ever paid.

Wow! Good for you! I was happy to get $119 from MHT to MCO 9/18 and 9/24:cool1:

I think you made the right move....since your flying around labor day weekend.......we've been going down in october for the food and wine festival for a few years and usually can find flights 79-89....this year my daughter is turning 21 so she wants to join us so we had to work around her college schedule....and she's off 9/29 & 9/30....not sure if the long weekend will keep the fares up or if they will drop after the initial release...also she has no idea what her wednesday schedule will be so it's hard to book flights right now...we like to catch the first flight since we are so close to islip but her class schedule will determine which flight we take....but i'd hate to have to book the 5:30pm flight

Same here. Last year I paid $89 each way from LI to Orlando, and didn't buy tickets until about 3 months before my flight.

Now they are $129. I'm thinking of holding out. Last year when I checked flights the prices bounced back and forth between $89 and $159. So do I book now and get the flights I really want, or wait it out for a dip in price. I know you can get a credit but we're skipping next year and have no use for a SW credit.

Same here, but AirTran's rates from LGA may be too good to pass up. $67 down and $84 back. Even with $15 per bag, those are really good rates.

I'd use the difference in the airfare to pay for the room. Get something cheap that provides free shuttle to and from the airport if were planning to use DME to get to WDW from MCO.

I got the same rate!:cool1: Which flight are you taking home on the 26th? We are on the 5:30 pm to BDL!

We are on the 5:30 nonstop too. Gives us extra time in MK on the last day and we still get home at a decent time.

I was pleasantly surprised at the airfares released today. $149 each way from Oregon to Orlando in September. Not the cheapest I've ever paid, but considering the cost of oil is up, and I suspect will only go higher, I snagged tickets today. The flight schedule is also great - I was thrilled to get direct flights (1 stop, no change of planes) in both directions and at very convenient times for us. Woo-hoo! :thumbsup2

I was wondering if the flights started at $149 or $99... do you know ? I thought by the time I logged on...about close to 7am Oregon time going down the time I wanted was $178 comin back is $149.

I went to a dentist appt and returned about 2 hrs later and the $149 flight I got was now $178. I had looked and Seattle to Orlando was at $99.00 each way for awhile.

Curious if I missed the $99.00 but Happy. I am a bag packer and love the option to change flights. I wish I had booked each one sep as one wayers in case the price drop one way. Oh well remember that for next year.:rotfl:

Mommy, we had to fly down and back on Tuesday's to get that rate but it was well worth it. We have the earliest flight down to MCO and a late morning flight back home both non stops and both the flights we wanted. Cheapest flights we've ever had.

We also have Free Dining for this trip so another plus.

Good luck in October.

Yes we have been flying on Tue/Wed too because it is so much cheaper. Free dining too...you did great! Have a great trip!

OK sowthwest experts. Is it possible to book flights seperately?Meaning book one way flight then come back later and add a return flight to it?Has anyone ever done this before? Is there a extra charge for doing it this way?

I am not SW expert, but this is way i did it. I booked flight down yesterday on SW. Was not sure when i wanted to come home til this morning and just booked another one way trip on SW. i did not see any additional charges.

AirTran doesn't fly direct from LGA to MCO, though, correct?

I read after I booked to do it sep in case one flight goes lower. It was too late I had already booked and indeed the choices I made woluld be changed because now I have a package round trip.

I did play with the one way and it would have cost me an extra $3.00 only.
So try it both ways.... If I get a chance to switch both I will do one ways.:cool1:
