As many of you know, my father was diagnosed with colon cancer several months ago. After a very long surgery and weeks of rehabilitation, he is able to have his dream: to go to WDW again. It was the first thing he asked the surgeon before the surgery and we made sure to book it as soon as he was able to travel again. They leave tomorrow and are oh so excited. A week after they come home, the doctors will determine if chemo is necessary.

Dad has a scooter from Randy's Mobility ready for him tomorrow morning when him and Mom arrive. My mother also wrote a letter to Wilderness Lodge letting them know this is a celebratory "I'm Beating Cancer" trip. I'm not sure if they'll receive it or even read it, but it made her feel better to do so.

Please think good thoughts over the course of the next week. I'm hoping for a little pixie dust to ensure a fun and worry-free trip for them both after all they have been through. :wizard:

I hope your parents have an awesome trip. I hope your mom and dad have an awesome trip and that your dad has continued good news in the future. My step dad lost his battle with brain cancer 9 months ago now. It was a hard time for our family. I'm sending your family pixie dust for a wonderful trip and good news from the doctors when he returns. :wizard:

Glad to hear your Dad is getting to go on this trip. What a great way to celebrate. My sister is planning a trip for her family for the same reason. Not sure when they are going yet though. Hoping for good news when they get back.

Congrats to your dad on doing so well Nikki - my dad beat his colon cancer 33 years ago and is still going strong! I hope they have a great week and trip.

Here's Wishing Nikki's parents a wonderful trip to WDW.

Keep up the fight!!!

Sure, make me almost cry first thing in the morning. I'm so happy and jealous that you're taking this trip. Cherish every moment, and hopefully you'll be having so much fun that you forget, even for a moment, of all your worries, and that those memories will last forever.

It was my wife's dream to take my kids to WDW, but cancer took her away from us first. One of the last things she said to me was "Don't take the kids to the cemetery to visit me, take them to WDW, because that's where I'm going."

All your parents need to do is to follow in your footsteps and they will have a great trip.
I wish good health and safe travels.

Congratulations to all of you guys!! That's so great for your dad :) My mom and I are going on her 6 year cancer-free anniversary trip in a few months--Disney must be good luck for that :thumbsup2

Here's wishing you and your family the absolute best trip and the best of health.

Congratulations!!!!:goodvibes:cool1:

Thanks everyone! They are on their way to the airport now! Dad is even wearing a lanyard with his annual pass and ID (never did that before lol). He couldn't get in the car fast enough! :)

Congratulations to your dad on his recovery, Nikki. That's great news. Hope they have a magic filled trip.

Congrats to your Dad on his recovery. I hope their trip is filled with lots of fun, laughs and some extra pixie dust. :wizard: :goodvibes

 Go Dad Go!

What a wonderful reason to visit the Mouse!
I am so glad to read that they were able to go on this trip.
I am sure they have already arrived and scooter-ing around the parks by now.

I wish them the best vacation ever- and all good news when they return. :thumbsup2

That's awesome! I hope they both have a wonderful time!! And all the best to you and your family.

KIM

They are in Orlando! So far Wilderness Lodge has been fabulous to them. Their room was ready upon their arrival and they even sent up a big box of chocolates. Tonight they're eating at Whispering Canyon. I hope they get a big mug. ;)

I am glad they are having a great time. I loved Whispering Canyon.

I'm so happy they are able to go on this trip! I totally get it. I am coming up on my first anniversary of surviving breast cancer. I went to Disney for a couple of days in between chemo treatments while my DH was at Lotusphere, and we are planning a big Disney trip over the holidays with the whole family. Sometimes, a little Disney magic makes all the difference during the dark times.

This is awesome to hear Nikki!

DAP 2009 was suppose to be my mom's 1st trip , but I lost her last August before I could even add her to the itinerary. So it's bittersweet to read this thread. I'm so happy he is able to go!

I hope your dad has a very successful outcome when he comes home. I will keep him & your family in my prayers. Disney is definitely a place to forget about all your troubles & woes.
