Surprise 13th Birthday Trip Day 2 (POFQ)

Day 2

Today we planned to spend the day at the Magic Kingdom. The park was open from 9am-10pm.

We had breakfast PS at Crystal Palace at 8:05am. Great food and service. Will go there again! We finished and were at the entrance to Liberty Square 5 minutes before the rope drop. Of course it was off to Splash Mountain. It seems we spent the entire trip going on Splash Mountain!
(That's what happens when you tell your child "This trip is entirely for you - we will do whatever you want whenever you want)

We learned our fast pass lesson from yesterday so we walked next door to Thunder Mountain and got a fast pass while we rode (guess what?) Splash Mountain. I was very surprised at how HOT it got during the day! It was in the upper 80's and the sun just burned right through you! Rode Splash Mtn again.

We headed over to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain. It was a 25 min wait so we got a fast pass and headed over to Buzz Lightyear (15 min wait). We saw that Stitch's Escape was now open all day long but had a 45 min wait with no fast passes available (machines not installed yet). I begged my daughter to let me choose a ride and she said OK so I picked Carousel of Progress. I love this ride and it's always closed when we go and there was no wait (nobody appreciates it)

The CM at COP gave us some real pixie dust by announcing to the audience that it was my DD's birthday and she gave us a fast pass ticket good for any ride at any time for two people!
WOW! That solved our problem with Stitch's Escape!

We went right onto Stitch's Escape (some folks looked a little angry because they had been roasting in the sun for 45 minutes and I felt a little guilty ) The attraction was really cool but I must warn pregnant ladies....without doing a spoiler.....if a really foul smell will make you sick and cause you to have to go back to the hotel to lie down, skip this one. If not, it's a hoot!

After having lunch at Cosmic Ray's, my DD and I felt like we were having heat stroke and we each had a blister (already!) so we went back to POFQ for a nice nap. Again, I can't say enough nice things about the resort. Very compact, comfy beds/pillows, plush rooms, and great bus service.

We had dinner PS at Chef Mickey for her birthday. We got to ride the monorail from the Contemporary back to Magic Kingdom and yes, it still smells from God knows what.

Guess what we had to go ride? Yes, Splash Mountain again. (Still limping from sore feet and blisters - gotta get better sneakers - the Reeboks weren't cutting it). Stayed and watched Wishes. I thought it was OK but felt maybe that the DIS boards built it up so high that I expected something like Illuminations. Guess what? Had to go ride Splash Mtn. again!

Back to the resort to collapse (Limping and sweating like pigs - still hot at night!) Thank God the resort is small and it isn't a long hike to the room.

Lessons for today: (1)There is such a thing as too much of a good thing (I loved Splash Mountain the first 10 times but now am having a minor nervous breakdown over hearing that song over and over and over and over... )
(2) Pay for the more expensive shoes so you don't suffer
(3) Fast Pass really works and is worth it

Thanks for the days so far. I guess they will never get rid of the smell. I think it is that one car. I have been unlucky to get in that car twice so far. I can't remember what the color is but is smells like some has thrown up. Sorry about the graphics.

I know they posted a 45 minute wait at Stitch, but we found that to be highly inflated when we waited on line. Glad you got FPs so that you were able to do it!
