Survivor: Pearl Islands *OFFICIAL THREAD*

Off the track from last night's show - I'm from Pittsburgh and was reading the newspaper during lunch. I scanned the obits, and Jenna Morasca's mom died Wednesday - she was 48. Breast cancer.

One of the castaways commits the single worst act of deception in survivor history.

For the first time a survivor wins immunity only to have it stripped away.

Also shows Christa crying, saying she just wants to go home.

I'm wondering if the deception has anything to do with Jon? I know this is horribly cynical and I'll probably feel really bad about this next week, but it just crossed my mind. In the previews they show everyone hugging Jon, looking genuinely upset for him in some way. Like something just happened at home or like that. I'm wondering if it was a ruse, something he either set up by himself or with help from someone at home. Or maybe cheats at a challenge? I wouldn't put either of these past him. Guess we'll know for sure next week. Um, there is going to be one next week, right?

That's really sad about Jenna's mom. Thanks for posting the info though.

I was so upset when Rupert got voted off! I loved him. He was great from the beginning. My guess is that if Burton keeps that power he's got and keeps winning immunity he'll keep Lil or Jon with him because those two have annoyed enough people to keep the jury from voting for them. Who'd have ever thought that Lil would have had that much sway and power. I liked her at first but now she's so wishy washy. She makes a decision but is not firm in it. It'll be really interesting to see how the rest of the season turns out.

RUPERT DID NOT DESERVE TO BE VOTED OFF!

Rupert did not deserve to be voted off. I can't believe Lil went along with Burton and Jon. She is so gulible. Doesn't she realize they'll vote her off when they don't need her vote anymore (my guess is after Sandra, Christa, Darrah, and T are voted off). I'd like Sandra or Christa to win but since that isn't gonna happen I don't want any of them to get it. Especially the annoying weasel Jon. He gets on my nerves thinking he controls the game. His downfall might be trusting Burton too much. I hate all the backstabbing this Survivor has had. I know its part of the game but I'd like to see someone who actually deserves to win get the million. Most of the time that doesn't happen.

I've heard rumors that it is Darrah that wins. Sandra? Darrah? We shall see......

I'm still standing by my claim...Sandra did not know the others were voting to oust Rupert. Remember when Rupert, Burton and Jon were in the ocean. Rupert said, something to the effect...then everyone agrees the next one to go is Darrah. Burton and Jon agreed (not to let on about their pre-planned mutiny). Rupert, Christa and Sandra truly believed everyone was voting for Darrah. It was pure unequivocal shock on Sandra's face.

Their all going to starve now because none of them knew how to fish besides Rubert. Jon tried to fish but he caught nothing and that was with a fishing pole.

I missed Sandra's shot that took Rupert out of the immunity challenge. Did it look like it was truly an accident, or do you think she did it on purpose and made it look like an accident?

The nerve of Burton to say he wanted Rupert going into the immunity challenge weak
Yes, especially since Rupert was always concerned about others and their condition. Remember when Rupert made Morgan take the rice when they raided the Drake tribe. He always talked about how it wasn't right that others were weak and malnourished, and he continued to provide food for them, even if they were on the other team. :(

Sandra did not know the others were voting to oust Rupert
Didn't she overhear Jon and Burton discussing this?

I think it was truly a mistake on Sandra's part. She said a four letter word that they blocked out and felt bad about it so I think it was a mistake.

Now a little off topic.......My DH made a comment about the sunglasses Jeff P. was wearing and then at work this morning the guys here were saying how cool they were. I think this is a potential Christmas gift for the DH if I can figure out what brand they are......Thanks is advance for any info!

Do you think that the All Star Survivor might be the last?
I can't see CBS killing this show anytime soon. It's one of the most popular shows on TV right now, and one of the cheapest to produce.

ITA with this. I had the very same thought when everyone was whining when Jenna won. The point of the game is to get to the final 2 and win the vote. And that's what she did. Thus she "deserved" to win!

I CAN tell you that I've watched every Survivor and watching Rupert take that walk away from tribal council made me want to cry. And that's a Survivor first for me. I felt sorry for him.

do you think she did it on purpose and made it look like an accident?
I think it was an accident. Ruperts section on the wheel was at the six o'clock position, so any darts that fell short had the potential to do him in. I think Sandra looked genuinely remorseful and upset with what happened.

Is it, Grog? I never get to see the Neilson Ratings anymore and I was wondering how Survivor was faring. I'd HATE to see it go away!

If the women don't get it together and vote out the men, our final two are going to be Burton and Jon, and I don't think anybody wants to see that.

Burton seems to be trying to pull a Brian - remember Brian? The guy who won by going to the top two with the only person on the island who everybody thought was more obnoxious than he was? It looks like Burton is a little more transparent than Brian, who managed to keep his manipulations secret from the other survivors. Burton apparently thinks that no matter what he does to the others, he's a winner if he's in the top two alongside Jon, and he's managed to convince some of the women that they needed to get rid of Rupert, his only rival strengthwise. His other option is probably to go to the top two with one of the lazy girls, whichever one comes off laziest, because Survivor juries seem to deplore laziness.

I heard a rumor that the final two might be Darrah and Sandra; if true, that means the women are going to gang up on the men.

I dunno, Jenna was pretty darn lazy in the Amazon :p I've also heard the rumor that the final two are going to be women. That could happen if one the women wins an immunity challenge at just the right time (also like Jenna, who Matt, Butch, and Rob were going to vote out of the final four...until she won the next two immunities)

The gals better get smart quick or the dynamic duo of Burton and Jon are going to run ruf-shod over everyone!! And Lil is so darn weak and dumb, that she might just ruin it.

I'm a big fan of the show--have watched it from the first episode all those years ago--but the group that is now left is falling flat for me. Jon is SO predictable; Lil is the patsy; Dariah is flying so low below the radar as to be invisible that she's boring.....it's fast losing it's appeal. I'm not sure who I'd even be excited about winning anymore. No one left tugs any heartfelt feelings with me.
