~ SURVIVOR Samoa ~ Season 19 ~

There is no doubt in my mind that Russell had a little help with finding the immunity idol.

How so? Do you think the show "helped" him? Don't get me worng, I love to hear conspiracy theories when it comes to Survivor being 'fixed' for drama or effect. I totally think it's possible.

Yes, I do think he was given help by the powers that be. Don't get me wrong I love Survivor, have since the 1st season but I certainly don't watch the show because I believe its true reality. Its entertainment and thats a pretty big *business*. Whatever it takes to keep em' watching the next episode :rolleyes1

I do not believe for a moment that Survivor 'fixes' things, such as 'greasing the palm' of Mike for him to agree to leave for medical reasons. If nothing else, I doubt Mark Burnett (the owner/producer of Survivor) would put himself into a contestant's power like that. If you bribe someone you open yourself up to that person coming back for more and more. Same for Russell. I don't see Burnett giving Russell such power over him.

As for finding the hidden immunity idol, Russell simply used his head. It was exemplary thinking. I smacked my forehead saying "wow, of course'. There has been a pattern of hiding such an idol within the confines of the campsite (if there is no exile island, as in this case) and Russell simply allowed himself to be guided by his knowledge of how the game has worked in the past. I bet in future Survivors (if there be) at least one contestant will immediately begin searching the campsite (no doubt, in future games the idol will be outside the campsite confines).

I'm not saying that Jasmine wasn't out of line the ENTIRE visit to Foa Foa, but BEn is a racist douche-bag.

Can you say "douche-bag" on the DIS? I guess so :confused3 Anyway, I agree that he's a piece of work. But so is Yasmin.

And over in the other camp--how stupid is Shambo to go "fishing", laze around, and lose part of the snorkel mask? Here, let me use some of this warpaint to put a target on my back...

WTH was up with that? And she goes swimming in that nasty swamp? :scared1:

What I don't get about Shambo is why would she go into the mucky water to laze around and get clean when the water in the ocean would have cleaned her off? Why not put the stuff to the side before you go in the water? or take it back to the others and let them have a try? She was clearly not thinking and will definately have a target on her back now.

I was so grossed out looking at the water she was swimming in!

Looks like Jaison figures things out pretty quick. The preview says 'it's Jaison or Russell next week.' I hope they get that puke Russell out of the game because he's not even fun to watch in his dirty underwear and sinister, sociopathic smirk. I hope those 'dumb girls' are watching and learning as they see who he really was from the beginning. His story about Katrina and his dog was so far fetched that two people questioned it immediately...gotta be something wrong with the rest of them. Did they not SEE Johnny Rotten?

I just don't see the medivac being staged but it's possible of course. They woulda been taking me outta there in a heliambulance had I been in that challenge. It was really physical!! AND if you're not allowed to intentionally trip in a challenge...why are they allowing the burning of socks, pouring out of water and general intentional mayhem of Russell?

Oh man, that NASTY pair of dirty underwear he's wearing is so disgusting. I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch that for very long.

As for the challenge, I have always felt that those kinds of challenges are just too much. There are plenty of ways they can be matched up physically without resorting to wrestling and hair pulling. And I saw several people tripping others by grabbing their ankles. I guess that kind of tripping is OK? The judging seemed very erratic.

There is no doubt in my mind that Russell had a little help with finding the immunity idol.

I think so too. It just seemed so easy.

Surely one can assume that these people sign a contract to be on survivor and are subject to abiding by it. I don't believe it would be allowed to come back for more without the threat of legal action.

I do not believe the show is totally scripted but I don't doubt it is guided by the producer to have a certain outcome in order to keep people watching. The show is on its 19th season, do you really think after that long the producers haven't learned a thing or two about making a *reality* show that everyone loves to watch?

I'm not sure what you mean. Sign a contract agreeing to accept only one bribe or payoff?

Again, my point is that I doubt that Mark Burnett would pay someone on his show to perform or act in a certain way, or agree to pretend to be injured, etc.

ITA. I am amazed it took this many seasons before someone finally thought to look for it right away.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I hate that guy, or if I admire his gameplay.

No, I never said anyone would be paid to do anything, like for example fake an injury or medical condition and be compensated for it, you brought that up, or another pp maybe?. As far as acting a certain way, yes I can believe they are encouraged to act the way the producers want. There is a reason they pick who they do, its not like they are just picking names out of a hat. IMO, Mark Burnett, or any other producer with their name attached to a franchise like Survivor woouldn't trust that the contestants themselves could make the show a success.

As far as the contract, I was just pointing out that the contestants sign one, and I'm sure they sign a confidentiality agreement. Trying to come back for more, or one up Burnett would most likely go against it and subject them to a lawsuit. Wasn't a contestant sued, or threatened to be sued awhile back? Anyway like I said, I don't believe its scripted, I don't believe contestants are bribed, but I don't believe they are in 100% control of what goes on.

