Survivor - Guatemala

I always liked Bobby John and felt really bad for him and the other guys that got so sick. It was freaky when BJ's eyes kept rolling back.

Poor Jim! But if he really tore a muscle then he would have to go.

I enjoyed the first show. I love the ruins.

 is right. I live in the Pittsburgh area where she's from and that whole season it was Jenna, Jenna, Jenna. (need a spewing smiley). Amber's from around here too. (insert another spewing smiley) The news stations just went on and on about them.

I'm very happy with the way the season is starting off. Very grueling. It was nice to see some strong women, especially the ones who had to take care of the guys. But I felt so bad for those men -- they've probably never experienced periods of weakness and pain like that. Can you imagine?

I, for one, am so thrilled to see Stephenie and Bobby Jon get another chance!

IWhich got me thinking- if you were one of the castaways, who would you try to get an aliance with?
Well, since I haven't really gotten a feel for any of the new players yet, I'd have to go with Steph because I don't think I've ever seen a tougher woman -- or Bobby Jon just because he'd be not-so-bad to snuggle up with!

Geez, I can't stand Steph or Bobby Jon! I hope they ditch those two early in the show!!

That was the best season opener since Rupert stole the other casts gear! I haven't picked a favorite team yet. I like Steph and we didn't get to see much of her teammates last night, so I can't comment on them. I guess I'm leaning more toward Bobby Jon's team so far. I like him, the nurse seems really nice (they better keep her...they're going to need her), and I have to add that the one guy is HOT! I don't know what his name is, but he kind of resembles Bobby Jon...oh, the one who got hit in the shoulder by the tree branch. Nice Abs! I think it's going to be an interesting season.

I think it was foolish last night at TC, when Bobby John mentioned that he was getting a second chance at $1M. I don't think his team mates needed the reminder--I don't think he and Steph will last to the end, I think they'll get voted off once the teams get used to building fire and so forth.

What can they eat out there, besides vegetation? If they snag a lizard or a howler monkey, can it be lunch? I'm just curious, I know sometimes they can, sometimes they can't, and I'm sure eating endangered species is out of the question, even if they could somehow snare a jaguar.

I thought Margaret rocked last night. I hope she goes far. Didn't care for Farmer Boy, but man, Blake did have some nice muscles. I hope his shoulder heals okay.

OT, but my DS8 passes out easily, and he looks just like Bobby John did last night with his eyes rolled back in his head! I was getting weird flashbacks. DD2 also passes out, but her eyes shift right when she does. It was just really, really weird to see on TV.

I never laughed so hard as I did last night when all the guys were barfing. The big tough guys....and we had to watch, what, 15 min. of each of them barfing. :rotfl:

When I heard the first one going (Blake I think?) I thought it was the noise the monkey's make at first cause it was so LOUD :rotfl:

I was really freaking out when Bobby Jons eyes were rolling back though!

I just couldn't put myself through that torture.....Survivor is SO not for me!

I also agree with BuzznBelle'smom that Bobby Jon shouldn't have reminded his tribe that this is his second chance to win a million.

As it was said last night and that we saw last season-bobbi john is not the brightest lightbulb in the bunch.....

Never liked to see other people whether in real life or tv barfing - it just makes me want to do it also...

I watched the show when I got home from Bingo (carryover coverall 49 numbers or less $52,972!!!!! No, I didn't win but neither did anyone else....)

Anyways, My DH asked what I thought this morning and I told him I think that the guys must have had IVs given to them or something because I don't see how they could have recovered from the dehydration so quickly on the small amount of water that they broguht with them.

Bobbie Jon seemed in pretty bad shape so maybe the producers stepped in some. The guys all seemed to be doing real well the next day. Does anyone know about dehydration? Seemed like a quick recovery to me.

I don't like the fact that Steph and Bobby Jon get to compete again. I too thought they would be used as guidence.

Another thing I was thinking about when Jim got voted off is that they should do a survivor consisting of all the people that got voted off first. That would be fun to watch!

Should be a good season!

I did kind of feel bad for the men though, cause they did have to carry a lot of the supplies on the trek. It didn't look like the women were carrying much at all. And poor Blake, the branch falling on him was purely coincidence, nothing he did. I wonder if there were poisins in the branch, or if he gets an infection from it going so deep, he looks pretty bad next week.

I don't think the producers can step in and help them. If something happens that requires medical attention, I think they have to call for the medics and then that person is done with the game. I don't think they are allowed to come back. The only person I ever saw them call in the medics for was Michael on Outback (burned his hands in the fire), and he wasn't allowed to come back. I remember him saying that he refused to take an IV or any food/water in the hospital because he thought they would let him come back, but they wouldn't.

I do like Steph and her reaction last night when her team won the first immunity challenge. I think that they naturally focused on her and Bobby Jon last night b/c we know them. Once the other tribe mates start distinguishing themselves, I don't think they will get as much screen time. Same thing happened with the first episode of Amazing Race that Rob and Amber were in.

That is exactly what I started thinking. I wonder if he will make it thru next week or not.

I was surprised to see how well BJ, Blake and Jim were able to pull that boat for their team after being so sick.

Looks like it is going to be a good season. Doesn't seem like there will be much swimming or cooling off unless you want to swim with the gators. :earseek:

When they showed a close-up of the fire ants, I thought for sure maybe someone would step in them.

How come the yellow team who got the "better camp" were never in the ruins?

Are they not allowed to go in there? I thought I read somewhere that Mark Burnett got permission for them to use the ruins???

I would have been exploring them like crazy!!

Bobbie Jon was STUPID to mention the $$. They are going to use him until and then dump him. Which is what I would do if I was one of them :earboy2:

Oh, that WOULD be fun to watch!

I'm glad to see Steph back - I felt like the last time she would have done much better, except she got stuck on a weak team, and then joined the other team as such an "outsider" that she never got a chance. Bobby Jon, however, never contributed much the first time around (besides being eye candy  ), so I don't think he should have been given another chance. But seeing as how sick he was last night, I doubt he'll last long.

Blake is a hottie, but when I saw how sick he got after getting all those thorns in his shoulder, I kept thinking "allegeric reaction." I hope he'll be ok; I'd rather see him stick around instead of Bobby Jon.

Right now, I'm rooting for Steph, Blake and Margaret. Geez, what would that tribe have done without Margaret! And I agree that the producers must have stepped in with extra water for the guys; they bounced back way too fast.

And isn't it funny - it was only the men on Bobby Jon's team (sorry, I don't know the tribe names yet) that got so sick after the hike. None of the men (or women) on Steph's team got that sick. Both teams did the same 11 miles.

Anybody know if they're doing the Survivor Fantasy League again this time? I saw on the website that they're doing some contest where you have to spot a former Survivor driving a Pontiac in your city, take a picture and send it in to be entered to win a car. (We have to look for Gervace here in PA)
