Survivor All Star OFFICIAL THREAD!

I liked how as soon as Jeff gave Rupert the million dollar check, he handed it immediately over to his wife! ::yes::

Ugh, this just killed me. I was so not in suspense through the show. The thing is, my taste in contestants has alwasy been somewhat out of whack with the rest of viewing public, so watching my most hated All-Star win a million dollars made my head want to explode. Truthfully, what pisses me off the most about it is that he doesn't need a million dollars to think he's the most important and noble person who's ever played Survivor. It's not like he doesn't already think that, and hasn't already thought that all along. In other words, the guy's ego really has nowhere to go from here, so at this point, I just hope he gets off my tv and I never have to see him again. In my opinion he did nothing to actually deserve that money other than roar and talk about how he was picked on as a kid and everyone ignores his complete inability involving interactions with other people during the game. The whole hour was like a commercial for Rupert.

I hate that they gave another million dollar prize based on popularity. Instead of outwit, outplay and outlast, they are rewarding people based on popularity. The show hasn't quite jumped the shark yet, but they're testing out the water skis, that's for sure.

Loved the smackdown Probst gave Jerri.

Does anyone think that if Amber & Rob were not a couple that Rob might have ended up with the 2nd million?

I like how Jeff didn't pull back any punches last night.:teeth: Jerri didn't look too happy when he said the whole thing about contractual obligations. Or, when he said "I hear from TV Guide that you are upset with me about something". She really backpedalled with her answer. It was also interesting when he said that Rob had an advantage by working the public this past week when he was on all the talk shows. I don't recall any other runner up getting on as many talk shows. I doubt he would have been invited to appear if he and Amber weren't engaged.

Pretty much everyone/everything I voted for won though. With the exception of hottest female--I voted for Elizabeth. I've seen more than enough of Amber lately.

I wish they would have told the percentages of votes everyone got. I wonder who came in second place--I hope it was Colby. :)

I watched Rupert on CBS's morning show. They asked him if he knew what percentage of the vote he received. I believe he said he received 85% of the votes! :bounce:

It's nice to see that nice guys DO finish first sometimes. ::yes::

Anyone else NOT going to watch if a network makes The Wedding of Rob and Amber into a series?? OH!!! Did you catch Jeff's comment that he is an ordaned minister and he could perform the ceremony right then?! Funny, I never pictured Jeff that way!

Wow, Chesirechik, you and I watched completely different shows last night. At first, I though it was going to be the Colby hour. I left the room when Big Tom was voted into the final 4 because I can't understand much of what he says anyway, so I knew I wouldn't miss much. Then the tide turned to my favorite survivor ever... Rupert. He played the game with such heart. I loved watching him in PI and I enjoyed him in AS. I think he's a lot smarter than some people would give him credit for being. BR's attitude bugged me. Yeah, he should have won the people's choice.

I hope Rupert goes onto Hollywood and we see a whole lot more of him. I was so glad that he won... for him and his family.

Who wants to place wagers that Rupert will be in Pirates of the Caribbean II? Anyone?? pirate:

So happy Rupert won - and BR complaining up until the end. Hey, dude - if you really wanted to win, you shoulda booted out your girlfriend. BR played the game well, but Amber was the ultimate player who played the player. ;)

Pearl Islands was the only season of Survivor we missed, and now I wish we hadn't. I enjoyed Rupert in this All Star season, but from what I saw yesterday, it seems I've really missed the essence of him. I do think he is a nice guy, but I mostly remember him as the guy who screwed up the shelter by digging a hole on the beach.

But I've got to laugh - everyone loves Rupert for his honest playing, but isn't everyone's favorite moment, too, when he stole the other tribe's shoes? I know it's not the same as lying and backstabbing, but it sure isn't very honest!

I say good for Rupert. And I was glad to see Tom seemed to genuinely enjoy the fact that he had two awesome Survivor experiences. I really like Tom, and he seems to have truly appreciated his ventures in the wild.

I'm glad that Rupert won the million since he seemed to be the one that could use it most. I would LOVE to see him in POTC 2!!!

I also agree that Elizabeth should have won the hottest girl, not Amber. Wasn't it funny that almost everyone that won was part of Survivor All-Stars?!

Do you think there will be an All-Stars 2 in the future??

Thanks for some details on what happened last night! My friend set her VCR to tape it and her DH changed it to tape basketball!!! :crazy2: :faint:

Even though the second million dollar prize was a popularity contest (which I think is great - Go Rupert, Aaaargggh!), IMHO it was also a stroke of brilliance on Mark Burnett's part. By having the season close on such a high note, giving America's favorite underdog the top prize, he almost ensures that his core audience will tune in to next season's Survivor.

If anyone remembers last summer's other reality show "Big Brother", that show ended with two of the most despicable people in the final two. I could not root for anyone to win, or even to lose, because that meant the other slimegal would win.

As Jerri pointed out, this is all entertainment. They play a game to win and the producers select villains to spice up the action. But Jeff's final words are what really drives home this point - there wouldn't be a show if there wasn't an audience.

By giving big hearted Rupert his due, Mark Burnett is keeping his audience happy and his own coffers full.

My two cents, Steve

I think that is because that is what is freshest in people's minds. PLus I am sure that there are people who have never watched any other Survivor series, or at least not all of them (like I have!!:p )..............P

Do you think that Johnny Fairplay might be a little upset that he wasn't a part of Survivor All Stars?

I'm happy that Rupert won last night.

Do you think that Amber winning the money plus winning most beautiful might stick in BR's craw, especially now that he didn't win the second million?

Can't wait for the next Survivor!

Just a little bit.

I'm glad they didn't put him back on. I think he should have been disqualified for that grandmother stunt he pulled.

I have to say that when they were showing the clip of Johnny saying that his Grandmother was no longer here, and Lil was sitting next to him holding his hand-The look on her face had me cracking up! It just brought back all of the memories of Pearl Islands and Lil crying all the time. :p She was great! :D

I felt the same way when I saw that clip!

This season's Survivor (All-Stars) has been my favorite, with Pearl Islands at a close second :sunny:

I can't wait to see what the next group of castaways will be like

I totally agree! I think people get caught up in the whole popularity contest and forget about what the game is all about. OUTWIT! OUTLAST!! OUTPLAY! I don't think Rupert did any of these things.
Rather, he did indeed do those things, just not in such a cut-throat manner. He knows that he has to live with himself after the game is over. By winning this million we see proof-positive that he even outplayed Rob.

I want to go back to something always quiet started to discuss a few pages ago. How many people want Survivor to adopt rules or policies that punish such bad behavior? It's just a game, and why shouldn't the rules of the game be changed to make it harder to win? ...especially harder to win by deception!

I'd like to see Jeff reveal at every Tribal Council everything juicy that his camera teams caught over the previous three days: "Hey, Tom: Did you know that BRob has promised six people spots in the Final Four?"

That would force people to play smarter -- to figure ways of allying with integrity... to manage their strategy in light of the fact that anything they try could be brought to light. That would definitely make it more interesting.

I agree with Bicker (sorry didn't read the whole thread) that it would be very interesting if Jeff did bring up some tidbit of gossip for the survivors to chew on. I am happy that Rupert won and it would be great to see him in POTCII! I am awaiting Rob and Amber's wedding and forthcoming divorce about 1-2 years later. Should be interesting. Looking forward to the next survivor.
