Hi! I'm not sure if this should go on this board or not, so if not, please excuse me. Does anyone remember or know if during the F&W festival, Japan has sushi in an outside kiosk away from the restaurant?

When we were there in December, we were told the only way to get sushi was to eat table service at Teppanyaki. Hoping that while we're there for the Festival we'll be able to try some! :thanks:

They do have some form of sushi roll at the tasting booth. I didn't try it. It looked pretty straightforward.

You do not have to go to Teppanyaki table service to get sushi. Don't know who told you that, but they were wrong. There's a sushi bar at Tempura Kiku and you can go into the Matsunoma Lounge and order sushi. Last I remember they sold things like California rolls at Yakitori House.

If you're there during the food and wine festival, you can try the sushi & sake food/wine pairing that they've had on Mondays the last two festivals (if they're offering it again for this festival).

Definintely try the lounge. It is a wonderful stop in the middle of the day for a rest and a snack. They had a large tasting menu.

They had rolls at the kiosk, I think something simple like a California roll. They also had some sake. I agree with the other posters -- try the lounge! The sushi (although the selection is sorta small) is delicious!

They also had spicey tuna rolls which were very good! I had to get them every time I went by the kiosk!

just curious, is there any extra charges for f&w festival? or do you go around sampling free stuff? never been during that, but may end up there this year. was curious about the details :)

Unfortunately no free samples. The cost of a sample is usually about $2.50 - $3.50 for food. Beer and wine is probably more like $3.50 - $4.50. The portion sizes are not huge, they are sample size, but big enough to get a good taste. It is a little on the pricey side if you want to try everything, but it's a excellent excuse to try something different.

They had both sushi rolls and spicy tuna rolls. Each were $3.50 I believe and came with three rolls a piece, a side of wasabi, and ginger. They were delicious. My fiance and I are fortunate enough to live close to Orlando, so we would pop in just to get our hands on the sushi!

Thanks everyone for your responses! Looks like we fell victim to an uninformed CM about having to go to Teppanyaki. My fiance will be thrilled!

awww, thank you! :goodvibes i really appreciate that! they are my angels! although the brown one may end up being sushi in a food and wine festival if she doesn't stop chewing everything. lol!! :crazy2: just kidding :teeth:

I had something like a california roll at the F&W this year. it was something simple because I still haven't built up the courage to eat raw tuna yet. :) I also tried sake for the first time, didn't know it was served hot. nothing like hot rice wine standing in the sun. :crazy2:

if you've never been to the F&W Festival, I can't recommend it enough. it can get expensive, but we love it.

oh my god!! i do the same thing! i am ALWAYS telling the kitties "that's it, i'm calling Shing Loon" (my local chinese place) and they just meow at me, like siamese do. probably saying "yeah right mom, try and live w/o us". they know me so well :lmao: and then of course i pick them up and smother them with smooches. therefore i totally reinforce their bad behaviors, lol. and believe it or not, i'm a spec ed teacher! i should know better... but those blue eyes get me every time.... ;)
