Survivor Thailand! (Possible Spoilers)

They must have felt that Penny was stronger than Erin. At first I wondered if Penny had agreed with Erin to vote Ken, then caught wind of the Erin vote and changed her vote, but Erin didn't seem upset with Penny so that's probably not the case.

This twist definitely keeps it interesting--usually you can kind of tell at this point who might go the next week due to alliances. And what Jeff said at Tribal Council was meant for us as much as it was meant to keep the tribe going. I need to go back to the spoiler boards and see if there are any rumors.

I just realized tonight that they never did a food challenge--or am I forgetting that part? The food challenge is the thing that would keep me off survivor--I would never eat live bugs.

Penny does smirk but I have to keep rooting for her since she's from here. I'm just glad that Jake is safe.

Did anyone watch the preview for next week and catch the comment about someone apparently being well off and in trouble because of that? Does anyone know who is well off?

From the very first show...Helen voted for Clay and said she did it
(at least partly) "because he doesn't need the money".
I thought that was kind of a weird way to choose who to vote off, but apparently that was why she voted for him and it sounds like it may come into play again next week.
Don't you think that they have to merge these 2 tribes soon?
Or will they do a thing like last time where they all get "new buffs" and 2 totally "new" teams then exist?
It just seems that they need to start getting down to individual immunity.
I feel as if I never really got to "know" Erin....it seemed like mostly they just showed us her body.
I AM glad that Jake is still there...I was a bit worried tonight.

I agree Smee. When Erin said something about "it getting to you", I was so afraid that she meant Jake.

I had forgotten about Helen's comment. I wouldn't mind seeing Clay go but not for that reason.

Heyyy, what happened to the reward challenge? I watch this more for the challenges than for the constant repeats of the same comments. I want my other challenge!!

Not a bad immunity challenge, though a short one!

I'm so glad Jake wasn't the one to go this week. I was pretty sure it would be either Jake or Penny because of how much they focused on those two. But instead it was Erin -- yay! I like Jake and Ken. :) Though why Erin over Penny? And SSB -- I thought the same thing! It would have been interesting if there'd been 1 vote for each, or even a 2-way tie. I also thought it might go Jake and Ken for Penny and Penny and Erin for Jake.

I would have had to join Ted on the beach when they killed the chicken. I wouldn't have been able to eat (well, I can say that now, when I'm not starving) if I had to watch it be killed. :(

I'm going to have to try to record next week -- I'll be in Disneyland, and much as I enjoy Survivor, I'm not givin' up any of my park time to go watch TV! ;)

I think Jake and Ken have an alliance unbeknownst to the girls and they think by voting Erin out... they have a better chance against Penny.... she's so darn annoying!!

My dd was upset there was no reward challenge- I hardly noticed.

BTW Clay said that "Nobody pees in the cave" I believe him- it's a cave- its damp and yucky smelling.

Mermaid02, I think you are right about Jake and Ken. It would make sense.

I missed what Clay had to say about the cave. There is something about him I like. :D When he was describing Penny buttering up all the men, grinning amongst the men cause they are on to her, (and he said he is 47 and it wasn't gonna help her) --- I cracked up! He is funny.

I thought it was possible that Helen was gonna go. How could she play so low key and then blow it talking about recipes all day?
Maybe it won't effect her shot in the long run. But it sure annoyed the men. (And it would've probably annoyed me too.)

I think it was Helen that said something about someone having a new car in the garage waiting for them when they got home. And that they wouldn't need the money. Just like someone mentioned earlier, I have a feeling it's Clay she was speaking of. I don't think I'd vote someone off because I didn't think they needed the money. I hope I'd vote them off based on the game play.

I caught Helen's comment about a new car waiting for someone too. I figure next week someone is going to win a new car! Jake and Clay are pretty well off. Jake being a land broker and Clay a restauranter...that kinda narrows it down.

What we can't figure is why in world do they have Helen sit out on the water challenges. She is a swim instructor for the Navy! They had her sit out on the putting the flower design in the water (one of the very first challenges) and now last night with the underwater challenge. I have to question if the producers have told them she can't participate because they would have an advantage...thoughts please?

Didn't Erin say she was surprised it was she to be voted off in her closing comments? The other three decided it was going to be Erin and kept her out of the loop!

I love the eye rolls Ted and then Clay gave Penny when she was being so "fake nice" to everybody.

They may not look like they are starving but it looks like all Helen can think about is food...."take one cup of brown sugar, one cup of heavy cream, one cup of cashews, add some caramels...." She's a gal after my own stomach.

