For those that watch survivor.

When the women's tribe won the immunity challenge and possession of the idol, one person, Joanna, wouldn't let the tribe keep the idol in their camp because of her strong religious beliefs.

So what do you think, should she have been allowed to get her way over the rest of the tribe?

Or not make such a big deal out of it since it really wasn't a "real" idol.

I think they should have totally ignored the irritating woman and put it where ever the heck they wanted it. Has she never watched an episode of Survivor? Does she not understand that you are supposed to 'want' the idol?

Mods, why was this moved to the CB?

Where did you post it?

IMO, since she knew the immunity idol was part of the deal going in, she should hold her tongue and just deal with it. If she felt that it would compromise her faith, she shouldn't have come on the show. She is alienating her tribe mates and fans. I'm a Christian but since I've never seen anyone worship the immunity idol it hasn't bothered me one bit - never even occured to me. I would've said what Christy said "that's stupid!".

What a drama queen! If she doesn't worship it, it's not an idol, it's a toy or a prize won in contest. I think she should have been quiet, especially while others were trying to sleep! She just need attention.

Where did you post it?

On the DB and it was moved here about a minute or two after I posted it.

I think the one girl who was having a problem with the "idol" just wanted to cause a rift. It is just a doll, not a "religous" idol.

My guess is that it was moved because it was not in debate form. Meaning you possed the quesiton but did not give your side/opinion.

I think this woman is an idiot. The whole point of Survivor is to win the immunity idol to stay in the game! I think they definitely should have voted her out. If she had been praying aloud all night long I would been extremely upset. I don't know why she gave Kristy such attitude either? She freaked on her but not the others for talking about what happened. Can't wait to see her gone.

I think she's a moron. Like Saffron said, as long as she isn't worshipping it, it isn't an idol.
I really don't like her, and hope she is the next to go.

Don't get me started on this...as someone who claimed to be a Vessel of Christ and then treated Kristy the way she did, I really wanted to gouge her eyes out.

I look at it this way, just because the stupid thing is called an immunity idol doesn't mean it's truly an idol. I mean, is everyone sitting around praying to it? No. Are they kneeling before it offering up gifts? No. It's a stupid piece of wood that is won, and probably right after the win it's never thought of again until the next immunity challenge.

Here is my opinion of this woman:

She obviously isn't a very good student of Christianity or she would realize that the immunity idol is an idol in name only.

I totally agree with Miss Jasmine, well...maybe except for the "gouging her eyes out" part. ;) I couldn't believe the fuss she made over the doll. It's not an idol for worship. She had no reason to complain about it. And then for her to treat Christy the way she did, where was her Christian attitude then? Shame on her!! I don't like her at all and hope she goes next!!!

Well yeah, but isn't that why it rained on them??!! You know, because they worshipped that idol and God got mad?? I think not!!!! What part of the 'immunity idol' didn't she know about before she auditioned?? Her behavior hasn't been very Christian in my eyes.

In the first show, I liked Joanna, but I think like others have said she may be a drama queen. In the first few episodes, it is better to fly under the radar than piss people off.

John, I don't think this is really a debate topic so I think that is why it was moved to here.

I think she just wanted some camera time.

Maybe I didn't phrase it properly.

My main point for posting was to "debate" the Religious rights of one vs. the rest of the group in that situation.

I totally agree with Miss Jasmine - it's just a prize won in a contest. If people were actually worshipping the thing, then ok, she had a reason to be so upset. And for her to get so snotty with Christy and shove her hand in Christy's face - that was NOT a very Christian thing to do. Let's see.....none of the women are thinking about Christy's being deaf and trying to talk TO her so she can read their lips, and yet Joanna wants everyone to cater to her "belief" about the immunity idol? I hope Joanna is the next one to go!

I rather doubt Joanna is the next to go. She won't get voted out for the same reason the tribe needed to hesitate over Kristy...she is very strong and apparently reasonably intelligent. In challenges she's been a huge asset. And...since you want to win you are playing as a team you want to think twice about dumping your strongest player ... no matter how obnoxious she may be. The men can afford to do something like that...they have strength to spare.

I thought the whole immunity idol brouhaha was weird...if you had watched the show you would know team play involves an idol, individual play a necklace. But just because I think she's smart doesn't mean she's playing with a full deck.

I think they should have moved Johanna out of the tribe! What idiot joins Survivor when they know that winning the idol is everything? I was really hoping she would have been the one voted off last week. I felt sorry for that deaf girl when Johanna blasted her for calling her stupid. I can only hope they lose next week and she is voted off.

I have to add something and I hope no one takes it as racist or nasty. Does anyone else notice how each Survivor has the token black, token gay or lesbian, old man, old woman, etc.? And each one is also a perfect stereotype. Johanna is a loud mouth black woman. The old white guy acts bossy. The old woman is sickly. The young girls are bursting at the bras. The young guys do pretty much nothing but gloat that they are going to win. Yeah, right. LOL! Every new season has the show filled with stereotypes. At the first show we name the people before they even speak. About Johanna I said, "That is going to the big mouth black woman that will play the race card as time goes on." My son said right away about the old guy is going to tell everyone what to do. The girls popping out of their tops was so obvious. The only new type of person was the deaf girl. Does anyone else find these stereotypes annoying?
