I am surprising my family with our first trip to Disney. I would like to rent a camper and stay close to the marina well I think I would like to stay close to the marina I am a big fisherman but am looking for advice. We would like to arrive on 12-15-2012 and we would like to leave on 12-30-2011. We have 2 adults and 2 girls ages 9 & 8. We will also be going to Universal, SeaWorld, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions and is there anyone that rents a camper that we can book with that we also can make the reservation at the Fort. I really have no idea what kind of Disney tickets to purchase since we will be going to the other parks. I appreciate any feedback it’s a lot to take in. I am flexible on the leaving date but at least would want to stay the day after Christmas. I hope I can pull this surprise off.

Darryl,

I would suggest you contact Tina at http://www.campatthefort.com.

Besides have trailers to rent that they set up and take down, she is also a travel agent (I think) who can also make the Fort ressie and advise on tickets.

I have friends who are renting one of her trailers and other folks have used her with good results. Christmas may sound far away but it's a popular time.

Your kids sound like they are the perfect age to experience the Fort. It's a great place for kids.

Don't wait if you want to be at the Fort over Christmas.
It fills up really fast and you may have to do some creative booking to get what you want.

Welcome to the camping board.

Tina isn't a travel agent. As far as tickets I like this site for planning.

Book ASAP it will fill up fast. There is also Universal and Sea World board on The Dis.

Denise,

According to the Home page on her website that I had listed above, Tina is a TA (paragraph 4) so the OP can get one-stop shopping from her.

Sorry I've been out of pocket for several days with little access to the DIS but I wanted to provide clarification.

Thanks,

I learned something new today.

Have u decided to do the dining plan? If u are, I would suggest the park hopper. Sometimes it can be hard to get reservations at the park u r in, especially at christmas time. If u r not gettong the dining plan, a base ticket should work just fine. Also, if its your first famil y trip, there will be a ton of things that you and your kifs will want to see, so a hopper might be a waste of money because you will find you are not leaving one park for another as there is too much to see and do in each one. Good luck and you will have a blasy no matter what you choose!:

PLEASE NOTE: this is just my opinion.

I see that you are planning to be at Disney for about 15 days. While this is a nice chunk of time, I would be careful and not plan too many activities.

Info: once you get past about five days of a Disney ticket, the price of additional days costs very little. So, unless your girls are really excited about Universal, I wouldn't go. I think your family is going to want some down time, relaxing and swimming, and, trust me, napping. Many families who go to Disney often, hit the parks at opening (the better to get on rides), head back to their room/campers by noon to nap, swim, relax. Head back to the parks later in the afternoon.

We don't get to Disney every year like some folks on this board, so when we go, we like to go for about 15 days, too. We usually plan for two or three days of NOT going to the parks. We sleep in and hit a restaurant we'd like to try, take in a movie, or rent a golf cart for the day. We find that if we don't do this, we get cranky, and cranky and Disney just don't mix.

And, I agree with others who have posted, get your reservations now, or you might find there is no room at the inn.