Dh wanted to bet with me that cuckoo Jan cries and buries the chicken. I knew she did because I read the preview so I didn't bet.

Did anyone else catch the looks between Ken and Penny? The Sook Jai tribe was saying something about sleeping together, and Penny and Ken obviously had some secret communication going on. Also, they showed Clay staring at Erin and Penny watching him. I thought maybe Penny would go to Erin and say something to her about being careful around Clay but she didn't. Maybe Penny didn't like the competition that Erin presented.

On the Survivor Sucks website there is a link to The Smoking gun, which has an article stating that Clay went bankrupt in Jan. before heading off to Thailand.

I wondered about Helen sitting all the water challenge as well.

I just watched the Early Morning Show, where they interviewed Erin. She said she was very surprised that she was voted off. According to her; she, Penny, and Jake supposedly had a "Texan alliance" and had agreed to vote off Ken. She was very shocked at the outcome of the voting. She said that she held no grudges, but that when this was over, she had some words for Jake and Penny.

I miss the reward challenges. It appears that they throw one in next week. I wonder if Helen's comment is due to the fact that there is an individual reward challenge next week and someone wins a car. Since Survivor Australia, there is a car/SVU given as a reward.

Pam

Travelbug24, I'm with you. I couldn't believe they had Helen sit out the water challenge, esp. since it's been noted over and over that Ted isn't a strong swimmer. Maybe you're right that the producers told them Helen had to sit out because they'd have an unfair advantage.

Poor Erin - I was hoping Penny would go. I can't stand her smirk! She'd better not end up in the final two!!

Good comments, T-bug, Yang-Yang, & Pam!

Hubby & I also thought it strange that Helen sat out for the water challenges. I think you are right about the unfair advantage thing T-bug. I loved the eye rolls too. :D

Under different circumstances I would have jumped in on the recipe talk. Helen's recipe's sounded yummy.

Y-Y, I did catch the looks b-twn Ken & Penny and Penny watching Clay. Didn't give it much thought at the time.

Pam, I think if the game played out the way you describe, Erin handled herself admirably. I would've rather seen Penny go than Erin.

I really like Ted. I was wondering why Jan didn't go to the beach w/ him during the chicken killing. Why put yourself through that if you don't have to?

Annemarie

My thoughts on why they sat Helen out......

This was not a strength challenge, and you cant sit the same person out twice in a row........

Of course with a posible merge lurking in the background........

Who knows.......

Okay, I missed Erin's final remarks where she was surprised--I remember I was fussing at my kids about something, but I can't remember what was so important that I would break the no-talking-during-Survivor rule.

I figured there was some reason she chose Ken, that she must have thought that at least one other person was voting for him.

I thought they always decided who was going to sit out before they know what the challenge is. They never stop to deliberate who should sit out - they always know immediately.

I couldn't believe when Erin was saying to Jake "none of us blame you, you've got to believe me" about the challenge. It sounded like she actually was laying a bit of the blame instead of saying "we all popped up first - you did better than all of us" like she should have. I saw Erin on the Early Show. She seemed pretty together except for her attitude against Shi Ann and the fact that she was wearing an Evening gown.

Any thoughts on the big pee debate? I had to laugh that the cameras kept showing the wet stains on the sand.

Helen has a job - why all the big problems with people who have money? I like Helen - I thought she had a shot until all the recipe talk. The way they cut/clip and had all those blurbs of various recipees she was reciting cracked me up. I can almost see the producers cackling as they did the pee thing and then the recipe thing.

I dont' think they could make Helen sit out of the water challenges because she's a good swimmer...... what would the difference be between that and saying... "This challenge takes brain power- sorry Jake- you're too smart you have to sit this out." Or "This is a strength challenge.... sorry Ken- you are obviously stronger than Penny, you have to sit out."

I have been flip-flopping back and forth on why Helen is sitting out the water challenges. It was brought to my attention by a co-worker it is decided BEFORE the challenge who will sit out but the clue about the challenge is so blatent that it still doesn't make sense to me.

And another thing that had me hootin':p...the editing that insinuates-heehee!-that CLAY has a roving eye (on ERIN).:p:p:p:p:p:)

Watching that challenge I was wondering why people were coming up after only a few seconds. Can't you hold your breath for a couple of minutes? People were coming up after about 20 seconds. I guess they really did get panicky.

I was thinking the same thing you were, Sharon--if the tube gave me the heebee-jeebees, I would just hold my breath as long as possible. I couldn't believe most of them gave up after a few seconds. Then poor Jake, feeling so guilty--what about the rest of them? They didn't even try! But hey, maybe it was harder than it looked.