Well thankfully it wasn't the "Russell hour" like last week but this week uncovered a person just as horrible - Ben. What an awful human being. I can't believe what he did when casting his vote at tribal council.

Sorry for the person who was sent home. One of my favorites.

I missed the last half of the episode last night...what happened w/Ben and Jasmine/Yasmin?

I think so too. It just seemed so easy.

I disagree..... I see why you would think it seemed to easy...

He said "I am going to find the idol" and then Voila....he had it... within 2 1/2 minutes.

But that's how they edited it, they showed him expressing his intent...they showed him searching.....they showed the payoff. This could have easily been a 8 hour search.... or 3 day search for all we know.

Some may like him / some may not. I think he makes the show interesting, and would be very disappointed if he left early.

So far, in my opinion, he is the ONLY one that deserves to win.

I agree and surprised that no one has thought of looking for the idol themselves in earlier seasons. Of course, it hasn't always been hidden around camp but you never know.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that because we really haven't seen enough of the other tribe. But as far as his tribe, quite possibly.

I missed the last half of the episode last night...what happened w/Ben and Jasmine/Yasmin?

Mainly between those two it was when she yelled at him for his behavior in the challenge. The thing I was referring to at the end of the show when he was voting for Betsy he made some reference to her being a cop then made a movement with his hand like he was shooting a gun which I took to mean he was figuritively shooting her. Inexcusable in my opinion.

So far, in my opinion, he is the ONLY one that deserves to win.

Oh banish the thought! :scared1:

The whole time he was having his heart attack I was thinking WHAT IN THE WORLD are the producers and even this guy himself thinking about letting him on the show in the first place? Totally out of shape (not that there's anything wrong with that :lmao:) but definitely not Survivor material. I mean being buff and in shape isn't everything (even that one buff guy a few seasons back punked out which was a shock) but come on? That guy was at least 100lbs over weight. How could he possibly think he could compete in challenges, unless it was the food challenges. :lmao: AND some of the people they pick I'm wondering why did they get picked just because they offer NOTHING interesting at all. :confused3

But I could say the same with almost all of these shows, seems like they more times than not pick people that aren't interesting and/or have nothing going in the looks department or personality department.

Looks like Russell is here to stay now, with the idol in his pocket, not much chance of him going home early unless he really screws up.

I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said....I really like reading everyone's thoughts. This has certainly been an entertaining first two weeks.

I'm not saying that Jasmine wasn't out of line the ENTIRE visit to Foa Foa, but BEn is a racist douche-bag.

I totally agree that Ben is a jerk. he has a mouth on him, and he is not nice at all.

BUT I am not sure he is racist, per se.

IMHO, Yasmin is everything he says she is. I wouldn't have cared if she were black, white, or purple, she is loud-mouthed, rude, and her grammer and English DO stink. She had no right to be in his face screaming at him about his conduct in a CHALLENGE in a GAME for a MILLION dollars that she signed up to participate in. Why in the world would she think that he would hold back and not treat her just like anyone else just because she's female?? And I tell you if I had heard her say "You're a DUDE" one more time I think if I were Ben I'd have smacked her.

You don't want someone to call you "ghetto trash", then for pity's sake don't ACT like ghetto trash.

Yasmin just won MY vote for "needs to be voted off soon" with her mouth and attitude.

And the ketchup sandwhiches and drinkin' kool-aid references he made?

But I agree that JAsmine needs to get das boot, and soon! She was beyond out of line one that visit.

Did anyone else trip out on how rude dude was to Jeff at TC? :lmao::rotfl2: Jeff's reaction was priceless.:scared1: I don't think he's used to anyone treating him anyway other than in typical pampered hollywood star fashion.

And the ketchup sandwhiches and drinkin' kool-aid references he made?

Those remarks were rude, and in very poor taste. And served to remind us that Ben is just as much of an uneducated idiot as he says Yasmin is.

IMHO not racist though. No more racist then if I were to make nasty remarks about the uneducated, inbred rednecks that live in the canyons around Glacier park near me. It would be uncalled-for, really rude, and poor judgement on my part, but not "racist". They drink lots of kool-aide too and eat mayonaise sandwiches (GAG), and there's not an african-american among them.

I have a rather narrower view of racism then some people do, however, and have never believed that making nasty, disparaging remarks about someone is being racist. It is REALLY not nice and definately bad judgement on my part, but not racist.

When reality shows only pick the "pretty people" or the "want-to-be actors", viewers complain that there is no diversity on the program. Personally, I like it that they have picked a variety of people to be on the show. In the past, some of these seemingly less fit people have done very well.

I agree with you. I could not figure out what she was trying to accomplish with everything she did at that camp.

Maybe they can blind-side Russell at Tribal Council -- that's the only way they'll be able to get rid of him if he doesn't expect it. He's so full of himself, he probably wouldn't believe they'd vote him out anyhow! :lmao:
