Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Day 16, August 28

Vista Cafe

We had forgotten WHERE we had to meet for our cruise meet and greet and waited in the Vista Cafe.
So we both got another

IMG_1842-1.jpg

Cappuccino

and Tom also got us a plate full of yummies.

IMG_1839.jpg

Yummy, chewey chocolate chip cookies, a sweet cool chocolate covered strawberry, a chocolate eclair and a pineapple fruit tart. They all were very good! :goodvibes

Next up - Royal Palace

Day 16, August 28

Royal Palace

Again, it was time for dinner, dinner at the Royal Palace. :goodvibes

We started our meals with a drink .....

I had the

IMG_1864.jpg

Double Crowned, Crown Royal, Chambord, Cointreau, Cranberry Juice, Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, which was really yummy, but a bit on the "strong" side!

Tom had decided to order a glass of

IMG_1865.jpg

white wine. I know it was one we had tried during the wine tasting, but can't remember which one, :confused3, sorry.

They placed the bread on the table, and it was

IMG_1863.jpg

Warm Herb Brioche with an

IMG_1862.jpg

Olive Spread. Both were as yummy as a few days before. ;)

I started out my meal with the

IMG_1868.jpg

Comtesse Du Barry's Soup, rich, velvety Cauliflower Cream, topped with Salmon Caviar Croutons. And it was as delicious as it sounds in the description. :thumbsup2

Tom ordered my favourite, the

IMG_1866.jpg

Double Baked Spinach Souffle, coated with a three cheese cream. This is so good. The souffle has a perfect consistancy - it is soft and velvety and the cream sauce adds so much more depth to the taste. I could eat this every day. :goodvibes

Tom ordered the

IMG_1869-1.jpg

Oven-Baked Salmon Royal, crowned with King Smoked Salmon and Horseradish Crust accompanied by sauteed Swiss Chard, truffle-infused Cauliflower Puree and White Wine Beurre Blanc. It again was very good. The salmon was still a little pink in the middle and the cauliflower puree was to die for!

I had the

IMG_1872.jpg

Roasted Wild Boar Tenderloin, sweet carrot and onion potato cake with a red currant reduction. This has become a favourite of mine. The tenderloin is very tender and it had always been cooked to a perfect medium. The potato cake is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and the meat goes wonderfully with the sauce.

Time for dessert!

Maybe I should let you guess what Tom had for dessert ....... but then ....... ;)

IMG_1875.jpg

Yes, he had the souffle again! He loves this dessert and it really is very good.

I had ordered the

IMG_1873-1.jpg

Peanut Butter Mousse, dark chocolate infused with peanut butter, chiffon cake, and whipped cream. And I gobbled it all up ......

We were stuffed when we finally made our way back to our stateroom!

Next up - Royal Palace

I love that soufflé too and the peanut butter mousse. I think it iwl lbe 2 desserts again for me there when we sail! :thumbsup2

Yum! I love spinach. That looks so good. Believe it or not though, I have never had soufflé

Tom LOVES the Grand Marnier Souffle, I have yet to get it myself, but I think this summer could be the right time to do so! :thumbsup2
And that peanut butter mousse is just awesome! I really love it, glad you like it too!
And btw ..... did Claire's outfit arrive yet? I really hope it does!

Yum! I love spinach. That looks so good. Believe it or not though, I have never had soufflé

Ann, you would love the Souffle! It is just awesome with the cheese saue and Tom's Grand Marnier one, which I got to taste, just have never ordered myself, is very good too.
These Souffles are so soft and silky and they melt in your mouth! Yum, yum, yum! But the best of it is the Chocolate Souffle from Palo!!!!!!! :cloud9:

Day 17, August 29

Royal Palace

Another day, another breakfast - but it looks like we are creatures of habit ...... those Royal Palace breakfast items look very much the same.

So here goes ....

I started off my breakfast with

IMG_1876.jpg

some nice tea, while Tom ordered some coffee.

We both had our usual starters, Tom had the

IMG_1878.jpg

Swiss Bircher Muesli, Muesli with raisins, shredded apples and yogurt, while I again ordered the

IMG_1877.jpg

Mornin' Tug Boat, fresh blend of strawberries, bananas, almonds, raisin granola and low-fat yogurt

and here we go again with hot course ...... :sad2: :rotfl2:

IMG_1881.jpg

IMG_1880.jpg

The Big Breakfast, a large filled omelet on savory toast with grilled tomatoes, bacon and baked beans topped with caramelized onions, while I had the

IMG_1879.jpg

Traditional Eggs Benedict, toasted English muffin with grilled Canadian bacon, served with poached egg topped with hollandaise sauce, grilled roma tomatoes and link sausages.

Next up - Royal Palace

Day 17, August 29

Royal Palace

Again, we chose Royal Palace for lunch. This time our new friends, Jeff, Lily, Molly and Philip joined us after we had come back from Nassau.

Tom ordered the

IMG_1887.jpg

Vegetable Quesadillas, served with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo, which were very nice.

I had the

IMG_1892.jpg

Ginger-infused Carrot Soup with yogurt, which I had had before and was really looking forward to. The sweetness of the carrots and the slight kick from the ginger make for some yummy soup.

One of the kids had ketchup with the meal and the way it was presented was too cute.

IMG_1889.jpg

My main course was the

IMG_1893.jpg

Glazed Meatloaf with smashed yukon potatoes, buttered carrots, long beans and gravy. I was amazed at how well seasoned and moist the meatloaf was. The mash was awesome and the veggies still had a bit of a bite to them. All in all I was very pleased.

