Surprising Little Miss -March '16 {NEW Update: 10/10} Quick Life Update 10/29

Then once everyone was better I ended up spraining my ankle {No idea HOW it happened. Though the Doc did end up telling me "These things just happen when you get old.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(I'm only 30 :rolleyes2)} while stubbornly pushing forward with plans for Little Miss's bday (frozen themed it was cute, I'll try to ), then the sprained ankle decided that Achilles Tendonitis wanted to join the party. Enter this thing:
I feel your pain. Literally. I ruptured my Achilles when I was 26. Ironically, my doctor told me then that I'm too old to be playing basketball.

Really? I mean they're usually saying you need to get more exercise, not start sitting on your butt once you hit 25 or something.

Oh well, anyway, I've got a boot like that, but mine's black. It sucks. I wore it from around February to June, so I missed out on the fun of wearing it through the hottest part of summer.

Help me Catch up! 40 points for catching me up on what I missed and leaving a summary and a link to any TR of yours that I was following.
Um... well, you've been to my TR so you already know you didn't miss much. Just some baby updates and a new TR update finally after 4 months.

Alright, let me know what works and what didn't and you'll get an easy 10 points. There are a potential 50 points up for grabs here.
I saw the boot, and an image that showed up as an X below that.

I think I may have just made it work.... Did it work? It shows up for me. :scratchin
::yes::

Yeah the sprain is actually a re sprain of a n old injury. The original time I wore the boot was about that same time frame. It's definitely more.... "fun" in the summer! :crazy2::rotfl:

I need to go back and find the baby updates. Hope everything is going well on that front.

:cheer2:

Finishing up the comments from the last post.... though I could have sworn I'd done this already! :confused3

I'm glad your trip down was nice and smooth! I can't see the videos at work, but during the first reveal at the rest stop was she surprised or it kinda didn't hit her yet?
I like the surprise at Pop Century though! Very cute!
You room looked cute too! Did little miss wear her new dress to Disney Springs?
That dress is actually a nightgown and yes it's her absolute favorite one.

Hmm, I think you went to Earl of Sandwich for lunch. I think your DH forgot...his favorite Star Wars t-shirt? :rotfl:
Which you will ultimately replace with another one. hehe.
:scratchin

Im going with earl of sandwich as well!
:scratchin

Such a cute surprise! She seems really happy in the pics (at work so can't watch the video but assuming more smiles!)

First pop bus experience looks good!!
:thumbsup2 She was over the moon!

Glad to see you made it to Pop and were able to (eventually) find your room. Love that Little Miss thought her gifts were "nice." :rotfl:
:rolleyes2 Kids! Though really that nightgown is her absolute favorite!

Yay for getting a quick Disney Springs bus too!
:D

Been following along, lurking, really. I'm so glad DD was happy with the room; she's adorable.

Can't wait to see how the rest of the trip goes.
:wave2: Thanks for reading along!

Adorable! Thanks for sharing
:thanks:

Great read. I've enjoyed sharing your Disney experience with your family!
:thanks:

Joining in!! Are you in GA? I noticed you mentioned Macon and Valdosta... those were my landmarks when we were driving down. We're in Buford, about 30ish miles north of Atlanta.
I'm familiar with the area! :thumbsup2 If you want specific then we'll have to pm.

I started reading your last TR, and then time just got away from me. So I'm looking forward to catching this one, sort of from the beginning!
Welcome! Thanks for reading!

I'm guessing you went to Earl of Sandwich for lunch. Hmm... what did DH forget... a bathing suit, and you DO get a replacement!
:scratchin

Bus wait times: 33 minutes
:scratchin

I'm not the OP but I'm in GA! Snellville area...
:thumbsup2

Must you use that expression? :headache:
::yes::
Your welcome! :D:P

You forgot your what?!? (Day 1 Part 3 3/17/16)

Before I fell off the face of the disboards we last left off with our arrival at Pop Century and our pool preferred room. After getting things settled we had decided to hit up Disney Springs for lunch.

After a quick bus ride that just thrilled Little Miss {Oh to be young and so easy to please… :rotfl2:} we started walking to the destination of choice for lunch. As we were walking Little Miss was whining a bit about wanting to swim in the pool. I was consoling her promising her that after lunch she and Daddy would go back to the room and take a small nap and then maybe Daddy would take her swimming.

DH chimed in at this point with a “Wait, what?” I then explained to him the plan to have him take her swimming while I was at my own special Mommy time. His reaction, “oh. Oops.”

