Surprising DW with a free trip to Disney(New 12-16 Pg 52)were back

Hope everything gets better. We finally got our power back last night about 4:30pm. 24 hrs is the longest we have ever been without power but I was very impressed that all the items in our fridge (not that there was much since i have not been feeling like shopping) were COLD! Course we left the fridge and freezer completely shut the whole time so that helped. We were just very glad that we did not have our baby yet since we would have had a couple day old infant in the house with us...course hopefully we would have been smart enough to go to one of our parents houses since they had power. We stayed at home because we did not expect power to be gone that long.

when parker was a few weeks old, we lost power over night, but he just slept and got up to eat like nothing was going on, even the loud thunder that shook the house, did not wake him, but it made us jump to the ceiling he did very good...i think he likes the sound of hte rain and thunder just like his mom when he is sleeping.

glad your stuff in your fridge was still cold.

Hi...did peoples homes get flooded??? My home was flooded back in the first week of April....water was waist deep outside the walkout basement door ...I had six pumps going and the water inside was knee deep

the news said if the food in the fridge gets over 40 degrees for more than 4 hours its not safe....I would thow it out ...the freezer stuff will be ok maybe.

In our town, we have the same homes that get flooded for rains, but our city was not as bad as some around us, there are alot that they are exacuating whole cities because the water is still rising.

some of the areas are 15+ feet higher in water than normal...and they are saying it will still rise...i think that is keeping the amount of people in our city from calling in and complaining about a few inches in there basements.

Candi is getting a new job, she had an interview about a year ago at the disney store, and had to turn them down, they did not work well with the hours that she wanted.

Well every time that we go in there since, the 2 managers always ask her how her job is going and if she wants to work with them, they want her to work a few days a week for a while then work up to a manager.

So we were in there last week and she said that she was thinking about working for them again, and the manager said that she will give her whatever days and times that candi wants and that in a few years when our kids are in school then she would want her to be full time and work as a manager, so we talked it over and she called her back with what she wanted as a schedule and the manager agreeded...she said that she would normally get ride of most of the people after the holidays, but that she will keep candi on...

She is very excited and the benefits are great even for part time workers, can you say going to disney every year baby.... :yay:

She will start in about 2 weeks

is that when you think you are going blood? wish they would move it up 1 week.
good news about the power for your sister.

That is great news for Candi, I always thought it would be fun to work at the Disney Store.
you should check it out, would benefit you even if you work 1 day a week.

good thing it was all still good.

when i was in college, we lost power on huge ice storm for about a 3 days, i took all the stuff out of the freezer at my house and took it to candis dorm, and filled her tube with ice and put everything in there, eveything thawed so i did not want to freeze it again, it was still cold, so i ended up cooking everything and we had a bunch of left overs when the power came back on.
:goodvibes popcorn::

Congrats Candi!!!!

I used to work at one my senior year in High School and I loved it! :goodvibes