Tom had chosen the

IMG_1896.jpg

Turkey Melt Sandwich on Whole-Grain Panini, thinly sliced roast turkey breast, thousand island dressing, and melted cheddar cheese served with potato chips. There was lots of meat, which worked pretty well with a generous amount of cheese and the dressing.

We skipped dessert as we had been late coming in and didn't want to hold up the restaurant.

Next up - Pink

Great updates Karin :goodvibes

I particularly like the look of the veggie quesadillas that Tom had for lunch a the Royal Palace :thumbsup2

Thanks, Linda!
I guess you will have to try the quesadilla for yourself on your upcoming cruise. Lunch in the dining room is really nice, even though the menu is more limited than in Cabanas. But it is so worth it for the service! :thumbsup2

Day 17, August 29

Pink

We had done the Champagne tasting, but we really wanted to try the Taittinger Pink Champage, so in the afternoon we made our way to Pink.

It was a bit odd, as we were the only guests there, but that would give us more attention from the Cast Members, so why not?

IMG_1909.jpg

We both ordered a glass of the

IMG_1910.jpg

Taittinger Pink Champagne and the CM taking our order asked if we preferred , chocolate, raspberry or mango.
Both of us were puzzled, but she insisted we decided on one and that it was a surprise. :goodvibes

Turns out that with the champagne you are served some

IMG_1915.jpg

IMG_1914.jpg

IMG_1916.jpg

panna cotta topped with the topping of your choice!

Needless to say, we really enjoyed both, the champagne and the accompanyment. They went very well together. :thumbsup2

IMG_1912.jpg

IMG_1917.jpg

And after the visit to Pink there was no shortage of adult beverages for Tom ..... he had to try Nassau's finest! ;) :rotfl2:

IMG_1907.jpg

Welcome back, Jeff!
Didn't we have so much fun that first night? Well, as far as I remember we had fun every little bit of time we spent together! :rotfl2:
Oh, and I remember that breakfast of yours - the pineapple stack is delish, isn't it? I really need to get one in the summer. :goodvibes

I am sure next time you cruise you'll have lots more time to check out the adult areas! :thumbsup2

What fun to be the only guests... the champagne and accompaniment look wonderful

We had so much fun with the CM! She was amazing .... she stuck around to keep us entertained and showed us around the whole bar, pointing out things we hadn't known or seen before. It was such a great time! :cloud9:

Day 17, August 29

Animator's Palate

Today's dinner was at Animator's Palate.
I started my dinner with

IMG_1937.jpg

the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes, Pasta purse filled with truffle scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce. These are very good, the pasta is cooked perfectly and the truffle scented cheese inside is really delish. Love the champagne sauce.

Tom had the

IMG_1935.jpg

Sesame Flavored Rock Shrimp and Carmalized Onion Cheesecake with Asian barbeque sauce and topped with micro greens. I was a bit hesitant at first, but it really was a wonderful combination.

My main course was the

IMG_1944.jpg

Animator's T rio of Veal, Grilled tenderloin, pulled shank and tortellacci pasta with a sun-dried tomato and sage reduction and garnished with a potato crisp. The tenderloin was very tender and perfectly medium. The pulled veal was served in a sauce and it was very tasty and i loved the tortellini! :thumbsup2

Tom went for the

IMG_1941.jpg

Marinated Angus Beef Tenderloin, carved to order on wasabi mashed potatoes with bok choy and tamarind-barbecue reduction. Again, it was very well received. The tenderloin lived up to its name ...... it was very tender. The wasabi mashed potatoes are really delish - a little kick from the wasabi - wonderful. Not a huge fan of the bok choy, but the reduction made up for it!

The entertainment was in full swing.

IMG_1946.jpg

IMG_1945.jpg

and we enjoyed the service our servers provided.

IMG_1947.jpg

IMG_1958.jpg

Needless to say we needed dessert as well.

Tom had the

IMG_1955.jpg

Crunchy Walnut Cake, Dark Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Coulis - nice! :thumbsup2

I thought it was time to try one of the samplers. So I got the

IMG_1949.jpg

Sweet Temptations, a trio of

IMG_1950.jpg

Pineapple Financier, Almond cake served with whipped cream - not my favourite dessert, and the

IMG_1951.jpg

Crunchy Walnut Cake, Dark Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Coulis and the

IMG_1952.jpg

Lemon Mousse, with mango coulis and dark chocolate, which I liked best.

Day 18, August 30

Cabanas

Another day, more food! ;)

We had a day planned that was FULL of food! We had gotten up early and decided that we could just have a "small" breakfast at Cabanas.

So, here's my plate

IMG_1962.jpg

Scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and a grilled tomato. Regular fare. To be fair, though, there was a lot to choose from, both hot and cold items! :thumbsup2

IMG_1963.jpg

Tom had the same as I had, he just had added some toast, butter and jam and a breakfast wrap. :thumbsup2

Next up - Cove Cafe

Day 18, August 30

Cove Cafe

Our next stop was the Cove Cafe. We felt like some really good coffee.

Day 18, August 30

Castaway Club Onboard Reception

There still was lots more food to be had. :lmao:

At 11am we were invited to our first Castaway Club Onboard Reception, since we had just turned Gold Castaway Club Members.

We were greeted with a champagne cocktail and some canapes.

IMG_1971-1.jpg

Tom had

IMG_1972.jpg

salmon canapes, while I had

IMG_1973.jpg

brie on crackers, topped with raspberrys. Both were equally yummy and there were lots of other options, but we knew we had another reservation in just half an hour.

When we had to leave we got a little farewell present.

IMG_2040.jpg

A Mickey rice crispy treat! :goodvibes