Turns out in DH’s brilliant :rolleyes2 packing job {ie.. last minute and thrown together} he forgot to pack a swimsuit. :headache: I was a bit put out about this because I was hoping to avoid having to swim this trip. While yes, the pools are heated and yes it was pretty nice outside it certainly wasn’t hot enough for me to feel comfortable swimming. And unless we found a suit for DH it meant that I was getting in. (I had already promised Little Miss that she could swim at some point on this trip.)

It was decided that since we were at Disney Springs we would see what (if anything) we could find to fit DH. Of course, this was also dependent on whatever we found to be a reasonable price.

That decided we kept on our way to Wolfgang Puck Express. We knew that with us on the dining plan that this would end up being the best use of our credit.

20160317_125705_zps6usjzidw.jpg

I had trouble deciding between two of the pizzas and ended up following the cashier’s recommendation of the Pepperoni pizza. DH went with the Meatloaf and Little Miss chose the kids Mac and Cheese. For the desserts, DH and I both chose the Strawberry cheesecake, & Little Miss went with a prepackaged brownie. I had gone in thinking about ordering the crème Brule since I’d heard so much about it but I didn’t see it on the menu.

20160317_130237_zpstip05chy.jpg

20160317_130351_zpsqusjs9sh.jpg

Our meal was good, not great and I ended up regretting not going with my gut and trying the goat cheese pesto pizza that I was considering. The pepperoni pizza was pretty standard and there was absolutely nothing special about it. DH said his meatloaf was good but nothing special about it either. I tried to warn him against getting it because he wasn’t a huge fan of it last time and after a few bites, he mentioned that he wish he had listened and gone with something else. Little Miss’s brownie was everything you can expect from a prepackaged brownie, she only ended up eating half of it and DH and I didn’t feel it was tasty enough to deal with the hassle of bringing the rest with us.

20160317_125924_zps3wmx1oms.jpg

In the end, had we paid out of pocket we would have paid: $63.80 for our meal. To make the dining plan worthwhile we would have to spend at minimum $16.18 per adult meal credit used and $6.98 per child credit used. So while we can say that we got our money’s worth out of these credits neither DH or I felt that this was a great value. A meal at Wolfgang takes a lot longer than it does in some of the other places and we ended up filling ourselves up on standard cheesecake and large mediocre meals when had we not had the dining plan we would have been happy grabbing sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich and either a custom crispy treat from Goofy’s or a Sundae from Ghirardelli’s. Which using All Ears Menus comes out to $26.03 for what we would have ordered at Earl of Sandwich and $11.45. Totaling that out we would have only spent $37.48 and been happier with our meal. 1 meal down and DH and I were not impressed with the dining plan.

After our meal, we decided to look around a little and possibly see about finding DH a swimsuit while we were at it. We browsed in Once Upon A Toy for a bit and DH and Little Miss had fun having sword fights and playing with the star wars toys.

As we left Little Miss found the Buzz Figurine and had to go see it and give it a hug.

We browsed around in the co-op for a bit while I drooled over the Dooney and burke purses and DH suffered from Sticker Shock just looking at the prices. :rotfl:

20160317_135128_zpsfz32a8sj.jpg

We crossed through there passed the guest relations into the glass shop and came across an artist working with glass. We stood around and watched as he made a turtle.

Leaving there we headed toward World of Disney thinking that if we were lucky we may just find DH a swimsuit there. Before we made it in Little Miss saw the Princess Figures outside and just HAD to go see them.

We walked through the store a bit and after not finding anything asked a cm who suggested that we could go down to Westside and try the CURL store but that was the only place that may be able to help us. As we were leaving Little Miss showed her true colors as a Diser in training and excitedly told us to look up. She had big fun looking at the ceilings and I have to say that it made this mama proud!

As we left the World of Disney It was about time for me to separate and head on my way. I gave DH the option of going down to Curl with Little Miss by himself but he decided that the need for nap time was upon them and they would head out as well.

Just as we approached the bus depot to figure out where I needed to go we saw a Pop bus pull out. Bummed that they missed it, DH and Little Miss went on to the queue for Pop and I went on to the LONG overflowing queue for my stop.

I am aware that there are a few disers here that live in the same general area that I do. For those people I thought I would pass along a tip... The Disney store at one of the malls in the Atlanta area has been renovating and to celebrate its Grand ReOpening Mickey and Minnie will be doing a meet and greet on the 29th.

http://www.ajc.com/news/local/bring...mall-georgia-saturday/XahsXZjWfuAMuhBY9MKWzO/

You can bet that you will see us there on the 29th. If you go and see us please introduce yourselves! Can't wait to surprise little miss with this special treat!

