SW - best time to book?

I have a trip coming May 5-14 this year. I am patiently waiting for SW to open up past the 10th like everyone else, but I am not sure I will book ASAP anyway since the current one-way fare in early May from BDL is $159. Yes I know I can cancel and rebook with SW if/when the rates drop or a Ding fare comes up, but I don't want to be beholden to flying SW the rest of my life (this policy of theirs is a brilliant piece of sales/marketing for that reason, BTW)

My question is this, when do SW regular internet discount fares usually pop up? Until they redeemed themselves in my eyes on a flight last week, I hadn't flown SW in years due to a bad experience, so I have no concept of how their fare timing works (I can usually predict when Delta fares will drop, OTHA).

Any insight from the SW frequent flyers out there would be appreciated!

Hi fellow Husky...!!

We too are traveling at the same time.. (May 3 - 11) and we're wondering how to book the tickets... do we buy outbound now, hope for a ding? For our return, I've heard that the rates should be low when they first open up after May 10th. (Can you believe I'm ONE day from the cut-off!!)

I should have booked the outbound from BDL when the fair was cheaper.. currently it's 160 on thursday May 3rd, if I look at wednesday the 2nd it's 109. The 109 used to be available on thursday. I was wondering if that rate would ever drop again? or should I just buy the 160. (geez, 160!)

Did you find an answer yet? Wish I had the answer for us both!! I was thinking of posting this on flyertalk . com but with our new baby I haven't ventured over there yet...
