I figured it would be one of those pre-printed Mickey cards or glossy 8x10 autographed Mickey photos. They seem to be the standard "surprise".
After a less than stellar first Disney resort experience I was told, multiple times, that they were going to go "all out" to make our return visit, "extra special."
What we received was an autographed character photo for each of the kids in our room on arrival. It was the only above-and-beyond touch (i.e. something we didn't pay for) we experienced.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think that was nice, and my son liked that Buzz and Woody "sent me a card," but I didn't really think it qualified as "going all out," or was particularly "extra-special." And, after being told multiple times how "taken care of" we were going to be, and knowing how much money we had spent previously, and how many problems we had, as well as how much we were spending this time out, I admit I was kind of hoping for a view upgrade, or something at least a BIT more perk-like.
This in no way effected my trip, and I have no real complaints about it (gift horse, mouth and all that), but as far as "special treats" or "pixie dust" go, to use the Dis lingo, it's kind of lame. (Isn't the real thrill of character autographs/photos for kids actually MEETING the characters and seeing themselves in the photo with them?)
If Disney doesn't want to disappoint, it's probably better not to oversell something like a Mickey card as an extra-special, exclusive extra.