Um... so it looks like swimming might be in your future? Honestly, I'm kind of surprised swim trunks would be something you'd have to go to one particular place at Disney Springs to find. You'd think they'd be selling those things everywhere since it is something people might forget to pack and you're in frickin' Florida.

I'm sorry WPE didn't quite measure up. I actually like the food that I've had there, although I couldn't tell you what it was, it's been so long. But I felt like it was a really good value. But what you said about the dining plan is the absolute truth. It really comes down to how you plan to use it whether it can be worthwhile or not.

1. Whose Bus Arrives first? Mine or DHs or both at the same time?
Yours

2. Where is my bus taking me?
Grand Flo

3. What am I going to do once I’m there?
Spa Day

I'm pretty sure you dropped some hints on what you're doing, but it has been too long and I'm too lazy to look back so I'll just go with an obvious guess.

::yes:: Your welcome! :D:P

You can darned well bet that I didn't play that video!!

Before I fell off the face of the disboards

 I must be tired. I read that as "Before I fell on my face."

After a quick bus ride that just thrilled Little Miss {Oh to be young and so easy to please… :rotfl2:}

I remember taking my DDs for their first bus ride (to the mall.) Talk about thrilled.

As we were walking Little Miss was whining a bit about wanting to swim in the pool.

Pools are like magnets to kids.

Turns out in DH’s brilliant :rolleyes2 packing job {ie.. last minute and thrown together} he forgot to pack a swimsuit.

I'm sure you didn't rub it in that he didn't make a packing list.

It was decided that since we were at Disney Springs we would see what (if anything) we could find to fit DH. Of course, this was also dependent on whatever we found to be a reasonable price.

Please tell me you found him a nice Daisy Duck or Minnie Mouse bathing suit!

Little Miss chose the kids Mac and Cheese

I'm totally shocked! A young child... choosing Mac and Cheese???? :faint:

Our first trip, DD4 subsisted on Mac and Cheese... only.

I had gone in thinking about ordering the crème Brule since I’d heard so much about it but I didn’t see it on the menu.

Rats. Love crème brulé.

That's not Mac and Cheese! That's rigatoni and cheese!

Our meal was good, not great and I ended up regretting not going with my gut and trying the goat cheese pesto pizza that I was considering. The pepperoni pizza was pretty standard and there was absolutely nothing special about it.

Too bad. I never order pepperoni and cheese. Usually the pepperoni is sub-standard and if it isn't... it's boring.

1 meal down and DH and I were not impressed with the dining plan.

Disappointing. Hope things (meals) start looking up for you guys.

After our meal, we decided to look around a little and possibly see about finding DH a swimsuit while we were at it. We browsed in Once Upon A Toy for a bit

Sure. Because where else would you look for a bathing suit?

DH and Little Miss had fun having sword fights and playing with the star wars toys.

Okay that's a super cute photo.

We browsed around in the co-op for a bit while I drooled over the Dooney and burke purses and DH suffered from Sticker Shock just looking at the prices. :rotfl:

:lmao: But if he's anything like me, he's okay with spending big bucks on toys.

We crossed through there passed the guest relations into the glass shop and came across an artist working with glass. We stood around and watched as he made a turtle.

Love glass and watching glass makers. Wish I could do that.

Awwww....

Whose Bus Arrives first? Mine or DHs or both at the same time?

Why do I think this is a trick question?
As in "Well, they just missed theirs, so yours comes first."
My gut tells me "Both at same time" but I'll go with the odds and say theirs comes first.

2. Where is my bus taking me?

GF

3. What am I going to do once I’m there?

Spa. More specifically probably a mani pedi.

Pkondz : 75pts; WPE, No, Catch Up, Photo help, flattery point, get your butt back to the disboards points, reminding me how to use Gifs point

Woot!

Looks like a fun afternoon at DS, though not very fruitful in the bathing suit dept. I really pushed the dining plan for this past trip because I liked the idea of having it all paid ahead of time, however, I'm passing next trip because it just was too much food and not conducive to the way I like to eat (I'm a grazer by nature).

We did not spend enough time at DS last trip so I am hoping to remedy that somewhat June 2017. I am (sort of) taking a page from your book and we are going to leave Atlanta about 6am Saturday 6/3. Hoping to arrive at WDW by 3, which gives us a little cushion, then have a resort/swim/DS afternoon/evening. Bed semi early to get ready for RD at MK on Sunday!

