Surprisingly Nice

Well, CM's have done lots of nice things for us..but one OUTSTANDING kind moment from another park guest was at DHS Animation Studio class. There were no seats left and one really kind woman gave up her seat for my daughter. After the class, I went to thank her personally, and it choked me up. It had meant soo much to my daughter who *loves* drawing! I'll never forget her kindness.:)

While we were at MMCP on 12/16 watching Mickey's twas the Night Before Christmas show, my 3 yr old son became ill with a stomach virus. My wife decided to take him back to our room at OKW with another person in our party so the rest of the kids could stay at the park for the remainder of the night. By the time my wife got to the bus area he had gotten sick 2 more times. By this time she thought he would get sick again if she took him out of the stroller to fold it up for the bus ride so she approached an attendant at the bus pickup area and asked if she could leave him in the stroller on the bus. The man instructed her to wait and in 5 minutes a van arrived to transport them to OKW with him still in the stroller. To top it off, when they arrived at OKW the driver realized our room was on the second floor with no elevator and helped carry the stroller with him in it to the door! That is great customer service above any I have ever seen!

There were lots of little things that other did to make our recent trip special...

A stranger who kept offering to help my husband with our stroller on the bus (we had 2 sleeping girls + the stroller we were carrying), a lady who gave up her seat (well, her 1/2 a seat) on the bus for my 19 mo old, the guest who did not freak out when my 19 mos old tossed her sippy cup and splashed her with water (thankfully it was only water), a CM who gave my birthday girl a free pin (and he happened to have a Figment pin--her new fave), but our best moment of the entire trip was so simple...

A CM working the gift store in Morocco noticed our 19 mo old trying to keep the beat of the music on her knees, so he gave her a drum to borrow. She got all shy on him, so he got down to her level and coaxed her out of the stroller to try on a jingly little scarf (worn as a skirt/sarong) and a beaded headdress. Then he dressed up our 5 year old too and put on some belly dancing type music. They had sooo much fun. A couple of other kids joined them too. At that moment I had so wished he had brought our camcorder. Anyway, it was simple and fun and nearly makes me cry to think about it even now. (He almost made a sale too--my hubby really wanted to buy those outfits but I said NO when I saw the prices :goodvibes ).

I am sure there are more, but these are what came to mind right away.

OMG, these stories are giving me warm fuzzies!! I have one....I was in line for FOLK at AK one day, we were with my dh who was just getting ready to go in for knee surgery so he was in a wheelchair, and I was pushing. Never again by the way LOL, we were in the HC line, and these VERY nice ladies behind us were giving out stickers...They weren't in a scooter or wc, so I didn't think much of it, well, we were seated by these nasty people on scooters who were complaining to a CM that those ladies were in the HC line without a wc or ECV, and the CM went over to the 2 ladies, and then came back, and explained to the people in the ECV that one of the ladies just came back from IRAQ, and was a wounded soldier, but it was a hip wound, and was too proud to be in a wc, but they did have a Guest Assistance Card, which allowed them to be in the HC line. My dh turned around to the grouchy old people and said something to them, and they got real quiet, DH is in the miltary himself, and got so choked up over the kindness of those ladies, who were gawking over him and ds, giving stickers, and didn't complain ONCE of the wounds the one had...it was a heartbreaking experience!! I"m sure I'll think of more later! :)

I was sitting with my 5 year old niece outside of the Dinosaur ride waiting for our party to ride. Also waiting was a grandma and a little boy, 1-1.5 yrs. old, strapped in his stroller. It was probably 11am and HOT and it was the end of July. He was sweating, fussing, and crying and the Grandma told me she couldn't take him out because he would run and she couldn't keep up. So I took my mister fan and held it up for him and sprayed him and he just LOVED it! It kept him calm and entertained for about 30 minutes until their party came back from riding. The parents didn't bother to thank me, but I know that little boy was grateful! ;)

OMG yes, we've had many nice things happen at Disney, one of the reasons I love going down there so much. More things than I will recount here but here's a few:

My DD (8) can make friends with a rock, she's a very outgoing girl. She struck up a conversation with a girl on a bus from DTD to BWI, then we all got to talking, her family and ours, and the Mom pulled a new bag of candy out of one of her shopping bags and handed it out to my kids (after asking my permission).

When standing in line to board the tram after the evening fireworks at MK(and we all know how long those lines get) DD and I got split up from DS and DH, they ended up at the front of the line but we got on the tram. I called over to DH that we'd meet them at the car when a couple got off the tram and gave DH and DS their seats saying a family shouldn't be split up. I felt kinda bad but they insisted. Isn't that amazing?

I've been meaning to post about this but we had a very magical afternoon at the ASMusic pool just a couple of weeks ago. DD had begged to go swimming even though I thought it was too cold and we were going to the Christmas Party later that evening. Again she makes a buddy out of another little girl and then a CM recruited them to play a music trivia game, along with a couple of other groups. One of these groups were 3 young adults, like early 20's I would guess. I was sitting on a chaise a bit away as they started the game when a woman came up and asked me if I'd like a pizza. Uh, ok, sure. There were cheerleading groups there that weekend and she was dressed like she belonged with one of them. She said they'd just had a pizza party and had about 10 pizzas left, disappeared for a moment and then came back with a large pepperoni pizza. If you are a DIS'er - thanks again! I watched several people walk by the pool with pizzas after that :)

Then the sweetest thing happened, a few more groups formed to play the game and I went over to help the two little girls, then the other girl's Mom showed too. Our group and the 3 young adults ended up in a tie at the end and had to do a tie breaker. Well, they won and I bent down to my DD whispering "be a good sport and congratulate them". She went toward them to do that when one of the guys presented her with the prize, the Magic Kingdom game, and said "we were just playing for fun" and gave it to her. Wasn't expecting that and I thought it was so sweet. Then my DD and the other girl are trying to figure out how to split that game and I whispered into DD's ear to let the other child have it, we could get one another time. She did and they hugged each other like lifelong friends :) Other Mom invited us to come over to play it the next day (I'd mentioned we had to run now to get ready for the party) but we were leaving the next day. Good thing we had that pizza because we had to scurry to get to the party so all in all, a wonderful experience. So if the others we played with that day are DIS'ers too :goodvibes

Seriously, we have good stuff like that happen all the time. You are just more likely to hear the complaints I guess.

DH reminded me of something a CM did that made him feel really happy!

DH is younger than me... so it would have meant more to me and I am not sure why he was so excited...:lmao:

I asked him today where he would recommend someone with a large family go for CS meal. He said Cosmic Ray's if your kids are old enough to get their own meal ~ but if not then Toy Story Pizza at DHS ~ which reminded me of this story and why he likes it!

After he ordered he was still standing talking to the cashier (it was totally NOT busy as it was so early) and she asked him which college he was here on spring break from! :rotfl2: It totally made his day. Which makes me :rotfl: because he was only 26 at the time... :) Now me being 35 would have been stoked!

Suellen, that is a nice post. I am glad to hear that you had a good experience with teenagers. Not all of them are bad. :)

When DH and I were there on our honeymoon and wearing the bride and groom ears so many people were nice to us. My favorite was waiting for our table at Chef Mickey's when a little serious boy approached my husband and said something about getting married and "Congratulations" and shook his hand. His dad was smiling while he watched... I'm sure he set him up. It was very sweet, though.

This is such a timely thread! I don't post often, but we just returned today from a quick one day trip to the MK (tacked onto the tail end of our beach vacation). We had a wonderful day, despite the crowds, and we had planned on watching the 10:00 pm SpectroMagic Parade to round out our day. While making our way over to Adventureland we noticed that the crowds for the 8:00 parade weren't that bad in Frontierland. There was some space available right across the way from the Diamond Horseshoe so my husband and I make the executive decision that we would park the stroller (we have two daughters, 3 and 5) and stay and watch the 8:00 parade. This was probably around 7:45. We explained to our children that they could not crowd the people who had been waiting as we had just decided to stop and watch, but that if they could not see, we would try our best to hold them up. Anyway, this lovely woman and her husband sitting on the ground in front of us heard us explain this to our girls. She waved me over and told me that she had heard me talking to my children and was so glad to hear what I had to say so she invited them to sit next to them once the parade started. Sure enough, once the parade started the girls sat down next to her and started to fill her in on their day and how much they love WDW. Turns out, she and her husband are veterans of 30 trips and have a new grandson who they can't wait to bring with them to WDW. She was so wonderful with my girls and made the experience magical for all of us. So if any of you out there are from Massacheusets and remember the two little girls whose night you made, THANK YOU!

I like this thread. The following is rather minor compared to many of the others.

