Survivor: Pearl Islands *OFFICIAL THREAD*

Jon has completely exposed himself as someone who is totally morally bankrupt. He better hope he wins the million (I know everyone else hopes he doesn't) because I wouldn't ever hire someone like that for a job when his character is so reprehensible.
But, with a million dollars, he could get a law degree....::yes::

Ooh, I didn't say that... some of my best friends are lawyers. pirate:

So much for a female alliance. They are definitely a rag tag crew on that island.

Got to catch the Early Show this morning...Rupert was not available for a live interview. The reporter said that conjecture was he was on location filming for the All Star Survivor.

All right!!! I am looking forward to that. :sunny:

Last night DH and I said we weren't going to watch the rest of this Survivor. Will have to see how we feel next week. I'd love to see Johnny "Fairplay" get booted off the island. Maybe we'll just tune in for the last 15 minutes or so each week.

It's sad to be addicted to a TV show. :teeth:

As far as who is left that deserves to win, I think Sandra does. Remember she is the one who did such a great job getting the supplies on the island when the game was just starting. That gave the Drakes a major advantage from the start.

I think the reason she voted for Jon was because he totally ticked her off at tribal counsel and she let her emotions rule her vote, probably not realizing there would not be enough votes to get Darrah voted off.

I hope Sandra wins, followed by Christa. But I realize this is pretty unlikely, barring some sort of miracle.

The once great and powerful Drake tribe is sure suffering some major losses now.

I don’t believe Sandra had any part in the betrayal of Rupert. She looked genuinely shocked when Rupert was voted off. I feel, she believed what everyone had said they were going to do (vote off Darrah) and she was sending a message to Jon…that he better watch his mouth and actions because he could be next. I think now, she feels really bad because she knows her vote made the difference between life and death for Rupert.

As much as I hated to see Rupert go I LOVED the analogy of the snake swallowing the lizard. The message was clear before TC.

I thought it was so funny to see Sandra lurking in the bushes eavesdropping on Burton and Jon.

Jon is a pirate also. While Rupert is a gentleman pirate, Jon is a scoundrel.

The women should band together now. Wouldn't it be cool to see just all women at the end? Sort of different.

I would have voted Rupert off too at this point. Or Burton. I also agree that taking Jon to the end might not be good strategy. He could be voted the winner just because of the way he has played.

It would be interesting to see what they all think of the way they were portrayed after this is all over.

Do you think that the All Star Survivor might be the last?

It wouldn't be the first time all women were left at the end. Remember when it was Kathy, Neleh & Vecepia?

Just watched Rupert's interview on the Early Show. He really thought Darrah was going and had no idea. Also they said if he had won the million dollars he wanted to buy a Pearl Island of his own. So he must not be in a financial situation where he needed the money to help pay every day expenses.

I sure hope All Star Survivor isn't the last! I really enjoy this show, in spite of what happened last night. I hope no one from Survivor Thailand is on All Stars. I can't think of anyone from there I'd care to ever see again.

:( Oh no! I missed Survivor last night and I came to this thread to find out who got the boot. Am I reading this right and it was Rupert?? Who was in on it? Could someone please give me the details?

Burton, Jon, Darrah and Lil all voted for Rupert. I think the one that ticks me the most is Lil....isn't she a scout leader...don't they have a thing about always telling the truth? How is she going to be able to go back and face her scouts knowing darn well she lied to a man's face!! All her tears about feeling that she was being a -----.......well, that's what she is!! :earseek:

Thanks Always Quiet. I am glad that at least Christa wasn't in on it. I don't know if I will keep watching this show without Rupert. I just hope that good old Johnny Fairplay DOES NOT win or get second. They should have gotten rid of him when they had the chance before the merge!

Not much reason to watch with Rupert gone. I cna't stand Jon--what a creepo! Maybe the girls will form an alliance so that they can outwith "fairplay"! Lil needs to realize she is a b**** , just hope she doesn't think she can feign that she is above anyone else because of her scouting!
As for all star shows, I sure hope it isn't the end of the survivors, but I'm not a big fan of all star kind of things!

