Survivor: Palau...official Thread

I'm so glad Tom won, finally a winner who played hard every day, and showed up for every challenge is rewarded in the end.

I think when it got to the pole Ian (if he was going to jump off) should have done it in the first 15 minutes, saying I'm taking myself out of the running, you two fight it out and then decide what you want to do from there. He may have found himself in the final two, and could have saved himself 10 hours of standing on a disk around a pole in the weather!

On the Early, when they had the final four there, Jenn said something that stuck out to me.

Why would she say this? It really confused me. Still does actually.

OK, she was asked about the all girl alliance, when Steph first came over to Koror. Jenn said that her, Caryn and Katie had all discussed getting rid of Stephanie first. They way she explained herself was she said, " Stephanie was a threat, she was America's sweetheart, and she needed to go"

Why is this confusing, you ask? Well, considering that the show is taped 6 months before it is aired, HOW would the girls know, on the island that Stephanie is a viewer favorite? Jenn answered the question based on public opinion of Stephanie NOW, but the reason they wanted to get rid of Stephanie on the Island, could not have had anything to do with her being a favorite. :confused3

The stylists for the reunion show should be voted off!

. Even Steph, who I think is a very pretty girl, looked phony. This happens every year. I wish they would tone it down a bit.....

I told my dh the exact same thing. She was so pretty on the island, but I didn't like her looks last night.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. On the last few commercials this past week, they showed Jeff holding up a blank piece of paper-like someone had just not written anything on their vote. We kept waiting for something to happen last night that would explain this, but nothing ever happened. Did I miss something?????

Also, I'm another one who is sooo glad that Tom won. I was rooting for him all the way. I think he truly deserved it.

naw - you didn't miss anything...

they just "photoshopped" the name on the vote off...I guess just so they could show jeff holding up a vote and the reactions on the castaways faces.

While Wanda was singing her Survivor song that she wrote for the reunion show, who else was thinking "Thank you Mark Burnett for the twist this season, in which you made it so that 2 people didn't even start the game."

Can you imagine having to live with THAT singing?

I wish she had been on the show. I think she would have made the show a little more interesting. Actually I found this season very boring personality wise. I didn't like the idea of booting two people off right away without getting a chance to know them.

We are used to seeing these people for weeks on end with no makeup or hair styling, then they come on the reunion show and are all dolled up and they look terrible. Katie looked atrocious, I didn't even recognize her. Even Steph, who I think is a very pretty girl, looked phony. This happens every year. I wish they would tone it down a bit.....

ITA! I thought she had too much makeup on. She looked much prettier without it. I'm guessing she (and everyone else) had lots of it on since it was stage makeup.

I kept thinking that they might bring back her and Jonathan as replacement Ulong members or as a rogue tribe with some of the others that had been voted off. The only thing I didn't like about this season was that Koror never lost and a lot of people lasted a lot longer than they should have and probably didn't have to work as hard as they ought to.

NYDISMOM: I was thinking about you last night when Tom when since reading your post about him being your neighbor. We were clapping it up here so I can just image how it must have been on the block!!! Tom seems like a great, down to earth guy! Gotta love those firemen (and policemen too!)

Katie was a waste of space...her "game" WAS pathetic. Her "strategy" was to ride coat tails? and she's proud of herself for sticking to that?

whatever.

She saw Amber win with that same strategy, didn't she? I was going to throw something at the TV if that happened again.

Very interesting season!

I would have liked to ask Caryn and Jenn why both of them at different times killed the idea of a "women's alliance". If they had been able to vote off Tom, Ian and Greg, their chances of winning would have been so much greater!

It seems like Jenn's desire to get rid of Stephanie was greater than her desire to win a million dollars!

And, if I understood correctly, Caryn passed on a guarantee to get to the final four or five with the women because Tom promised to get her to six!

I dunno? Werent' they filming this season while All-Stars was playing?
hmmm...

but good point...however, Amber might have road coat-tails...but she wasn't flat out lazy like Katie.

this coming from the "anti-romber camp" heheheh

I thought she looked terrible at the beginning, but that was when the castaways were mainly lit by the fire onstage. When the house lights came up later she didn't look so bad. So maybe her stage makeup wasn't 'tuned' for firelight?

I'm officially fired up for Survivor: Guatemala, by the way. We stopped at Guatemala on a cruise a few years ago, and DW and I went to Tikal. Tikal's the biggest Mayan ruins of them all, and I'm pretty sure it's what they showed in the previews. I even climbed to the top of the tallest pyramid.

I can't imagine that they'll let the survivors live in the middle of the ruins, but I'll bet they at least visit Tikal a few times.

And when Jeff cut her off before she could sing the second verse, I was thinking "thank you Jeff Probst" too.

And Jonathan appears to be no prize either. That was a twist that worked out great, IMHO.

All-Stars aired last spring and they I think they filmed Palau in November/December so they would have been able to see Amber in action (or lack thereof)

As another poster said though, Amber wasn't lazy and she also wasn't catty and cruel like Katie. I hate to see poeple win when all they do is ride coattails but Amber was better than Katie any day. I honestly would have much rather seen Rob win on the All Stars season. He played the game hard and put himself out there in the process. Amber won because she let Rob be the bad guy while she got to sit back and be the sweet one. But Katie had NOTHING going for her. If she was going to play by attaching herself to strong players, she has to bring something to the table. If she had tried to be NICE every once in a while, she would have come off as the little sister type and maybe would have gotten more votes. Other than Clay, I think she was the dumbest player to ever get so far in the game. :sad2:

It amazes me to no end that people on that Ian put a person he has know for just over a month above the people in his own family...

THIS IS A GAME...not a high school election...AAArrrrrrggggg.

The main thing people need to remember is that YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW THESE PEOPLE...

I could never pick someone in the game to be completely loyal to as I have family at home I am loyal to above all...

Ian made a huge mistake,

Do you think Tom would have won over Ian?

I'm another one who agrees what Ian did was a huge mistake, but I do not believe he would have beaten Tom, but I do think he would have beaten Katie. Had Ian won that challenge (and he may well have), I'm sure he would have picked Katie, thereby assuring his million dollar win. I'd be kicking myself if that was me ;)

I think so..but I'm a little prejudiced. ;) But I think Tom would have out-talked Ian to the jury and won it all. Ian was just way too wishy washy and naive to win (and I really had enough of his crying!)

ahh...ok.
Sorry - I can NEVER keep the seasons straight for some reason!

Could you imagine if Ian had won immunity and taken Tom?
Katie would have ripped him to SHREDS during the jury questioning "why didn't you take ME...you promised ME...*I* was supposed to do everything you did...why didn't you think of ME in all this?"
