SW EBCI bummer

An update on our experience with EBCI ...we purchased our tickets and EBCI the day our flights opened up around 7am.....I did get a SW credit in July when the price went down 15. Printed out our boarding passes is morning and we are A48 & 49....not a problem I know we will have no problem sitting together....

Friends we are going with also bought their tickets and paid for EBCi the same day/time as us...they didn't do the price adjustment ..when I find out what boarding pass numbers they have I'll let everyone know

Wow, I would grab the credit in hot second. With EBCI, you will still have a good boarding # and still sit together. So what if it's over the wing instead of at the very front? :confused3

As long as you get the credit by changing your res, not cancelling, you don't lose your $10.

:thumbsup2

WE changed our flights a lot last time - priced dropped at least 4 times. We still ended up with late A, early B boarding. (My dh was B1, I remember that..). I would ALWAYS atke the credit vs a better position in "line"

I am starting to think that the extra EBCI is a joke. We booked flights, DH and I, back in March for Oct flight. DH was an award ticket mine was fare. Put EBCI on DH's. In June decided wanted to go an extra day so was able to change DH's reward ticket and got a refund on mine that did not have EBCI, cheaper fare. I checked in right at the 24 hour mark, I got something like B25, DH who had EBCI got b19, doesn't make sense. Well then coming home, same type of scenario, I checked in at 24 hour mark got a39, DH got a38, he had the EBCI from 4 months ago.:rolleyes1

An update at the airport now  our friends who didn't get the credit have A18 and 19 so if we hadn't taken the credit we would have been A 16 and 17 instead of A 48 and 49

In addition to when you purchase EBCI, the fare class you purchased also comes into play. For example, passengers who purchase an "Anytime" fare + EBCI will get their boarding assignments ahead of those who purchased a "Wanna Get Away" fare + EBCI regardless of the purchase date. The worst boarding assignment we ever got with EBCI was when we used the last of the Awards I had from the previous RR program. I booked the Award flights and then purchased EBCI the day the schedule opened but we ended up with B9 and B10. I asked the person behind us in the boarding line if she had purchased EBCI and she had not. It made me wonder if Award travelers were at the end of the line to get their boarding assignments at 36 hours out.

Wow. That is interesting. I did not know that modifying a reservation would change your place in the EBCI queue but that appears to be what happened here.
