Survivor: Palau...official Thread

I'm thinking the vote was 6 - 1. If Katie had more votes, I'm sure Jeff would have read them to make it more suspenseful. The fact he only read one, makes me think she only got the one.

That's exactly right. They always arrange the votes to be read in the order that they will create the most suspense. Therefore, Katie must only have gotten the one vote.

You ever seen anyone running around in a bikini in the artic? ;)

what was it - Africa? not enough bathingsuits...cause they couldn't/shouldn't have gone in the water...evidently they think less clothes = higher ratings.

I couldn't believe Ian did that! :confused3 As someone mentioned earlier, I don't get how someone you've known for 30 days can take that much importance in your life? What about your family and the people counting on you back home? He absolutely threw away a million bucks. He would have taken Katie for sure...he was so whipped. And he would have won over her.

I'm glad Tom won...he played a good game.

What you people are forgetting is that Ian is 22 or 23. At that age, people are generally idealistic. Given a few more years, Ian will probably understand how a million dollars could help his family, his friends, and people he cares about. But right now he's a foolish kid who's more concerned with how others perceive him and his own personal sense of ideals than money. Refreshing . . . and naive.

Tiggerpigglet, as far as your comments about Coby voting for Katie even though she disrespected his good friend Janu, look at what he said at tribal council. He wasn't voting FOR Katie, he was voting AGAINST Tom. Coby spoke very emotionally about how he was treated when he was growing up and I have no doubt that he identified Tom as yet another alpha-male-jock type, much like the people that persecuted him in his youth. Tom never had a chance at Coby's vote. Fortunately, he didn't need it.

That's right. I totally forgot he had said that. Now it makes sense :)

Normally they would reveal who voted for whom, so we could only guess that they wanted to spare her the embarrassment. Isn't a 6-to-1 win another Survivor record? After how rotten Katie was, we don't think they should have spared her.

I'm pretty sure that crazy guy who lost to Sondra only received 1 vote. And I believe every other surviver has been decided 4-3.

Wasn't it Sondra and Lil at the end of Pearl Islands? Johnny Fairplay was #3 I think...

You're right. I just had to check the old website. I was thinking of Matthew on Survivor: Amazon. I know he lost to Jenna either 6-1 or 5-2.

Didn't Twila only get one vote and Chris the rest? They speared Twila for being a liar when Chris played them all like a fiddle.

I just had to go back and check - I forgot all about the Vanuatu show and that was the most recent one. Twila lost 5-2. What a forgettable season that was. I was rooting for Ami.

It was 6-1. I do believe someone did win with a unanimous victory. I will check.

I was wrong, no unanimous victory.

Here is the voting history:

Richard 4-3

Tina 4-3

Ethan 5-2

Vecepia 4-3

Brian 4-3

Jenna 6-1

Sandra 6-1

Amber 4-3

Chris 5-2

Tom 6-1

I was finally able to watch the complete final episode last night (had taped it). Watching Tom grill Ian back at camp after the TC reminded me of a boxer when he's injured his opponent, and has him on the ropes, and keeps punching until he finishes off his opponent.

In Ian's defense, I admire him stepping down like he did...sure, the money would be nice, but money does not buy peace and happiness...just look at how Elvis ended up.

Tom played an incredible game. He's a year or so younger than me...is an inspiration that us old guys can still "kick boo-tay". I think his work experience (fireman) really helped him in the personal interaction area of the game...he's used to living with a group of diverse people, who are not family, so he was used to the dynamic of working, living, keeping peace in a group setting like survivor.

That's a good point. I had never considered that. I was a Tom fan from Day one (although Stephanie was so gutsy, she drew me in too), but I never looked at it from that angle. His experience as a fireman probably did enhance his social skills.

Sorry to bump an old thread but just heard a rumor for all you Stephenie fans:

"Survivor Guatemala - Potential Preseason Show Spoilers

* Filming begin Monday, June 27 in the Peten region of Guatemala, more specifically in Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park.

Several reports that 2 former Survivors from Survivor: Palau will participate in some way, unclear if they will be tribe members or mentors or if they actually get to compete in some way. We've been told that the two are the very popular Stephenie LaGrossa and Bobby Jon Drinkard."

This isn't the only place this rumor has surfaced. Most seem to think that Bobby Jon and Stephenie won't be competing for the millions but as mentors or possible "Mayan Gods" for each of the teams and probably paid quite well to participate. I'm not calling this a true spoiler as it it more of a specualtion at this point.