Our daughter was getting started with pin collection and had purchased a few at the MK which were fastened to her lanyard. In examining her collection shortly thereafter, she discovered that one was missing. We backtracked and couldn’t find it and there was emotion.

In a last ditch effort, we decided to see if anyone had turned it in to the lost and found. This would seem very unlikely and the logic on this decision is more than a little suspect. In explaining the situation to the cast member, she immediately filled a coupon for a new pin at the store. It made our daughter very happy.

We were on the verge of going back and purchasing another and then this happened and was the source of some memorable MK magic.

I love all your stories and it makes me very much look forward to our next trip and ideas for things to look out for that we cand do to make someones day!

:)

I love hearing all the warm fuzzy stories! I'm getting all choked up.:goodvibes

On our honeymoon, my dh lost his license at Ghiradelli's...and didn't notice it until the next day. I was terrified they wouldn't let him on the plane and I'm a total wuss about flying! He called lost and found...and wouldn't you know it..someone found it and turned it in..saving us some headaches I'm sure.

On our last trip in June, on our last day in the parks, we were at Star Wars Weekends at DHS. I went to get fp's for TSMM. They had a CM helping because alot of people seemed to be having some technical difficulties...or the machine was. Anyway, he took my KTTW cards and slid them in, then handed me a bunch of fp's. We needed 6, but when I looked at them, we had 11! Knowing we wouldn't go through it twice, my 13 y.o. ds and I looked around for a group of 5 to give them to. We spotted one outside of One Man's Dream and my ds gave them to the family. The father looked confused..but they were just on their way to the now monstrous fp line, and they were thrilled to not have to wait. In the meantime, a very nice CM saw that I was trying to keep my 3 & 4 y.o.'s entertained, so he pin traded with my dd and my 7 year old ds. We also had an AK cm pin trade with my dd right past the turnstiles and take her time and not rush her (probably to the irritation of the guests behind us).

Oh...I also forgot...lol.

We celebrated birthdays for my 13 y.o. and dh while we were there in June. I'd ordered cakes for both of them. Since stayed at POP..we had no refrigerator, and we weren't going back to the resort after the meal. So at 1900 Park Fare, we shared probably half the cake with the tables around us. I didn't want to waste it...and everyone enjoyed it. At the Yacht and Beach club, we had a cake for dh, and this table full of lovely older women joined in singing for dh. So we gave them the other half of that cake to share, as well. :goodvibes

Oh I have several.
We took my oldest DD when she was four. Well she had been scared of characters when she was younger but swore she wasn't afraid anymore. Sure..till we got to the parade and saw one. So she was crying and when she is like that there is nothing you can do for her. She didn't want to be held or anything. So we got an ice cream and sat at a table. She went to hid on a little porch. There was no one else around and no way off so I was just sitting with my family eating my ice cream. Suddenly I realize that my DD has stopped crying and is talking to someone! How? I was at the entrance/exit. Well it was a CM from the ice cream place. He was sitting on the floor talking to her. He told her she could pick any pin from his lanyard if she would stop crying. Then he assured her that he was super good friends with all the characters and they were super nice people.

Later in that same trip we went to Chef Mickey's. I didn't realize that the Goofey was already walking around. Tears started again but shorter this time. The CM came over to take our drink order and we told her the problem. She instructed my DD that there was secret wave that all the charcters know. That wave tells them not to come too close. Well my child waved her little hand off that night and for the rest of the trip. She just knew her secret wave was the way to say Hi but don't come over here to all of her character friends. I always regret not getting that CM's name and letting her know later how much she saved our trip.

I love this thread. Sometimes people get so caught up in the negative stuff that is going on around them that they forget about the positive. So I love all of the little reminders on here.

My DFi is always putting his wallet on top of stuff and forgetting about it. one night during our May 2008 trip, we decided to go to the arcade at the POR. As he was paying for our games, he placed his wallet on top of the machine and forgot about it. When he discovered that it was gone some thirty minutes later, we backtracked and looked around every single game in the arcade! We couldn't find it anywhere. We went to the front desk to see if anyone had turned it in, and someone had! All of his cash and credit cards were still in there. It was so awesome. :)

Now I am going to brag about my Dfi for a little bit. Besides being very forgetful ;) , he is one of the few gentlemen left on Earth. He always oens the door for people. And if we are on the bus and there aren't any seats left, he will always offer his seat to any woman standing. That is one of the things about him that got my attention. :goodvibes
