Surprise, Honey! You're Taking Me to WDW! (6/10) Coming Soon, to a DISboard Near You!

Oh goodness, thats what I get for being so slow in getting over here - your on page 12 already! I'm subscribing and I'll be back later to catch up on everything :thumbsup2

oooops, make that page 13.......

I'm late to the party too!!! Kathy, I'm so enjoying reading this PTR!! It sounds like some great plans!!!

OK, Kathy, I think I'm all up to speed! I totally get your desire to be planning another trip, the thought of me not being able to go for a few YEARS is truly depressing me, I've been fantasizing about an adults only F&W trip myself - although, I'm certain that your trip is much more likely to happen than mine. :thumbsup2

As for the birthday dinner, not sure if you've made a decision there or not yet, and I haven't eaten at either, but here is my two cents: if you are looking for romantic I think AP would be the way to go. From what I have read CG, while very good, is loud and not at all intimate - not what comes to mind when I'm thinking romantic.....

Parasailing - I say go for it! I've never done it, but my mom has and she had a blast (no dunking involved either).

As far as the dilemma over points or code - If you can swing the extra cost, I would save my points for a nice long family vacation and use the code for your mini trip.

subbing and will try to catch up tomorrow night!

Great to "see" you, wigd! How's the arm?

Hey Kathy!! You've got some really good opinions there, but quite a range of them too. I hope in the end, it was helpful :)

Very good opinions, as always! And of course, I'm still mulling things over because I'm a Libra and that's what Libras do!

switch my ressie to Wilderness Lodge! LOL.

Am excited about your PTR and surprise for your DH. It's super sweet of you! I vote to save the points for your family trip, I can't let a good code go to waste because who knows when you'll get the same rate again.

I also vote for Artist's Point because the food looks interesting there, I have never been there, but now I want to go!

 The surprise may be on him, but make no mistake about it... the trip is for ME!! ;)

I feel the same way about not wanting to let a good code go to waste!

Hi Jen, welcome to the planning party! :goodvibes

I definitely want to use the code and am hoping that I can!

If I do, however, I don't know if there will be money left for the parasailing.

AP would definitely be more intimate and CG more exciting! Yikes!
Decisions, Decisions!

Chapter Five: The Beans Are Practically Spilled!

As you all know, Ive been looking for a full-time job in dermatology nursing. My hours have slowly been dwindling at the practice where I've been working for the past nine years, partially because the doctor is cutting his hours and partially because he has decided to go with using one RN and one MA (Medical Assistant) instead of two RNs. MA's are cheaper labor. :rolleyes2

Well, this must be the new trend in derm offices because it has been very difficult locating a practice that is looking for a full-time RN.

Yesterday, however, I went on an interview for a what I thought was simply a full-time position. (I was referred through a medical recruitment company.)

Surprisingly, the position is more than just office nursing... its for Clinical Supervisor of three offices within the practice. They use nothing but LPNs and MAs and need an RN to supervise all the clinical staff. The HR Director asked me back for a second interview to meet with the Medical Director on Monday...

Problem is, I'm feeling very conflicted about the job, should it be offered.

Pro: More money.

Con: Saleried, supervisory position. I wanted full-time, but this is the kind of job that would be more than a 40-hour work week. Been there, done that, so I know!

Pro: More money.

Con: 40-minute commute, plus some traveling to the other two offices within the practice, one of which is in NYC. Currently I'm very spoiled... my office is so close that I could walk to work if I really had to!

Pro: More money.

Con: It's really difficult to come into a new work environment as a supervisor when you don't even know where the supply closet is! And I'm unfamiliar with many of the lasers and treatments this practice uses. Boy, do I hate being the newbie!

Con: More money.

Now, I must admit that I don't exactly know how much more money it would be... when I told Mr. HR what my current hourly salary was, he immediately said, "No problem." :confused3 I guess I will not find out the salary/benefit details until I am offered the job.

Naturally, I've been weighing the above pros and cons with hubby. He is being supportive as always, but I know that it would be a great relief to him if I could pull in some more money each week.

He was so sweet that I almost spilled the beans.

"If I do get a full-time job and things get a little easier financially," I said, "I'd like for us to get away for a little weekend together at Walt Disney World!"

He agreed!

(Little does he know that this weekend trip is almost completely planned already!)

And so... the pressure is really on!

Depending on how the second interview goes Monday, will I take the job or not? Will I get my birthday weekend at Disney, or has this all been just a pipe dream??

Tune in Monday to find out! :surfweb:

Kathy

Oh Kathy, what a decision! Your cons are valid considerations, but my first reaction is to say go for it. Easy for me to say right? Being the newbie can be intimidating, but it also sounds like an exciting career advancement. Commutes can make a big difference... is it at least an interesting 40 minutes? ;)

Good luck with your 2nd interview, if of course you decide that is what you want to do :thumbsup2

At least you know DH would be on board with your little getaway should the opportunity arise!

Lots of pixie dust for you, Kathy! :wizard:

I have a question after reading your update -- is a Medical Assistant the same thing as a Physician's Assistant? Or are they different?

Good Luck Kathy... new jobs and searching is awfully stressful. You will deserve a trip once the search is over.

Good luck with your 2nd interview Kathy!! Lots of Pixie dust towards making whatever decision you feel is best for you!!

Will be waiting to hear on Monday what you have decided!!!

Last November we had to borrow 4 points from 2010-2011 because we wanted the Savanna-View at Kidani. The June trip will be mostly this year's points and just a few borrowed if we want to stay the full nine nights (Those weekends are a killer, aren't they?!)

yes and we have two for this trip...

So yes, I would prefer to use the Code for the weekend if I could. I dislike split stays, they have given me headaches in the past. :headache:

oh man are you telling me and we have not even got there yet...:headache:

Love the news about the job...understnad those cons w/ travel and more hours...hots to think about and how does that play into your home life and the kids and such...

here's hoping the answer will gently presnet itself to you and you will feel good w/ whatever you decide...either way hope the 2nd interview goes well :goodvibes

and love the spilled beans moment :rotfl:

J~

Good luck on your second interview! I say go for it! Easier said than done, I know. I'll be here Monday so see what you decided! :)

Sending more pixie dust your way. Good luck on your interview no matter waht you decide.

Just stumbled on your PTR today! Hope all goes well tomorrow and the pay will make the hassles all worth it! I recently decided I needed a vacation so we're going to Sea World for two days. That wasn't enough for me - I had to squeeze in breakfast at Disney to get my Disney fix until we're there later this year! If we could swing getting our APs sooner, we'd spend the time at Disney no question. That's not in the cards right now so we're checking on Sea World.

Have a great time planning for the trip and I hope all your dreams come true!!! :goodvibes

popcorn::I'm loving the suspense, Ed, the job etc.. I am definately in! Funny, I was lurking on the boards trying to get a Diz fix as two weddings and Grandchildrens birthdays axed my usuallly F&G trip I take each year. I was not planning to return to Disney until September for NOJ but just couldn't stand it and have booked a Star Wars weekend (never been) quick trip to tie me over. I'm hoping to take a Monday off, have to see what the boss says next week!Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will for your trip too!!

PS: Being the "newbie" in the office has it's advantages, your not part of the politics, bring a fresh perspective and get to me lots of interesting people you may not have encountered!

Holy cow!! How did I miss this!?!

I love that you are planning a secret trip and am keeping my fingers crossed that the interview goes well on Monday! I know nothing points vs codes or singature restaurants, but I will be reading anxiously as I hope that someday there will be a parents only trip for Ryan and me!
