Survivor - Vanuatu

I thought last night was pretty much a snoozer--the guys were dumb not to get rid of Julie (sheer numbers going into a probable merge--yeah, John was useless, but you can ditch him later...). And I thought LeeAnn and Ami were downright rude to Rory--he is doing a lot of work around camp and on the challenges, it's in their best interest to keep him on their team. But their, "Sorry, you have a wee-wee, so you can't be in our alliance" was just ridiculous. I was also pretty annoyed that Scout didn't even attempt the reward challenge. She seems to bail on challenges so much--I know she's older, and has a reconstructed hip (knee?), and I like her personally (would love her as a neighbor or friend, I'm sure). But the physical challenges have a lot to do with the game. You never see Chad bailing--he's rapidly becoming my favorite!

It's still a boring season, but I'm going to choose Chad and Twila as my picks. At least that gives me something to watch. Does anyone else find the challenges more of the same? I am hoping for something different and new--not rehashes of what's been done on past seasons.
Oh well. It passes the time before The Apprentice comes on and makes for a good hour of bill-paying, etc.:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I agree that Scout is basically not doing any of the challenges, except when she HAS to. Although, in the end, if she knew she was going to blow it, it was in the interest of the entire tribe for her to spill the coconut milk and let the next person go.

Here are my picks for the final four: Sarge, Chad, Chris, and Twyla. This is subject to change. :teeth:

It annoyed me last night when John was trying to talk badly about Chad, saying he'd get the "sympathy" vote. Chad doesn't NEED a sympthy vote!! He's out there doing everything, more than John ever did.

P.S. When they had the coffee maker back at their camp, I think I saw a plug going from the coffee maker into an outlet right in the tree stump that it was sitting on. I bet they rigged a tree trunk with a power source, there's probably a cord running underground. We Tivo'd the show, I can go back and check.

P.P.S. I just went back and watched, it definitely looks like a black cord going right into a white colored outlet in the tree stump.

I believe that its a battery operated coffee machine.

Thats what we figured too, but in one scene they show the machine sitting on a tree stump and on the side of the stump was an electrical outlet that the coffee pot was plugged into. I rewinded it to look again and sure enough there was what looked like a white electrical socket bored into the side of the stump . I'll see if I can go back later and frame by frame it to see better, but it was pretty eveident.

Seaspray - we must have been postng at the same time. Guess we are right about the electrical socket since we both described it the same way! LOL

As far as Chad, I like him and until they show his leg, I always forget about it. He doesn't need any sympathy....he's a good player on his own!

Thats exactly what it looks like to me, too. I'm sure the maker of that coffee maker is a big sponsor of the show, they want that machine to be prominent! :p

I saw the white outlet in the side of the tree stump. I would have been better if they made the outlet blend into the stump.

I agree 100% with this post. Didn't Ami say that the reason the women want to stick together is because no other all female alliance ever has? That's kind of a dumb strategy. You need to evaluate each alliance as the game goes on. And besides, what about Lisa? It was ok to betray her?

I don't think next week is going to be a merge. You know the producers will do something to help the teams even up so that the women don't start methodically picking off the men. Plus, they are all expecting the merge to be next week. From the preview, their faces looked too shocked so I think they either realigned the teams or are doing something else.

Also, how dumb were those guys to think Julie was going to stay loyal to them. If anything, they should shore up an alliance with Twila. Twila needs to realize that the guys are her only hope. If she doesn't align with them, she will be the first of the girls to go.

Ugh, Scout ticked me off last night. I hate that she gets away w/ skipping all the challenges. If she knew she couldn't do the challenges why did she even go on the show? And, why are the girls keeping her around?!

I totally agree! ::yes:: I have been saying that since Scout caused the girls to lose the very first challenge. She contributes nothing in the challenges, why don't they vote her out? If she's not physically able to do the challenges, she probably doesn't help out much around camp, either.

Last night was kind of blah, although it was nice to get to know Rory a little better.

It will be interesting to see what happens next week. I agree with you puffkin. I think they are just going to mix the teams up again not merge.

Also I think Scouts days are numbered. Not sure why they are keeping her around.

The rules should have been if you spill all the coconut juice you have to go back and start over, right then. Not let someone else do all the hard work and you reap the benefits. (if you start something you should finish) I have a problem with anyone not pulling their on weight.

I think that Scout dumping the coconut juice was, although legal, kind of lame. I think that it should have been a legal move, but with perhaps a 30 second time penalty before the next person could start.

Aren't they down to 10 people? They have to merge, because that would be the jury of nine. I find this season dullest of all.
I don't particularly care for any of them , except for maybe Twila and Chad. At least I have "Lost" this season to look forward to each week.:D

I'm hoping things will pick up after the merge. I'll keep watching until the end though. I've been so apathetic about this season that I haven't even checked my fantasy score in weeks. Just can't get into it this time around.

The jury is 7, so they could actually wait for one more elimination before merging. I believe they did that during the Thailand season- ShiiAnn thought they had merged, because they moved to one beach together, but Jeff shocked them by telling them there wasn't a merge yet. Then ShiiAnn's tribe gave her the boot, because they hated her. The merge actually took place the next day, I think.

Scout is flying under the radar just like others have done in the past. I don't see anything wrong with her being on Survivor. You go in to play a game and see who can survive to the end, not who is the best at the challenges. Maybe some of the challenges are physically beyond what she can do but they are keeping her around for some reason that we haven't seen yet. And they don't seem to be holding her inability against her. As far as her dumping her coconut juice so someone else more capable of completing the task could go, I think it was a good move. They won, didn't they? Jeff didn't say that each player had to complete the task, just that if you spilled your juice you had to go back to the end of the line. Sometimes we have to play close attention to what he actually says. Just like when Leann? headed back to the start when they filled up their jar and they had to yell at her to go back and get it. And if I remember correctly, wasn't this tactic done on some other Survivor? Or maybe I am thinking of some other show.
