It is because he plays the GAME of survivor better than anyone else.

Sandra is like a piece of furniture. She just sits there and makes it to the end without "offending" anyone and she wins.

Russell's loyal fans have the same misguided idea of what makes a good Survivor player that Russell does. To play the game successfully you have to maintain the respect of at least some of the people you are playing with. Russell can't do that.

He does NOT play the game better than anyone else. The purpose of the game is to get to the finals and STILL have people vote for you. He played great to GET to the finals- but horribly in the end because he didnt' get a SINGLE vote. His whole "game" was being a bully. He excelled at bullying, but in the end, it doesn't pay.

I think the flaw
in the game has become
that the jury is still bitter when they vote, so they vote for the person who had nothing to do
with ousting them---which generally is just a floater player that mAkes it to
the end. I don't think Sandra won bc she was Sandra, but bc she wasn't russell or parvati, and I think whichever player was LUCKY enough to be taken to the finals by those two would have won. Nothing about Sandras game play ensured she would make finals--could have just as easily been Jerri and then she would have won.

I think Parvati deserved to win, honestly.

BTW, nobody has commented on Jeff's slip up during the show that revealed a little early that the final vote was going to be 6-3 in somebody's favor. When the announced vote was 3-3 he said "2 votes left". He quickly tried to cover it up, but it was obvious that he knew that he was only going to be READING 2 more votes before declaring a winner.

We pretty much knew that already because of the votes they revealed during the tribal council, but Jeff's slip cemented it. We also knew that Russell wasn't going to be getting any votes because, if he had, they would have shown it during the voting.

I noticed that too I told DH ohhh Sandra got it! and even Parvarti knew it.

Part of the GAME of Survivor is getting votes from the jury. Russell still doesn't seem to understand that getting the votes is a BIG part of Survivor. It's not like DWTS where people call in and decide the winner.

I thought the best moments of the night were when Pavarti said she kept Russell around as a "pet" and Sandra burned his hat. Tom was classy again when he said whoever gets the jury's vote is the real Survivor.

Russell will never win Survivor because he is too hard headed to realize that you alienate everyone when you strut like a peacock! Good riddance to Russell!

Tom has class, and not egocentric people doesn't understand that.

Humiliating and bulling doesn't make you a winner of Survivor, Russell got rid of all the man because he can only go with women, he thinks he can bully them and manipulate them as we wants, he has no respect for women.

Like someone said Russell can play the game 1000 times and we will never win. Not they way he is.

Its funny, after he got rid of all the guys he went and dug up the machete and said that now that all the guys were gone he could show the girls that he was in charge and cut the coconuts. Seriously?

I think the only reason Parvarti didn't get any votes from heroes was because they saw her and Russell like one. They said on the last TC that they took care of each other, well she said it. And Sandra made it very clear on last TC's that she was against him, she was reading the Jury all the time, and she kept quiet when she need it to be quiet, not like Danielle.
Russell wanted to be the only one in charge, he told jerri right there on TC to vote for Danielle and she had to otherwise Russell would have gone after her. He went crazy because of sandra's idol, he said it was dumb and worthless, well he did the same thing, he thought he was in trouble so he used it, he didn't tell Sandra, but its OK when is him, because he wanted to be the only one with the moves, he wanted to dictate the moves.

Pretty much as I expected - 0 votes for Russell.

As for the fan vote, means zip. We see about 1% of what goes on out there, and that's what the producers want us to see. Russell has been the star of the show for the past 2 seasons, and as Rob said, he's good at getting to the end, but won't ever win.

At the end both Parvarti and Sandra knew that they need it him in the final
When Russell kept asking Parvarti if she was in the Jury who she would vote for and she kept saying Sandra, over and over, he got all angry elf.

Not anti Pearl Islands. I liked Rupert until this season and he became holier than thou. As for Sandra, I never thought she was a good player. If she was, she would have been in the all-stars edition.

The game of Survivor (of which the home audience sees VERY little of what goes on day to day) is about BOTH getting to the end, AND garnering jury votes. If you get voted off early, doesn't matter how many people would have voted you to win. If you make it to the end and made so many enemies that nobody would give you the time of day much less a million bucks, it still doesn't matter.

To WIN survivor, you need to do both. Doesn't matter how good you are at only one of those things unless you can do BOTH.

This is why Russel isn't the best player. Sandra managed to do it twice. She may very well be the best player. I don't particularly care for her. She was definitely the lesser of three evils for me. But she got the job done TWICE.

I would definitely concede that Russel is a very good strategist and for sure the most FUN to watch.

Even though I didn't really like any of them, I am glad that Sandra won.

I was wondering if they were going to show the first Survivor baby. And I think Jeff was right, this was probably the best season ever. I feel like next season is going to be a disappointment. As my sister said now we have to actually try to remember all new names.

I don't usually post on this thread but I read it all the time. My friends goof on me because I won't do anything on Thursday night, and don't even call my phone after 8, I won't be answering.

I'm not a Russell fan, I personally can't stand him and have no respect for him. I often wonder if his wife allows their kids to watch the show and see how he acts....but, whatever.

Russell made the stupidest tactical error ever by taking Sandra to the final three. I knew that if she made it in there with him, it was over. She DID try to warn the heros, and she would have changed the game if anyone had woke up and paid any attention to her. On a jury of 9, 5 were hero's that Sandra told that Russell was a snake, I knew she'd get their votes. I've always admired Sandra's game, and IMO she played it well and deserved to win as much as anyone.

IMO, Russell ( if he ever got asked ) would never make it past go in another All Stars type game. His saving grace this time was he was unknown and no one had seen his play before. Now, the gig is up, and he'll have a huge red X on his back on day 1.

Fair enough but Rob was giving Russell game advice and Rob's game stinks compared to Russell. Russell single handedly eliminated Rob this year. And that is a fact!

Yeah, but remember Russell EASILY could have been out early on in this season if Tyson hadn't decided to switch his vote last second! Rob had everything all figured out to get Russell eliminated. There was that bit of luck that both Tom and Colby were talking about in the reunion right there!

The Russell hate is very small considering the fact that Russell has won America for 2 seasons in a row now. The majority of America loves the man!!

Ultimatlely, I was unable to truly enjoy the season (one because russel was on it), but also because that stupid PM'd spoiler byt the jerk who sent them all out to us just ruined the whole thing.

I just tune in They showed them signing autographs outside. Sandra, Pavarti and Russell. She is to be in Live with Regis and Kelly too.
