I am one happy camper....just got our DING for this AM and was able to book our flights for first week of November for $121 per person RT all in. (fare is $55 each way before fees, etc)

I had been checking fares 2 and 3 times a day for 2 months and they had not budged...until this AM....Delta is still running $250 per person RT for our dates. Delta would have given us 3 extra hours before departure on our last day, but the SW flights are at decent times and non=stop....so I will sacrifice the 3 hours to save almost $500 for the 4 of us!!

Happy Day!! The DING is good until 11:30PM tonight if anyone else is interested - dates are Oct through Nov 17.

I'm trying desperately to get this as well with departure on Oct 1 and return on the 8th or 9th...is there any possibility they will add more flights? Do they DO that?! I am new to the ding concept! I was away from my desk, and then when I went frantically on there to do this, all the departures were sold out...STRESS!! :guilty:

Any advice appreciated!!!

I have been looking at that set of dates for MONTHS. The flights on the October 1 Ding have been sold out every time it comes up. The cheapest flight on that Saturday is $115+ fees.

SW does not usually open up new flights after the schedule comes out. They don't usually open up more seats either since all they fly are 737's (so they can'y just use a bigger plane)

We were lucky because we are going and coming midweek this time (Wed to Wed)...and those flights don't fill nearly as fast as the weekend ones.

Keep watching though sometimes seats open up if people cancel....is there anything available on the Friday night before?

Good luck.

This Ding starts on Saturday, October 1. I would LOVE a 9/30 flght. I don't even know what the latest flight out of SDF on Southwest is (to Orlando).

I'm happy with my Indy flight, but I sure would have loved something outof Louisville or even Nashville. I haven't seen a Nashville-Orlando Ding in a long time.

SW only flies twice a day out of SDF to MCO...a nonstop at 10AM and a 1 stop in St Louis that leaves at 1PM or so....not great times for us usually...but this time it just happens they will work for us. Indy probably has better times....the DING last night had fares from Indy to MCO RT for $90 all in !!! Can't beat that!!

Funny thing about that Indy Ding--I booked it in May, I was SO afraid that it wouldn't be that cheap again....and IND/MCO comes up almost once a week, it seems! LOL...

it's about an hour farther than I'd like to drive for an airport, but it sure beats driving 13 hours with 3 kids! :teeth:

I hear you....we have made that drive to Indy several times for cheaper fares...never bothers me much on the way up there, but that drive home at the end of a great vacation is the pits!!

But like you said...sure beats driving the whole way!!

MADGE and MOLLYBELLE...just had a thought....Vacation Express has 1 way nonstops from Louisville to Orlando on 9/30 for $81 per person 1 way. The down side is you fly into Sanford so you cannot use ME to WDW. But you could do them 1 way and then fly home on SW at the DING fare (I am sure it will come up again next week)...it would wind up being about $140 per person RT...but it beats the $250 that fares were running.

I wonder what is going on that first weekend in October....maybe a lot of people coming for the last week of free dining?? There is availability on SW and Delta at the cheaper fares for the weekends before and after that...just not that weekend.

Not sure if this will help either of you, but we had flown Vacation Express once a couple of years ago and it was fine (but we were renting a car anyways so Sanford wasn't a big deal) They also have a flight out on 10/1, but it was more expensive.

Hope you all can find something.

I'm not sure what, if anything, it has to to with anything....but the first 2 weeks of October are Fall Break weeks in some of the central KY schools. I know Elizabethtown & Hardin County are both out...that might have an impact on travel. I can't imagine it would have that much of an impact, but it's something, LOL...

Unless I can get within $100 of my $410 (for 5 people) Ding price out of SDF or BNA, I'll be sticking with it :)

Thanks for the tip on flying Vacation Express--I always forget about them!
