Surprise, Honey! You're Taking Me to WDW! (6/10) Coming Soon, to a DISboard Near You!

HI!!!!

I am following along and trying to figure out when I could sneak a weekend trip in. LOL :rotfl:

My vote would be the California Grill for your Birthday Dinner (Friday?) and Artist Point on Saturday.

I love some fireworks and wouldn't want to miss them! Also Hallowishes is awesome viewed from far away. We watched from the Poly last year!

Yes this would use up 4 meal credits....BUT...You could pay out of pocket for one of you (who ever gets the cheaper meal) at Artist Point and use 2 Credits for the other person (more expensive Meal) and it would only cost you 2 credits and some out of pocket money for dinner there. We do this at CRT. We book saying we are using credits (so I don't have to pre pay) then when we get there we split the check and pay cash for one and use two credits for the other.

Oh I have been meaning to tell you this for weeks....Billy has the prettiest eyes, every time I look at his pictures they jump out at me!

Hi Lisa and :welcome:

Thanks, Billy does have some gorgeous baby blues! :lovestruc

Between you and MeMom I'm beginning to think that I may be able to get both my desired signature meals during this weekend trip! I never thought to split the credits/cash at a meal! That may turn out to be some very helpful advice!

Hi Jenny and :welcome:

I actually had started reading your PTR for the same reason, but got interrupted. I will have to go back and catch up so I can post!

I'm not sure if I would feel the same way about SSR now... we first stayed in 2005 and the resort was still under construction and the landscaping wasn't completely filled in. We lucked out with a great location in Congress Park with a gorgeous view of DTD. I thought the buses were a little slow, but again, the resort was rather new at the time.

The villas are very pretty. Perhaps the theme is just too subtle for me. The spa is amazing... you must schedule some pampering for yourself!

Great minds think alike I guess! :)

I actually requested the Congress Park section. I like the thought of being within walking distance of DTD and if I can get a view of it, even better. The only thing that intimidates me is the size of the resort. I've never stayed at a place so big, with multiple bus stops! :scared:

Thanks for the link!

Hi Kathy! You have two great choices it sounds like. I personally have not eaten at either one, but my parents just got back from their trip and ate at Artist Point and loved it! The atmosphere was quiet there and they really enjoyed their food! Their favorite meal by far, though, was Citricos! Best food and best service they have ever had, they said.

I do know that even though California Grill might be fabulous, it certainly is NOT quiet!

So I agree with everyone else....DO BOTH!!!! :goodvibes And add Citricos!

I'm so helpful!

Can I change my vote to Cali Grill? :) It dawns on me that the boat ride from MK back to WL after dinner could also be quite romantic, following your nice dinner.

And I second the vote to add Citrico's. That's by far our favorite restaurant in all of WDW!

I never thought about it, but if you can swing both, why not? It is your birthday after all, make this trip magical, romantic, and special :goodvibes.

Ed and I did eat at Citrico's once and you're right, Michelle, it was wonderful! We were seated in the center of the restaurant but we still had a glimpse of Wishes through the window!

Well, Tracy, the trip-planning boards are famous for encouraging Resort Creep... looks like now we'll have to add the hazard of Restaurant Creep!

I'm all for trying something new--go for California Grill!

Denise, that's one more vote for the brand-new experience! Sooo tempting, 'specially since we usually have the kiddos along...

My work here is done. :cool2:

So, I've been thinking about trying something totally new, fun, and adventurous for my actual birthday at WDW. (Not that simply being in WDW isn't thrilling enough!) I'd like to give us something really exciting to talk about over dinner!

I already know that I want to spend the day (Friday) at the Magic Kingdom, but the day will end early because there is a MNSSHP scheduled for that evening.

How about heading over to the CR marina for a little !

??

Have any of you ever gone parasailing?

Since I know that I will never bungee jump off of a bridge or parachute out of an airplane, this seems to fit the "thrilling and exciting" description without putting myself in too much mortal danger.

(Of course, I'd make Ed go first!)

Today I pre-ordered the Travel Channel's Disney Parks DVD Collection from Amazon.com. Not that I really need it to get myself in the Disney mood or anything, ;)

Wow about the parasailing, Bill would love to be able to try that. I hope you have great time.

I'm still considering it! I remember reading a past TR... was it one of topdog's? He took some awesome photos from his parasail over the Contemporary. I may have to swipe some to show you. ;)

Kathy

Tiggerbell did it a couple of years ago.

I've been parasailing before in the Caribbean. Me and my friend did the tandum (sp?) one where you go up together. It was a blast! I think you should do it!

That's right! I'll definitely have to "talk" to her about it. Thanks!

It's something I've always wanted to do... unfortunately, unless I can lose about 50 lbs before the trip we wouldn't be able to go up together. :rolleyes1

I have, however, been very good with my food choices this past week and have lost 5 lbs. A mere drop in the bucket, but hey, its better than nothing.

Oh, and congrats on the new ticker!

I must have one for this trip... but can't put it in my siggie yet!

Kathy

When do you plan on telling Ed about your romantic birthday getaway to WDW? ;)

As soon as I finish saving all the money we'll need! Or, I win the lottery, whichever comes first!

We're staying on points, but since we're going as a family in June '11, it seems wise to get APs for the two of us this Fall. It means a bit more $$ to lay out at the end of September, but its kind of silly to buy two four-day tickets for the weekend and then turn around and buy eight- or nine-day tickets in June.

Luckily, we can get a $100 DVC discount on each AP. :thumbsup2

If I save enough I may use the expected AP discount and change from the villas to a regular room at Wilderness Lodge. I'd like to save points for June!

I've already got enough saved for airfare, I think. I hope! The fares I've seen so far are really ridiculous!
