~ SURVIVOR Samoa ~ Season 19 ~

wow, wow, wow............... :sad2:
That was shocking and disappointing----hate to see those who "ride coat tails" win and claim it to be a strategy

exactly! I'm glad Russell called her out and said that the only "key" move she made was aligning herself with him!

That was the BEST Survivor with the absolute WORST outcome ever. Russell was robbed, plain and simple. He led his team and dominated that game. No one else came close. If he wanted you out, you were gone. He played it like no one else ever has. I imagine after all-stars everyone will suddenly start looking for hidden idols without the clues. That will become the norm.

I "like" Natalie. But she was not worthy of winning. She could not even tell the jury what she had done. She cried and she said she killed a rat, rode coat-tails. That is not enough, IMHO. She never even mentioned getting Erik out. She was stupified!

I felt this way when Tina won and Colby was robbed of the title. At least America got it right last night!

I am ready for an official list of All Stars!

I am so excited for Heroes vs. Villians! I cannot wait for that one. My favorite season was Fan vs. Favorites and I am hoping this one is 10 times better! If Boston Rob and Russell better both be on it though!

I have mixed feelings about last night. Russell definitely was the better player, Natalie definitely had a better social game. I do believe Natalie made a few good decisions (aligning with Russell, basically stirring up the Eric vote, keeping Mick and Jaison in the alliance). She also seemed to work hard at challenges. Russell's ego and mouth is what lost him the game. Just a little restraint would have probably swung most of the guys over to him and given him the title.

I agree that the jury was bitter and petchulant. Even Eric with the Ratalie vote acted like an idiot. Usually I really love the jury aspect of the game and how the players can put aside their feelings and vote on the winner of a "game", but this time I felt like they really didn't do their job. I liked Natalie well enough, but I think Russell should have won or at least come a lot closer than he did.

Also, I hate when they have a final 3. I do like that the players don't usually know if it is going to be a final 2 or 3 because that can really affect strategies! I hope for next season it is a Final 2 though!

Terrible decision!

I liked Natalie but without Russell, she would have beed gone long ago. It was good strategy to align herself with him but there must be more to it than that.

I didn't get Eric at all. He cheered everytime Russell orchestrated another move but when it came down to vote, he says he can't respect Russell's game play. Seems to me that he was simply a poor sport.

Also, Jaison made a comment that Natalie had the better game. If he truly thought that why did he spend so much time working with Russell and not her. Another player bitter player.

I was shocked at last night's results. I thought Russell had it in the bag. But I have to remember that it is tv and we don't see a lot of what it going on. They edit it to see what they want us to see. I was hoping both Russell's would be on the heroes vs. villians show.

I told ya'll that Russ couldn't win against Natalie. He was so cocky and his ego and mouth was his downfall. He did deserved the title of the best player but to win you have to balance your power and your ego.

I really believe this was Russell's downfall. He just couldn't keep his ego and mouth in check. He played an amazing game and he should have won, but when you come out that cocky it doesn't play out well.

Mick never even got talked to until the end. And I found it funny that Erick said that Mick didn't rally his team and was a poor leader but it was Mick and his team at the final 3. :confused3

Some of the questions that the jury asked were just stupid. They already had their minds made up and they were just playing it out.

Can't wait for Heros and Villians....

Just one thing we all need to remember.

*We* see what the show wants us to see. They edit the footage and show us "good television". We don't see everything that goes on, we don't hear every conversation, we don't experience the day to day life around camp. So what we base our decisions on, the information we use to determine who *we* at home think should be the winner may be VERY different from what actually goes on when you are living the reality.

The jury lived that reality. They expereinced everything that went on, not just the made-for-tv edit. Maybe they were bitter and maybe they made a decision that to us seems silly. But maybe there were also other factors that we just don't know about.

And we also need to remember the "social" aspect of the game. Russell may have played an awesome game but in doing so he was a BUTTHEAD. The jury gets to decide, and if they jury decides that someone who is that much of a JERK doesn't deserve a million dollars they they can jolly well decide not to give it to him. I think this illustrates an important piece of gameplay that Russell forgot about; the social game. If you play a nasty, underhanded game, you probably will get to the finals, but once you get there no one will like you, and everyone you have scr*wed over will remember it and not want to vote for you, even if you have the better gameplay. Sorry, you were a BUM - no votes for you.

I really think that with a jury composed of almost completely Galu, once Brett was eliminated, it seemed to them that they had to decide the lesser of three evils. In their minds NONE of the final three deserved to be there, and none of them was deserving of the million. Natalie just happened to be the lesser of the three evils.

But that is where they are wrong. The very fact the 4 Foa Foa members were able to beat 8 Galu members shows that the final three deserved to be where they were at.

The Galu members just couldn't stand that Russell outplayed and outwitted them. There is no other reason to give Natalie the money.

I also was disappointed about Natalie winning over Russell. However, as Jeff P. has stated over and over during the past ten years, there is a huge social aspect to the game that cannot be ignored. Natalie did not burn any bridges whereas Russell’s arrogance obviously rubbed many people the wrong way.

