Quick question, since the fares just opened up for us to book trips in May and beyond. They are not offering Wanna Get Away fares from Houston to Orlando on May 10 or May 11th. Can any one tell me why?? The only fares they are offering is Business Select and Business. I went and ahead and book a one-way ticket back from MCO for the 17th. Just waiting to see what i need to do... not leave on sunday? and change my plans to leave on Monday instead? I just hope cheaper fares open up.... any suggestions? ( i would hate to go that route since i'm already book with WDW)

Same thing for me from MCO to PHL on jun 25th! It's the only date in June like that. I called to ask about this a few minutes ago and the rep told me that perhaps it is an oversight because they always offer at least some discounted fares when the dates open. I am going to wait it out for a few hours and see if it changes.

Worst case is I'll book AirTran or stay and extra day.

I am curious to see what SWA would tell you if you called.

No low fares for PHL to MCO on 6/5/08 either. I booked anyway. If they plug in the lower fares, then I'll have a ticketless voucher for next December :santa: :)

I didn't think the fares were all that great. I am looking for out of Houston for June 9 and returning on the 20th. They had them for 109 but the times were really bad for us since we live 2 1/2 hours away from the airport. I went ahead and booked with Continental for 109 each way per person since they are at a closer airport and more convienent times available.

I have a similar situation out of PIT - no wanna get away fares available on several days in June for any flight on those days. I booked the days that had the cheaper fares, but will switch if the fares become available for the day I wanted.

I just called SW, they were really no help... says they may be already sold out... which is not true since i was on the site right when it opened up today. So i asked will anything open up later, and she says there is no way to tell... so i'm just stuck in limbo.... i dont want to pay $249 one way.... why cant this be easy!!!

We are flying in and out of Philly on a Friday and Tuesday in July. Got exactly the times I wanted w/ $99 fares each way... $109 after taxes.

We never got any dings for our trip in December traveling on a Saturday and Sunday, but I'm optomistic that we should hit at least one w/ Friday and Tuesday flights.

Once when flights were filled on the day they opened I called customer service to find out why. I requested the sales operator to forward me to customer service. It is different that the sales department.

There, I was told that SW might open up those flights later but they were not offering specials on those days yet because they expected heavy traffic. I took a chance and waited checking all the time and I got lucky. It was nerve racking.

Today I booked 5 flights June 11 to June 23 for $99.50 each one way including taxes. I am happy, but if I do get a ding I will apply the credit towards next Feb!!!!!

Trying here for flights from Philly to Fort Lauderdale...

$89 for the return trip, but only high priced business class for the trip out.

I came to the DIS Boards for some reassurance that the fares haven't sold out. Now I'll just wait...:surfweb:

If I call, does the customer service rep have access to tell whether or not a flight is full?

I think they can see what is available on each flight and if it is full or not. They cannot give you any other info, just the status of the flight. That's what they did for me three years ago. I was a mess because I had 8 people flying out and I was footing the bill!!!!!

I'm having the same problem to Kansas City from Orlando on May 15th. It is the only day in May that only has business and business select available. This is so irritating!

Same from Orlando to Buffalo 5/15. A Thursday. Strange. Wed and Fri have $89 fares back from Orlando. Looks like we may have to stay another night! :)

SW isn't the only airline that does this. I've found most airlines post high fares when they first come out. They want to see if impatient people will just pay it. I would hold out.

Edit: I just priced PIT/MCO, 6/26 to 7/1, $190 total. Not too bad.

Here's a Question -

There's a flight out of PHL to FLL the day before we'd actually like to go. If we book that flight and a flight for the smae price becomes available on the next day ( the day we'd like to fly out), could we cancel the original departing flight and rebook without penalty?

Yes, but why not use the tools SWA gives you. On the main SWA page, select TRAVEL TOOLS, and on the next page select CHANGE AIR RESERVATION. Put in your previous confirmation number and credit card owner and follow the instructions to change your flight destination, times, and price. Good luck.

PS...they will probably hold excess funds as Ticketless Travel Funds, that you may or may not get credited back to your CC, and you will have a year to use them.

There is no penalty for changing the flights.

I agree. I see it all the time with SW. It's kind of pointless though since they allow you to get the lower price if it comes out. Then again, I'm sure many people don't even bother to check back once they've purchased their tickets.
