Susan Boyle Gets a Well Deserved Apology.

Oh I have no problems with a British accent...even a Cockney one. But I found her really hard to understand. .
She is Scottish - those accents can be even harder to understand - we have family in Scotland and friends in England and Wales - our Scottish family is far more difficult to decipher! ;)

I don't understand what the big deal is about the way she looks...she's a lovely, simple, yet incredibly talented woman. Without a doubt, her voice is a gift. :)

Although London theatre is probably the best anywhere, one must be able to act, not only sing, to be successful in the Theatre world. :thumbsup2

I think part of the appeal (for me anyways) goes beyond her voice and her looks. She just seemed so genuine. How rare is it to find people like that in everyday life, much less on tv. I really, really hope that her newfound fame will only bring her happiness and no heartache. It's nice to see someone so gracious get treated like a star. She got to live her dream and I am so happy for her. It really brings tears to my eyes. I have a feeling she will sing for the Queen even if she doesn't win. This has surpassed Britains Got Talent. She is world famous!

Exactly! When you see someone honestly get to live their dream, to get more than their ultimate dream, especially someone who doesn't have a lot, it makes YOU feel good and warm and fuzzy inside just knowing that person got their dream. It's so good it makes me cry. I've seen that blessed clip about 7 times now and I still tear up every time I watch it!

Now where's her CD? I will be in the que waiting to buy it the day it comes out.

I am utterly awed by her performance:lovestrucShe is such a geniune and real person...and that "cheeky grin" is so warm and compassionate. I must make a confession and say that I watch the full version of her performance a few times every day because it is like comfort food to me:hug:Susan Boyle--you deserve your moment in the spotlight! and I truly hope it brings you happiness:wizard:

I loved the way she talked about it...absolutely wonderful.

She really did hit it on the head. Bonnie often does!!

I could tell that Susan was beautiful.....sometimes inner beauty just shines through...just like inner ugliness does.

Isn't that the truth. Susan Boyle seems to be a beautiful woman.

It's so hard to match the sultriness of this song to the singer - even in her interviews, she just doesn't seem to have that kind of savvy in her to musically interpret the songs the way she does. It's just so bizarre to me.

I think that's why many are captivated by her: true creative interpretation doesn't always have to do with savvy, but emotions. Apparently she HAD dreams when she was younger, but they were put by the wayside for various reasons (plain looks, caring for an elderly mother, etc.). Those sort of choices can certainly prime the pump for "yearning" lyrics such as "Cry Me a River".

Which brings to mind a VERY early Barbra Streisand performance. Would she have made it today?

ETA: Anyone else as cynical as I, and think the judges KNEW her talent and played it up?

You can dream a dream ;), but you are better off trying to understand the behavior of others than to criticize. I am willing to bet that you were attracted to your spouse for the reasons programmed into you, not based on some "higher principal". :goodvibes

Maybe my first, but thankfully I learned something with my old age and experiences and chose my 2nd for "higher principals". ;)
