Survivor 20**HvV**No SPOILER THREAD**

I think he felt the your a loser vibes at the finaly tribal council to win a million dollars. I am sure he got many cold shoulders and nasty comments after the first game ended and the new one started too. Everyone obviously disliked him.

I don't think so. Just prior to that scene where he's sitting on a rock, he was talking about how great he was. I think that the rock scene was shot in a studio and not on the island. The part that's got me confused is that he was still pretty skinny and his appearance looked like he was still playing the game. :confused3

Oh, and how did Russell know he didn't win Samoa if he filmed HvV right after? I couldn't figure that one out.

When did he say that? Are you referring to the Reunion Show last night, or did he say it at some point during the show? I don't recall.

But I did look up the filming and air dates for his two seasons.

S19: Samoa filmed June 11, 2009 – July 19, 2009 and the finale was on December 20, 2009.

S20: HvV filmed August 9, 2009 – September 16, 2009 and the finale was last night.

So he had a few weeks between the filming of the two seasons. And he had filmed both before either finale, before knowing the outcomes of either.

If said during the HvV filming, he could have just thought it in his best interest to say he didn't win.

But....before they went to the final tribal to decide the winner, There is a shot of Russell sitting on a rock high above the water and it's pretty obvious that it's a green screen behind him. During his interview he makes a statement along the lines of last time he took the weak players with and since that didn't work, this time he was changing his game plan and taking prior winners.
I was just coming to ask the same thing. I thought maybe it was taped afterwards, but it was before they were cleaned up.
I thought it was obvious that he knew he lost.

Also about the editing. They're a couple deleted scenes where Colby is fishing, he explains how he goes and provides as much as he can, on day 37 he went fishing, the girls cleaned the fish and Russell did nothing.

Many other scenes where the girls were cutting vegetables, cooking, Rupert fishing and catching clams while Russell was sitting on the beach just watching and running is mouth.

Rupert and the girls cutting wood, they mentioned going to a place to get water, etc. And yet "the best player" doing nothing, lazy.

Did anyone notice that one of the constant that kept asking Russell if he had any regrets and Russel kept saying NO. Then the girl said that's to bad no one on the jury was going to vote for him. I wonder if they talk about there vote before they vote. I had always thought they were ketp seperate.

I'm sure that was just Danielle's opinion but I don't think there is any rule about the jurors sharing information.

He said it during the show last night before the final TC.

If you watch it, it's about at the 65:15 minute mark. He says"tonight I believe that I have a good shot at winning this. Last season I brought 2 people because I thought that I could beat them. Because they were the weak players. And I didn't. I'm bringing people that other people don't like P has a lot of enemies. Sandra, she didn't do noth'n. At the end of the day, the reason that she's here is because she's easy to beat."

How did he know that he didn't beat the "two weak players" in his first game if H vs V ended filming 3 months before his first season's finale? :confused3

Like some suggested. Maybe they had him film 2 interviews, one if he won the first and one if he didn't.

It still looks like a green screen to me. When did we ever see them high on a cliff above the water like that during the season?

edited to add...

We noticed that there were very little, if any, swimming challenges this season. Now that Colby said that they weren't allowed to fish, swim and dive it makes sense. Does anyone know why? Is the water around the island unsafe (sharks, coral, tide...) ?

Darn, I tried to use the picture of JT and me as my avatar and it wouldn't load -- we went to a "Survivor" party here in Celebration last year that I think occurred right before they went off for the HvV series.

I was fine with the outcome this year. DD is happier still -- she won her office Amazing Race pool last week .. and then won their Survivor pool this week!

Russell is one of the most delusional players of Survivor-I will give him that. I think that Jeff made it clear that Russell was not playing the game of Survivor but one that he made up in his head instead.

Russell is good TV with that love to hate thing going on, but he is not one of the best players and never will be unless he can see his mistakes. Yes, he can make it to the end, but isn't it more pathetic to be so close and yet never get the prize??

I thought it was funny how he bragged that he and Sandra were the only two time winners. I would think as a business man, the difference between 200 thousand and 2 million dollars would make it apparent as to who the real winner was.

When Sandra burned his hat-I said that payback is a itch with a b, Russell.:lmao:

Everyone knows his game now because he is to arrogant too change it. All the other players will play him as they see fit.

Here's hoping Mark Burnett takes Rob and Russell up on their offer to have a showdown!

If we thought this season was a huge ratings bonanza, imagine what it would be like watching the Rob vs. Russell season. They would each be able to hand pick their own tribe. Kind of like how Trump does his finale. The finalist pick who they want to work for them on the final task.

Yeah, something very strange about that. It doesn't look like green screen to me, but the 2 interviews things doesn't work for me either. He's talking about his strategy. He based his final three strategy on not winning last season. Thats not something you can just talk about two different ways in an interview.

During Russells interview on the rock where he mentions he didn't win last season, I believe you don't see his face when he said those particular words...I think they cut away, so it was probably edited in there, and then it cut back to him.

As for all the people who said "the jury SHOULD have voted for Russel". I wonder how YOU would vote after putting your heart and soul into the game and then getting screwed over by that little weaselly man? You just won't know until your in the game.

Given the nature of Survivor, you can't concoct a one on one matchup like this. It's not like setting up a golf match or a match race of thoroughbred horses.

Just because one player goes farther in the game doesn't mean that that person is a better player. As everyone but Russell (and his most starstruck fans) seem to realize, there has to be a significant amount of luck with things beyond a player's control, starting with who is on your tribe and how they do in challenges.

If you tried to set up a one on one matchup like this all of the attention would be focused on those two players, and when one gets voted off (which would probably happen very quickly) the whole premise would be out the window.

Because this season was relatively successful, and Russell was a significant part of that, I have little doubt that he will be invited back for another all star type show as long as Survivor itself can survive for a couple more years (and Russell can stay out of prison, unlike a previous villain). But, if he does come back, he will probably have a hard time finding allies.

They cut away from Russell on the rocks for some of what he said, but not all. But still, he claims to have based his final three strategy on the results of the previous season. Thats not something he can claim in two different versions of an interview, or even film after the Samoa final. At the time of the filming of the last few days of HvV (prior to Samoa finale), he knew he did not win Samoa.

Parvatti should have won.

Sandra is not the best ever, not even close.

When Rupert didn't win, they gave the fans a vote.

Apparently, the people who play the game (as opposed to us fans that just see what the producers want us to see) disagree.

No doubt the reason this season was so successful was the hate for Russell by the viewers. It was the ultimate entertailnment of good vs evil. So I do believe he was absolutely the factor that made it such good viewing. In my opinion though, I thought the right person won with her cleverness, but would not have been upset to see Parvati win either. I did not care for the bragging by Sandra at the end. Could have been a little less arrogant. Parvati did have a great big target on her back from the beginning, and is super sharp.

I think that came from listening to all of Russell's talk about how he is the best to have ever played Survivor. She just couldn't help rubbing it in his face. :lmao:

That's what I was thinking. Sandra and Parvati were doing that too but you could tell they were kidding with each other but not so much with Russell.

ROFLMAO- he won the money for being a LOSER not a winner! What a sore loser he is- his family must be VERY embarrassed watching him being such a moron and sore loser!

Funny, a few years ago everyone was ecstatic when another loser won the fan vote.