Now, did anyone else think, watching the reunion show as it unfolded, that Russell seemed mad? Before Jeff read the votes I got the impression that Russell was already stewing about something. After Natalie was declared the winner I suddenly thought “Russell had been tipped off that he had lost” (maybe by talking to various jury members prior to the show).

When I saw Russel sitting there all emotional before the vote, I said to my husband "I bet he realizes how obnoxious he was and looked and since he said in real life he was not like that, he was going to give away the money after he won it". Boy was I wrong!!! What a sore loser:sad2: Maybe he had that face on because he knew he lost in the Villians vs. Heros (just speculating, no clue whatsoever) game and he knew he lost this survivor from the juries reactions. So he was a 2 time loser.

I really thought he was going to win because he did outwit, outplay, outlast everyone else but obviously there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes.

Does anyone know who voted for Russel. Also, Mick looked pretty pissed that he didn't get any votes.

But that usually comes out in the reunion show. It wsn't even mentioned in this show. They were outplayed and were bitter about it.

I don't agree about being a sore loser. He truly beleived that the jury would see who played the best and that was him.

I agree. He put his heart into playing Survivor the way it should be played. I think he was in shock.

I haven't read the entire thread so forgive me if this has already been discussed.

Did anyone watch the red carpet interview with Russell? He sounds so bitter! He kept calling Natalie "the stupid blond girl". He repeated himself a few times and said "the stupid little blond don't even want to give me a title of sole survivor for $1000.00. How smart is she really? Really?"

Maybe she thought the title is priceless and not worth any amount of money that Russell was willing to offer.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand any of you who keep saying that Russel is the better player.

What is the goal of Survivor? To win or to insure getting to the finals? It's to win, and Russel didn't win.

Natalie outplayed Russel because she made him her bruiser to eliminate people and get immunity idols. Meanwhile, she started working the jury IMMEDIATELY after the merge. She was a much better social player than Russel. While Russel was being stupid and burning his bridges by lying to everyone on the jury, Natalie was being friends with them and trying to get them to like her. That's the most important part of the game for a jury like Galu who is a very social tribe. Natalie recognized that and Russel didn't.

On some seasons of Survivor, the jury is looking for the hardest player like Russel, but this season they weren't and Natalie recognized that early. Russel didn't. This is a perfect example of "Don't burn your bridges." Russel did that and this jury didn't like it. So he failed. And didn't win.

Not only didn't Russel win, but he also said he wouldn't have changed a thing. He is totally OK with lying that he was in Katrina, which is VERY disturbing to me. Russel acts like he is such a great guy and great father ... maybe the guy should try teaching his kids humility. Russel is the least humble player I have seen in a while on Survivor. It's not like he jokes around about it like Tyson from Tocantins, he HONESTLY believes that his own crap doesn't stink. The guy worships the ground HE walks on. Teach your kids humility, dude.

Russel just feels like a complete idiot because Natalie was playing the social game while letting Russel look like the dumb Silverback Gorrila who was lying to everyone and eliminating everyone.

ALSO folks, Foa Foa would be gone if Natalie hadn't gotten rid of Eric. That was the biggest move of the game. Eric was the leader of Galu and she was social manipulative enough to get him eliminated. Sure, Russel manipulated later on after that, but he wouldn't have been able to if Eric had not been eliminated, thanks to Natalie.

The last thing I have to say about Russel is that he did not do what he did during the game just because it was a game. That's pure BS. Notice how during the game when he was being evil, he would laugh the who time and have a big smile on his face about it. He laughed after lying about Katrina, laughed after dumping out his tribe's water, etc. Notice how on the live Reunion special, he didn't laugh except for when he won the $100k. The guy obviously gets off on being evil and must lock it up during his normal life and let it all out during Survivor.

Anyway, the season was very interesting and I enjoyed every minute of it. Natalie deserved to win in my opinion because she played the jury the best. People neglect that Survivor is not just about getting to the finals. The most important part is gaining the favor of the jury ... PERIOD.

Yeah, maybe so. But as the jury that is their right.

Jeff often emphasizes it. The power switches to the jury. THIS is where the social aspect comes into play. The jury gets to make whatever decision they feel like making and it is NOT only about who outwitted them. It is also about the social aspect and no jury in the world is going to give a million bucks to someone who is a complete A$$ just because he outwitted them.

Players in this game have to carefully balance all aspects of this game and Russell did not. he played an awesome strategic game, probably one of the best ever. But his social game SUCKED, and that was his downfall, IMHO.

Did they film Heroes vs. Villians yet? I always thought they filmed the Spring version immediately after the holidays.

What he said. :thumbsup2

Cause he said it better than I did. :lmao:

Just watched Russell and Natalie on the Morning Show. Russell again was stating that he was the better player and that Natalie did not deserve the win. I actually felt sorry for Natalie: why, in her moment of glory (getting the check for one million) did CBS bring in Russell?
