Surprise, Honey! You're Taking Me to WDW! (6/10) Coming Soon, to a DISboard Near You!

As soon as I finish saving all the money we'll need! Or, I win the lottery, whichever comes first!

We're staying on points, but since we're going as a family in June '11, it seems wise to get APs for the two of us this Fall. It means a bit more $$ to lay out at the end of September, but its kind of silly to buy two four-day tickets for the weekend and then turn around and buy eight or nine-day tickets in June.

Luckily, we can get a $100 DVC discount on each AP. :thumbsup2

If I save enough I may use the expected AP discount and change from the villas to a regular room at Wilderness Lodge. I'd like to save points for June if I can!

I've already got enough saved for airfare, I think. I hope! The fares I've seen so far are really ridiculous!

Kathy

Yeah, that darn DVC discount on APs got to us, too... twice now! :lmao: The current AP discounts, for the summer months, are actually really reasonable at WL - we're booked one night there with cash this summer.

I hope you get all the money saved quickly and can let Ed in on the secret! :rotfl: Especially since that means you can put the ticker in your siggy! :teeth:

The AP discount is one of the few DVC "perks" that really means something to your wallet. We haven't been able to take advantage of it in quite some time because we've only been going once a year.

I'm actually getting a bit nervous about "the big reveal." Even if I do get all the money saved, he might balk! :headache:

Happy Mother's Day, Kathy!

I think you should do the parasailing! (Then, I can live vicariously through you because I know I will never do it. :lmao:)

The DVD collection sounds very neat!!! What a great way to get in the mood for upcoming trips!

I've never been parasailing but it looks like a lot of fun. Especially when they dunk you! :) It's something I'd like to try if I had the extra time and $$. I need to plan out a two week vacation at Disney. :rotfl:

I have the Disney planning dvd sitting around here that I got from the office. I grabbed another copy to make everyone else watch it lol. Haven't gotten around to it yet! Your dvds sound awesome!

Happy Mother's Day!

We really must get that TIVO someday... I've been bugging Ed for over a year! Oh well, I can't push my luck right now... soon I have to be able to bat my eyelashes and say, "Honey, when's the last time I asked you for anything?" :rotfl2:

Happy Mother's Day!

Kathy

Kathy, my friend, May you ever be blessed in your motherhood! Hope you enjoyed your special day!!

Kathy

Yup, dunk! Have you watched other people parasail before? Anytime I've seen it done at the local beaches or in the Carribbean, they have you up in the air for awhile, then slow the boat down so your legs at least get dipped in the water! Not sure they'll do this in Disney but just a warning! ;)

Hi Kathy! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. :goodvibes

I've never been parasailing but what an experience that would be for you! Even with the dunking!

Dunking ... They won't do it in WDW! The Lakes are "No Swim" zones do to a parasite that can live int eh warm waters of Florida. So I am 99.9% sure they won't dunk you into the Lake.

BUT it sounds like so much fun! NOW you could always wait and go parasailing while on your Disney Cruise! LOL They DO dunk on Castaway Cay! LOL

Uh, I'm not so sure... read the post below!

I've heard about the parasite in the lake before (Podcast Mantra: "Stay out of the ___ lakes!") :rotfl: That's why I was a bit freaked when the dunking thing came up!

Enjoy that dvd! Sounds great. :) I could watch Travel Channel Disney specials all day long!

I miss them a lot... we don't have TIVO! It'll be nice to have them and be able to watch whenever we need a little pixiedusting!

I hope you get to do the parasailing! I've never been but would love to someday! :goodvibes

Hey, it would be a real thrill for this forty-something year old! :rolleyes1

Thanks, Liesa! Same to you!

I've never even seen anyone parasail before (well, except on TV commercials!)

According to the above discussion, I should be pretty safe from the dunking!

Whew!

Kathy

I've never been para sailing. It actually freaks me out a little. Which really makes no sense since I have gone skydiving (and LOVED it). I think because it was tandem diving I felt save whereas the parasailing I worry about getting stuck up there.

Too many college spring break in mexico horror stories.

But I LOVE the idea of something new for your birthday!

Chapter Five: Should the Nurse Call a Code?

First, please let me apologize for the obscure play on words in the title.

In DIS-speak, we all start calling Disney Reservations like crazy when codes for resort discounts are offered!

Well, you may or may not know it, but in the medical field a "code" is when a patient needs to be resuscitated. When you "call a code" you summon the team.

Sorry, it was pretty lame, but I couldn't resist. :rolleyes1

But I am going to call on YOU, the members of this PTR Planning Team, to help me make a decision!

It seems as though I won't have to wait for AP discounts to be released for the first weekend in October... a general public, room-only discount code was released today (30% off Values and Mods, 40% off Deluxe Resorts) and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't save those precious DVC vacation points that I was going to use for a Studio at VWL and take advantage of the code instead.

Ack! It would mean even more $$ to lay out, but gosh, we really don't need a Studio for the two of us and I can get a nice King-bed room at a Mod like POFQ (which we love) for $122- $144 per night. That's so much more economical than using our points, which we can use for the family trip in June '11.

On the other hand....

I was hoping to use some fuzzy Disney math on my hubby when I spring the surprise on him. "Oh Ed, we're using our DVC points for the room so it's already paid for!" If I do take advantage of the code it adds $410, plus tax, to the cost of this little getaway.

It may not be do-able but, darn! I hate to pass up a good code! :headache:

Thoughts? Suggestions?

 See, now I like the idea of parasailing because you are attached to something! Skydiving... well... you're just jumping out into thin air!! That freaks me out a little!

I never went away for spring break... I always worked... so I've got some catching up to do!!

Kathy

If you use the points in September does that hurt your point situation next June? Will that make you have to borrow points or anything? If it doesn't hurt or impact future points, I would just stick with them, then you are not laying out more money.

Also, WVL, Artist Point, the boat to MK, etc are good perks for a nice, relaxing, romantic birthday celebration.
