Survivor All Star OFFICIAL THREAD!

I understand that it IS a game, HOWEVER, is this any different that allowing a child who has cheated on a test to accept an A+ grade? I honestly have only watched 3 full seasons. I watched one episode of the first season and was totally floored. Silly me thought that to WIN the game, you had to prove that you were the best player by working hard, being smart on your survival skills...not being either a "rat or a snake"! :earseek: I enjoyed the second season because the players who competed honestly and actually worked made it to the final 2. Quickly lost interest in the following season because of the deceit. Loved the past 2 seasons (Pearl Island and All Stars) simply because I like how Rupert plays the game.::yes:: I just don't feel like rewarding people for dishonest behavior is a good thing...in REAL life or on reality tv.

I don't agree that in season two the players who played honestly made it to the final two. Colby lied to and led Jerri and that chef Keith on for just about the whole game. Also, the one reason I didn't like Tina is that after Jerri accused Kel of hiding and eating beef jerky, Tina snooped in his backpack to see if he was hiding any. Tina did have some good moments, like saving the rice, but she wasn't completely honest.

huh?

As a society, we should be trying to set a good example for our youth. Giving a child a perfect test score on an exam that he cheated on is the same as awarding a million dollars to someone who "out lied, out cheated and out screwed" his fellow players.

hmm, I guess I just don't see it that way. I don't use Survivor (or any television show for that matter) to raise my kids.

To be fair, I don't think anyone is saying that they do raise their kids according to a TV show. But once something becomes acceptable, it is more difficult to cal it wrong.

Unfortunately, parents are not the only things that influence our children!

This has gotten OT, but back to the Survivor/child cheating on a test analogy. Survivor doesn't have any rules (other than physically hurting another player), so how can someone cheat on Survivor? I just don't see the similarity.

I think there is a big difference between the way Rich played the game in the first season, and the way Rob did.

I liked the way Rich played a psychological game. You could see it from the start. Rob's game was just based on stirring up trouble with the others and stabbing them in the back.
Different strokes.......

Each season the players have to find ways to push the limit more and more. (ie Johnny Fairplay)

I guess the difference this season was that usually the "bad guy" eventually got voted out because the others saw what he/she was doing. Adding the element of personal relationships, some of the players expected more from others. I think Rob made it so far without getting voted out was because most of the players knew him outside the game (ie. Kathy) and gave him the benefit of the doubt. Once they realised what he was up to, they figured he was the best person to take to the final two......because the jury didn't like him.

The only thing I didn't like was the personal relationship with Rob and Amber. It wasn't tag-team Survivor - it's individual. This wasn't the Amazing Race-Survivor.
I believe they stopped the camera when Rob and Amber were left on the post at the final challenge and ready to make a deal........did you see Jeff's reaction. I think they were warned not to make it look like they were so together.......just my speculation.

Only a few more hours until Rupert get's his million.......:teeth:

wow rupert won- what a surprise:rolleyes:

is anyone else surprised that rob got to the top 4 or that the top 4 were all men???

also, why did they need to take the first 10 min to talk about jerri and her opinion. this isn't even a situation so why are they making it into one? i am grateful, though, that they only spent a little time on rob and amber. i've seen enough of them to last me awhile:rolleyes:

I thought Jeff sounded a little ticked at Jerri with the last comment about being there because they were under contractual obligations.

I thought the whole Jerri thing went on too long.

Just finished watching the video tape. I was surprised that Rob got into the final four. I wished Kathy made it to the final four but all guys...hmmm....

I agree, Jerri had more than her time in the spot light.

Not surprised at alll with Rupert winning.

I think Jeff really enjoyed doing this Survivor "tribal council". He seemed to be having fun and, like he said himself, getting a couple of last time "digs" in.

I was surprised that Amber won the hottest babe category.

I could have done without seeing Johnny Fairplay.

I hear ya regarding Johnny Fairplay. Does that guy think he is a celebrity, or what? What a dork.

My DS had a band performance tonight and I forgot to set the VCR . . . so please provide all the juicy details about what I missed tonight!!! Thanks!! Who were the guys in the top 4?

Sorry, no juicy details as I was kind of half watching while trying to clean house.

But the top 4 were:

Rupert
Colby
Big Tom
Boston Rob

Nothing too juicy - Colby was "sexiest" guy, Amber was "hottest" gal, Johnny Fairplay (jerk) was in the audience, Rupert's daughter is cute as a bug's ear & his wife was crying when he won, and they announced the location of the next Survivor season.

I liked last night's show and so glad Rupert came out on top. I would have like to see Kathy in the top 4 but oh well. So glad Boston Rob made it. He may be a schemer and liar but he played a heck of a game. Kudos to him. My 16 yr old asked if I was on Survivor would I play like Boston Rob? Not my personality, I think I'd play more on the level like Kathy-trying to be everyone's friend. Would I win? Heck no. But different strokes for different folk.s Rob played hard and he proved it last night being in the top 4. I would have loved to see 2nd, 3rd and 4th place order.
