Day 18, August 30

Cove Cafe

Our next stop was the Cove Cafe. We felt like some really good coffee.

Tom got a

Cappuccino, 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, 1/3 froth.

I needed something more ........ filling!

Mochaccino, 1/3 espresso and chocolate blended with vanilla ice cream, let me tell you, it was wonderful!

Next up - Castaway Club Onboard Reception

Karin...OMG that Mochaccino looks amazing and I'm sure it tasted just as delicious as it looks. I will have to cruise again just for that. Wish I had one now. Howie had the shrimp and onion cheesecake too and ate 1/2, but of course it shouldn't go to waste so I just had to finish it. I also had the veal trio and really enjoyed it.

I had the veal several times, because I really loved it.
And let me tell you that I am very much looking forward to one of those Moccaccinos in the summer as well. They were so good. Just let them know that you want to just sit and enjoy it in the cafe - otherwise they will deliver in a styrofom cup!

My goal next cruise is to have the pink champagne. What is panna cotta like?

You need to try it, Jen. It is really good.
Panna Cotta means cooked cream, has the consistancy of blancmange, but is much richer. It tasted wonderful with the chocolate on top and we had it another time with raspberry coulis!

Palo Brunch Part 1

Next stop on our food-feast morning was the Palo Brunch.

After signing in we were taken to our table. Gabriella our server led us to the buffet.

Once back at our table we were served

a Mimosa and some water. Then we were off to the buffet to enjoy and fill our plates.

My plate!

Grilled veggies, gorgonzola cheese, gorgonzola and walnut bread, salmon, artichoke and olives, seared tuna, shrimps and cocktail sauce to dip them in, serrano ham wrapped asparagus and a trout mousse.

Tom's plate! In addition to what I had taken he had a Bloody Mary shrimp shot, scallops and crab legs and a salmon mousse.

We look pretty happy, don't we?

Palo Brunch Part 2

Next up was the warm course.

We shared a four cheese pizza, which was wonderful!

Tom had the Chicken Cacciatore, which came with Risotto and was moist and very tasty.

I had the Eggs Florentine, poached egg on sauteed spinach, sitting on top of a toasted English Muffin, topped with Hollandaise sauce. Yummy!

Next up were desserts!

I had taken a Tiramisu,

a little chocolate tart, a chocolate covered strawberry and a vanilla cream filled profiterole.

Tom had some fresh fruit salad with a vanilla cream cornel on top, a chocolate covered strawberry and some vanilla joghurt with granola.

To say we were stuffed when we left is kind of an understatement!

Jen, it is just a wonderful buffet. What CC level are you? If you are silver you should be online first thing the day your window opens. The buffet is booked up pretty fast.

It is an awesome buffet! And all the food is amazing. The server will give you a tour of the buffet, explaining everything.
I really hope you get to go on a Disney cruise rather sooner than later! It is truly a wonderful experience..

Skyline

In the afternoon, we met with two very nice friends, Ileana and Debby for drinks at Skyline.

Tom asked the server if he could order a

687 special brew beer and sure, he was able to get him one. Guess Tom must have liked it a lot, as this was the second one he got.

Us girls all had cocktails, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to what was ordered, but they all tasted very nice and looked fun too!

After having fun with friends it was time to return to our stateroom and get ready for dinner.

Day 18, August 30

Palo

More food for us today, as dinner was at Palo.

We arrived a few minutes early, waited at Meridian and were seated right on time.
Again, Gabriella was our server.

We started our meal with some

antipasti. They bring them out on a cart and you can decide what you want. We asked to sample the whole variety. There were olives, rosted peppers and fennel, bressaola and parma ham and large chunks of aged parmesan cheese, all dressed with aged balsamic vinegar. Very yummy!

Once these were placed on the table we were also served some of Palo's

freshly baked bread from their pizza oven, Grissini sticks, olive and ciabatta rolls, and focaccia bread

and some

chive and basil infused butter.

Our starters were the

Pizza Margherita, Tomato sauce, Sliced Tomatoes and Mozzarella for me and Gabriella told Tom that he would get a surprise starter, as there were several things he wanted to try.

Grilled Portobello Mushroom and Polenta with a Roasted Shallot Sauce and a parmesan crisp

Sicilian Pesto Marinated Grilled Shrimp on a mussel, crab and cherry tomato ragu and

Fritto Misto di Pesce con Olive all' Ascolana. deep-fried calamari, scallops, and mussels with lemon and deep-fried green olives, with delicious marinara dipping sauce. This appetizer sampler sent Tom to appetizer heaven!

Next up was the Palate cleanser

Lime sorbet, cold and tart and so nice inbetween courses.

Tom's main course was the

Osso Bucco di Vitello, slow-roasted center cut veal shank with gremolata and risotto Milanese. He had ordered this before on the Wonder and loved it and it didn't disappoint this time either. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone and the risotto was cooked perfectly. He really loved it.

But that wasn't all we got .......

We had told Gabriella beforehand that we had enjoyed the

Lobster and Mascarpone Ravioli with a light truffle beurre blanc. So she brought us a small portion to share. Yum!!

I had ordered another favourite of ours, (or mine ), the

the Beef Tenderloin "Palo" served with gorgonzola sauce, which was cooked perfectly and the gorgonzola sauce is perfect with the meat.

There was no question what we would order for dessert.

Palo's famous Chocolate Souffle, served with vanilla sauce and chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream.

Gabriella prepared it for us and we just enjoyed this heavenly treat. The souffle is very soft and velvety and tastes wonderful with the liquid chocolate and vanilla sauce.

Once we had settled the bill, we were served our digestive,

lime sorbet on prosecco. Fresh and cool and tart, so good!

We got in on our first cruise! There is always a chance and if you can't get it right away, keep checking back, many things were not available to start with, but opened up lateron!
Did you link all of your reservations for your family trip? Much easier, if only one person makes reservations.

Food all looks yummy... I so love reading your reviews but it makes me hungry.

Palo is a wonderful restaurant! The service is out of this world and the food comes really close to real Italian.

Well, that chocolate souffle has no words to describe it. Best dessert ever! That's why we get it every time we go.

And I am glad you are still reading along ...... I know this review has taken a lot of time, but real life sometimes gets in the way and I am doing 4 threads at the same time. Keeps me really busy!

Room service breakfast

We had finally made it back to Castaway Cay and didn't want to waste time on going to a restaurant for breakfast, so we just ordered room service breakfast the night before.

Beware! They are ON TIME!
Ours arrived right at 7.30

We had ordered tea and coffee, juice, a fruit bowl, some chocolate milk,

bagels and

pastries.

And while this might be your regular continental breakfast, the setting was out of this world, out on the veranda, with a view of Castaway Cay.
