Survivor 41

If you watch the first few Ponderosa videos they all come in and bash Xander. Seem fixated on him.
Oh, I didn’t know that. I haven’t watched any of the Ponderosa videos. I just figured Tiffany, Evvie, and maybe Naseer would vote for Xander to win.

How many juries go in bitter and then have a change of heart once they are there? Will they realize that Xander was the best player after they've had time to reflect?

He's come from the bottom so many times and he hasn't had to use the idol that he found early on in the game.

I really hope Heather (who's that?) gets her act together. Most likely she'll get dragged along to the final 3 and inevitably she'll be asked "what big moves did you make in the game" I can't wait to hear her answer to that one! I really think Xander is playing a great game. Even though there's a lot of Ricard hate, once Shan left we're getting to see how he's playing the game.

I listened to Danny's interview on RHAP. He also talked about how no one really felt like Xander was a threat to win when Rob asked him about why they didn't try to get him out or flush his idol. I'm a little confused about how Xander isn't considered a threat to win.

If Xander gets to the final, he's got a lot to work with as a resume, but I guess it's debatable if he can pitch that idea or if the jury actually cares about what is said at final tribal. Stephen Fishbach seemed to say that people usually aren't swayed by the final tribal anyway.

I guess Xander wouldn't be a threat to win if most folks sort of worked together and he was a lone wolf they wouldn't vote for. Seemed like all the others were in one big slide puzzle like group. Where sometimes this handful worked together and sometimes another different handful worked together buy there was no real 2 sided division. And then there was Xander on an island of 1. Plus he kinda maybe went a bit too far to take down his threat level...he went too invisible maybe. But I see it as strategy because he is somewhat like Joe Anglin, Malcom, Ozzy types where he is young male comp beast type they gun for as soon as they merge. He managed to last without even winning II (the others mentioned were booted as soon as they didn't win II, if they didn't have an idol). Danny was that type too and they booted him. So he didn't hide his threat level as well as Xander. But problem is that now Xander has no later game resume. Except to point out that he kept off their radar the last few votes.

Yeah, Stephen also talked about at this point, there's not so much scheming since there's only so many people left to work with, it's just survive and make it to the final. Xander gets past the next Tribal for sure, so he's final 4. If he wins an immunity or wins the fire making, then he'll have some late game stuff. I thought he was a big threat and made an amazing move in tricking Liana into trying to claim his idol, but I guess his moves have been less since.

We all have to remember that we only see what the producers show us. I've read that there were some bigger moves that were left on the editing floor. Not sure if they will come up in the finale, but the way Xander presents to us in his confessionals may be very different to how he was perceived by the other players.

On one hand, the concept of a jury always has the possibility of the favorite winning rather than the best player. On the other, the same could hold true of an audience vote when the edit could really affect how viewers perceive the game. I'm always interested in how the editing Big Brother tv episodes differ from what you see in real time on the live feeds.

True. Danny also mentioned that on the day they voted out Shan, he actually had a conversation with her about wanting to get Ricard out. I can't recall if she approached him or if he heard that Liana had told her they were going to target Ricard. In any event, they cut that out, leading the viewer to think this was only discussed between Shan and Liana.

Was just reading at ew.com that Probst reveals the winner AT the final tribal. They decided to do that since they weren't going to have a live show. He says they also did a post-reveal chat session with all the remaining players (after pizza and champagne), so that replaces the reunion. Sounds pretty cool.

Also makes me think that Xander has a very long shot, either that or Danny gave a LOT of misdirection in his RHAP interview. It's one thing if he didn't know who won, but he did.

I haven't looked at any spoilers but it probably means there are more of them floating out there than normal. It would be SO HARD to behave as if you didn't know if you won....if you had.

I changed my mind on Ricard since the show started changed to like his game, probably because his camera talk allotted or at least what was used by producers, was about the game. I could see him better as a player that way.

Shan started good, but to me her game started to go wrong after merging up with Liana. Top three to me that should win would be Ricard, Xander, and Deshawn. But not all three will go, because Heather is a taker to go to the end with. I don't know why anyone would give her a vote. Deshawn is probably not a popular opinion, but he played it better than his former alliance which is why he's still in.