I'll guess your bus, GF, and mani/pedi (I know I'm not the first to guess it but I think I remember you mentioning it in the PTR??? Or maybe I'm crazy...haha).

Um... so it looks like swimming might be in your future?
The things we do for our kids!

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised swim trunks would be something you'd have to go to one particular place at Disney Springs to find. You'd think they'd be selling those things everywhere since it is something people might forget to pack and you're in frickin' Florida.

It wasn't bad food just expensive and very heavy for lunch option.

::yes:: especially my little fish.

I'm sure you didn't rub it in that he didn't make a packing list.
He had a pack list. He just didn't follow it.

Please tell me you found him a nice Daisy Duck or Minnie Mouse bathing suit!
:rotfl: I wish!

I suppose if you are being technical.

Love glass and watching glass makers. Wish I could do that.
It really is fasenating to watch.

Awwww....
I'll warn you now, now that I've got the Animations to work there may be an awful lot of them in this TR.

Why do I think this is a trick question?
As in "Well, they just missed theirs, so yours comes first."

It was a nice way to kick off the trip.

I really pushed the dining plan for this past trip because I liked the idea of having it all paid ahead of time, however, I'm passing next trip because it just was too much food and not conducive to the way I like to eat (I'm a grazer by nature).
Yeah, this isn't the last you're going to hear about the dining plan.

If you want the truly empty roads you will want to leave a bit earlier than that. But then we always are leaving on weekdays. This really is our preferred arrival schedule. It just sets up for an easy going day.

I'll guess your bus, GF, and mani/pedi (I know I'm not the first to guess it but I think I remember you mentioning it in the PTR??? Or maybe I'm crazy...haha).
:scratchin

It looks like such a great time at Disney Springs. She is adorable with Aurora. My computer won't let me quote
My guesses:
1. Yours
2. GF
3. Spa day (I do think you told us this already)

Glad to see you're back!

I'm so sorry about your ankle. Ankles can be really tricky, too. Several years ago, my husband broke his ankle and my sister sprained hers. My husband's healed just fine with no lingering problems, while my sister has had nothing but issues with he's. So strange.

I love WPE pizza, but you're right. The goat cheese pesto is the way to go!

I'll guess your bus came first, you were headed to GF for your spa time! I vaguely remember this in your planning.

Glad to see you're back!
Thanks! Glad to be back!

I'm so sorry about your ankle. Ankles can be really tricky, too. Several years ago, my husband broke his ankle and my sister sprained hers. My husband's healed just fine with no lingering problems, while my sister has had nothing but issues with he's. So strange.
Indeed. Did a mile and a half on the flat surface of a barnes and noble today with no issue but I can't even do .5mi on the slightest of slopes. I guess its a good thing that I don't have a Disney trip planned in my future for awhile. I'm back at square one (or worse) as far as ankle training and endurance goes.

I love WPE pizza, but you're right. The goat cheese pesto is the way to go!
I'll remember that for next time.

I'll guess your bus came first, you were headed to GF for your spa time! I vaguely remember this in your planning.

As we were leaving Little Miss showed her true colors as a Diser in training and excitedly told us to look up. She had big fun looking at the ceilings and I have to say that it made this mama proud!
:thumbsup2 Great job, Little Miss! Appreciating the details already.

1. Whose Bus Arrives first? Mine or DHs or both at the same time?
DH's - it seemed like the Deluxe buses didn't come as often when we were waiting.

2. Where is my bus taking me?
Grand Floridian, unless you jumped on a Poly bus to take the monorail over instead.

3. What am I going to do once I’m there?
Head to the spa for your mani/pedi gift.

DH and I joked that we probably could have skipped the MK tickets and she would have been just as thrilled!

Only problem with that is eventually she'll grow up and then find out you didn't take her. Then you'd hear about it!

He had a pack list. He just didn't follow it.

:sad2:

Creme Brule is a take it or leave it thing for me most times.

Oh really? I'd order that over almost anything else.

I suppose if you are being technical.

Just took me by surprise.

::yes:: I may have gotten a tad teary while watching them sword fight. :rotfl:

Not surprised in the least.

I'll warn you now, now that I've got the Animations to work there may be an awful lot of them in this TR.

I'm okay with that.

I'm changing my answer to both buses at the same time.

I love the little animations :-)

I had this report bookmarked a while back. Glad to see you're back! Looking forward to the rest.
