Our First trip to Disneyland Paris. October 22nd - 27th 2007. Trip Report - Day 3.

Cast Members

Suzy (over 40!) Have been to WDW Floirda many years ago, loves pretty things and water rides, but hates roller coasters, rides that spin round and anything that goes up in the air!
Vince (DP, over 30) Has never been to a Disney park, didn't quite understand why I wanted to go, but loves fast roller coasters and taking photos.
Kira (DD, 5yrs) Loves the Disney Pricesses and is a real thrill seeker when it comes to rides, but is too small for most roller coasters at DLP
Jamie (DS, 4yrs) Loves Buzz Lightyear, Lightening McQueen and Pirates. Very much like me in that he doesn't like "scary" rides.

Thursday dawned less bright and clear than the previous days, which was good in a way because it wasn't quite so cold. Another late breakfast and we were in the parks by 11am. DD and DS had wanted to wear their costumes that we had bought them the previous day so if anyone spotted a couple walking around with a minature Minnie Mouse and Buzz Lightyear - that was us! :rotfl:

Today was our day to really hit WDS and on our way in we picked up the photos that were taken of DP and DD with Mickey and Sully on Tuesday. They were lovely photos but it was a shame that we all hadn't had our photos taken. Headed straight over to Cars because DS was insistant that we go on it again. This time though the queue was much longer than it had been on Tuesday afternoon, but we waited and were on it again within 20 minutes. We them legged it quickly across the park to get to the Stunt show - only just made it in time - we were the last to get through before they closed the doors. Although the stadium is under cover, it's not really protected from the cold and it was bitterly cold sitting down so we all had to put our coats, hats and gloves on  We all enjoyed the show although I found the all the "talk" from the presenters rather boring - I'd have just rathered they got on with the stunts without the chit chat, but I guess they had to fill in the time while everything was being set up.
As we left the stunt show everyone was getting ready for the Cinema Parade, so we found a spot and tried to keep DD and DS away from each other while we waited (DD was in a terrible mood and was taking it out on DS  ). We were lucky with our spot as it was right where the parade stops and the characters get out to dance, so we had a good view of the dancing rather than the side of a float.

Once the parade was over we were hungry so stopped for a quick snack in Studio 1 - we sat upstairs which seemed a calmer atmosphere than downstairs. It was at this point that DS insisted on taking off his Buzz costume - he had started getting a bit self conscious about everyone pointing him out and looking at him! Bless him!
Pit stop over we headed off to Animagique, which allowed DP to have a snooze and kept DD and DS enthralled for half and hour. We came out of that and joined the queue for the Magic Carpets (around 10 minutes). It wasn't as scary for me as Orbitron, but again not one of my favourite rides, although DD and DS loved it.
Next on our list to do was the Studio Tram Tour, but when we got there we found the CMs turning people away because it was broken down, so after a sit down with a yummy Ben and Jerry's chocolate icecream we had another go on the Cars ride. This time though the queue was much shorted, just like it had been on Tuesday afternoon, so my big tip for this ride is don't bother doing it in the morning, leave it until the afternoon as the queue is much shorter then
When we came off the Cars ride we spotted that they were letting people through to the Studio Tram Tour so headed over and just walked on. I've done this ride at Florida so knew what to expect but it was all new to DP, DD and DS. DD and DS were sat over to the left side of the carridge and I was a bit worried that it would frighten them too much, but I needn't have worried. DS took it in his stride (although I had reminded him that what he was about to see wasn't real!) and DD absolutely loved the water and fire and wanted to go back on the tour for another go!
We didn't have time to do it again (the queue had started building up) as we had a reservation for diner at Cafe Mickey for 5:30pm, so we said goodbye to WDS and headed off to the Disney Village. I had told DD and DS that we were going to go to Mickey's own resturant but hadn't told them about the characters. We got seated, ordered our food and within a couple of minutes of our food being served DD let out an excited scream.......she had spotted Mickey coming out behind me (we were sat at the table right in front of the kitchen). As each character came out she got more and more excited....it was really lovely to see (and hear! lol). :yay: pixiedust: :yay:

DS on the other hand wasn't so excited by all this...he watched as each character came out but as soon as any of them came near him he put his head down and pretended to be busy colouring in his little set of pictures they gave the children when we arrived! lol

The characters that were there were Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Eyeore, Friar Tuck and the sailor one from Peter pan (I think!). The characters starting coming out just before 6pm and basically there was at least one character in the room the whole time we were there (we left at 7:30pm). We got some lovely photos of DD with the characters - you can see her excitement on her face, but couldn't get a good one of DS because he kept his head down most of the time. Managed this one though! (sorry about the quality :sad2: )

So Cafe Mickey was a hit - the service was good, maybe a bit slow between courses (had to ask for DS's ice-cream as they seemed to have forgotten it), but it suited us as it gave us a lot of time there with the characters , rather than feeling we were being rushed out ready for the next customers iyswim. We all enjoyed the food. DP was happy that the vegetarian dish wasn't pasta (it was noodles which he enjoyed) and DD and DS enjoyed having a go eating with the chop sticks that came with it. I had the pluto steak which was perfect (would have liked a bit of salad or some veg at the side, but I'm used to not having this in france! lol). DD had the fish with vegetables and DS, yet again had the pasta, which was in disney shapes so that kept him amused for a while.
At the end of the meal we asked DD and DS whether they wanted to go back into the parks or head back to the hotel (Holiday Inn) to go swimming in the pool. They chose the pool option so that's what we did. They loved it but DP and I found the water far too cold for our liking. There was some confusion in the changing rooms as no one could find anyone who had keys to the lockers (they were supposed to be at reception, but they didn't have any). So you had to either leave your clothes in the unlocked lockers or take them in with you to the poolside (which wasn't a problem). We had taken our own towels, but the hotel provided pool towels for you too. We had to drag DD and DS out of the pool when we started turning blue and then all got a good night's sleep (once next door's bed stopped baging against our wall!! lol) ready for our last day at DLP the next day.

Cafe Mickey sounds fab! (would love to see more pics if you have them online! lol! :) ) we're thinking about eating there when we go. Can you get pizza there? on DLPFood Guide it says you can but i've seen trip reports from people who say you cant? xx

Don't Kira and Jamie look adorable in their costumes! :cloud9: Another lovely day, we ate at Cafe Mickey the day before you and had a great time too. :)
Can you get pizza there? on DLPFood Guide it says you can but i've seen trip reports from people who say you cant? xx
I'm pretty sure there wasn't any pizza on the menu.

I don't think there was pizza on the menu when we went either because DP loves pizza and I'm sure he would have chosen one rather then a "pasta" dish (which turned out to be noodles rather than "real" pasta iyswim).
Luv Suzy

Thanks! wonder why its on DLPfoodguide hmmm.. nevermind! xx

I guess the menu at the restaurant has been changed but the DLPfoodguide website hasn't yet. DLPfoodguide do ask people to send them changes of menu ~ I wish I'd realised as I could have photographed it for them.