I think Sandra knew precisely what she was doing. She insured Rupert's departure even if Lil had voted for Darrah. All that looking shocked just shows how good she is at the game.

They went in hoping for a tie with Sandra, Rupert, Christa and Lil voting for Darrah, and the remaining 4 voting for Rupert. By casting a vote for Jon, Sandra had to know that, even if they had Lil's vote, that would leave Darrah with 3 votes and Rupert with 4.

She is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

WOW, I never thought about that! Nice catch.

I too was disappointed that Rupert got voted out.
To add my two cents.....
I read a rumour (I think it was Entertainment Weekly) when the show first started. Apparently last season a bunch of CBS employee's were caught wagering on who would win and early on they were betting on Jenna and ? (OMG I can't remember his name.....the scary guy) Anyway it turned out they were the final two.
At the beginning of this season whoever keeps track of Survivor betting reported a big surge in bets for Sandra. Keep in mind this is only a rumour.........but after last night I was trying to figure out if this would be possible as it looks as if her and Christa will being going next.
The only thing I can think of is if the girls get together to vote off Burton and Jon (oh please yes!)
Any other thoughts?
I will be tuning in to see if Sandra wins.....I think she is deserving. I liked her from the beginning when they were in the village buying all the supplies.
Good luck to Rupert in the All-Stars!

I don't know if Sandra really wanted Rupert off. Her expression looked way too genuine! I really think she just let her emotions rule her decision. She made it clear with Jeff that she was no way happy with Jon. Did anyone happen to hear that snide comment Jon made back to her?? I didn't hear it but I don't think it was nice!!!

Also, on the previews for next week, they were saying that someone betrays...is that the right word....the tribe. I couldn't tell if someone had trashed the camp or what. Sandra was also having some heated words with Jon!!

What sickened me the most is that look on Jon's face when they were counting the votes. I don't think I have ever seen any member of any Survivor acted in such a smug bratty fashion. Wouldn't it be nice to see Jon being smacked around by Sandra!!?? :teeth: Heck, I think even Lil could whoup his butt!! :hyper:

i have always thought the use of the word "deserving" in this is interesting. Since it is a game, wouldn't it follow that the person who manages to make it to the end "deserve" to win? I like Rupert and thought he brought a lot of entertainment value to the show, but he was very cocky and made some disturbing comments. If I were trying to win a million dollars I would not want to be competing in physical challenges with him. I also would not want to compete against Burton, and if they are smart they will get rid of him next.

I for one was elated to see Rupert get the boot. I couldn't stand the way he intimidated all of the other players. And him thinking he deserved to win? Hah! He never deserved to win. I agree with the other's thoughts regarding Sandra's vote for Jon. That way she could at least say she never voted against Rupert, but she still knew her vote for Jon would lend enough votes to get Rupert ousted.

Rupert was a bully, the way he was pouting in the end was sickening. I hope he's voted off right after Richard Hatch on the all star game.

Good riddens Rupert!!!

I watched the clip from the cbs website. I think whatever happened, Jon is the one who did it!! You can hear Burton telling someone you can't see that "You have every reason to lie!". If you listen closely, you can hear a faint MAN'S response!!

Also, from the cbs website, here is a copy of what Rupert said this morning for those of us who didn't see it.

(CBS) America's favorite pirate was given the heave-ho on Thursday night's "Survivor: Pearl Islands." but for undisclosed reasons, Rupert Boneham is not available to appear in The Early Show studio this Friday morning.

While CBS will not confirm his whereabouts, various online sources suggest Rupert may be on location for next season's "Survivor: All-Stars."

Rupert did, however, give CBS an exclusive interview soon after his flame was doused.

Holding an alligator he says, “From the time I made my audition tape, I believed in my heart it was my time to win.”

When I heard there was a pirate theme on “Survivor” seven, I fully believed that 400 years ago, I was one of the pirates out here. The treasure I was never able to go back for.

At the beginning of the reality show, he said, "This is definitely a pirate adventure."

“My tribe saw me as Blackbeard,” Rupert says, “We were going to cut my hair and beard. And I was going to be Blackbeard.”

Remembering the first days, he says, “After two days, my pants have still not dried. That second day was probably the hardest day ever. I actually begged for a dress.

“After I made that dress, Burton and Shawn and Michelle had a hey day with me,” he continues.

Some of the comments? From Burton: “Dude, whatever you do, say no to crack."

Rupert admits, “I did not like the first part of the game. It was my hardest time ever.”

Shawn also had something to say, when Rupert was sawing: “Hey look at this guy. Mr. Sawer. Oh sexy, sexy, you gonna have slots on the side."

About them, Rupert says, “They wanted the power. Making fun of me in front of others was their downfall.”

But not all was bad for him. He says, “The one saving grace was, I had the ocean. I honestly loved going fishing. I wasn't the greatest of shots when I first started. But I could still bring a sack of fish home.”

His fishing abilities won Rupert compliments.

Rupert says, “I know I was bringing enough food home that when my tribe found the treasure, they were pissed.”

Looking back, he notes, “The hardest was being away from my wife and kid and the next was being around people I could not trust.”

People like Jon, who on the reality show said, "Everybody's got a price and everybody's gotta pay because the million-dollar man always gets his way."

Rupert says, “I try very hard every day to show trust and compassion in hopes that they will learn.I tried to play this game with honesty and it was not returned.”

Reflecting on the tribal council, Rupert says, “I could not believe I would be voted out. I thought there was no way in the world that could happen.”

He recalls the moment: “So we start voting. And I believe that it's Darrah. The first three votes were two for Darrah and one for Jon. Then the next vote is for Rupert. And I'm thinking,'Could this be/' And then the second vote for Rupert and a third and I just put my head down and thought 'Oh my God. This is the end.'”

So Rupert gets voted out.

He says, “At least for 27 days, I showed that I could survive and I could help others. I – survivor - no matter where I am, no matter what I have, and no matter I do. I showed that I have some strength, that I have some worth.”

While he didn't win the grand prize, Rupert does credit the show with helping him kick a 30-year smoking habit. Had he won the million dollars, Rupert hoped to buy a Pearl Island of his own.

Here is a recap of Thursday’s show:

Thursday’s episode of Survivor: Pearl Islands came complete with intrigue, danger and betrayal.

Burton and Jon hatched a plan to topple the tribe’s de facto leader, Rupert. They recruited the women of the Morgan tribe to join in a new alliance against the 39-year-old Indianapolis native, and succeeded in eliminating him from the competition. Rupert, a mentor for troubled teens, looked both enraged and bewildered as his torch was extinguished at tribal council.

Burton and John planned their ambitious coup while on a trip to fetch water. Then, while Rupert was fishing and Sandra and Christa were collecting lemons, they persuaded the other castaways to comply.

Lillian and Burton prevailed in the reward challenge, which involved completing an obstacle course aboard a simulated pirate ship. Burton opted to relinquish his prize to Jon, but Lil chose to claim her reward. Lil and Jon then spent the afternoon sailing on a catamaran and filling their stomachs with pizza and beer.

The immunity challenge required the survivors to fire darts at a colored target. Burton, expertly wielding a blowgun, eliminated the other players from the contest and won immunity.

At tribal council, Sandra praised Rupert’s fishing abilities, saying that the tribe couldn’t exist without him, but the other castaways clearly disagreed. In a revealing vote, Rupert was voted off and became the second member of the jury.

“I always get hurt trusting people,” he admitted after his dismissal.

I liked Rupert, but he really beat himself. You CANNOT win in this game if you keep telling everyone that you're running the game; you're the one feeding them; you're the best, strongest survivor and win challenge after challenge. People will vote you off, which they did. These survivors still don't seem to pay enough attention to the past shows to realize:
1) the strongest player is never allowed to stay on for long once the merge takes place (Andrew and Rupert)
2) the most annoying person will probably not be voted off for a long time because everyone thinks they will win against him in the final (think Richard Hatch, Rob Cesternino and Clay)
3) those that sit back and let others take the initiative in voting others out, stay under the radar until the end tend to go far (think Ethan, Vicepia, and even Brian, who showed viewers his maniacal planninging but not the other survivors.
