Supersoap Weekend???

Wow Jackie, you've gone all 10 years?! That's great! This will be my 4th year and I can't imagine not going. Mostly I am a GH fan, but I keep up with the happenings on the other shows. Can't wait until the stars list is announced.

When you go to SSW how long do you usually stay, I'm planning and hopping that I can go this year. All soap fans, you know how they show Fun In The Sun, they are coming to Chicago for the taste this sat. but I can't go!

We usually arrive Friday and stay at the Boardwalk resort. I like to stay at the Boardwalk because I walk to MGM Studios. Friday we go to Epcot to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival, watch the Eat to the Beat concert, and hope to see some stars early. I can't wait until they post who will be coming. You will always have the usual, Susan Lucci, Kassie DePaiva, Wally Kurth (he wasn't there last year because wife was having a baby) Cameron Mathison. I hope this year there will be some new faces. Many of the stars have been there several times in a row. Mind you I am NOT complaining, I do go back year after year. This is one weekend that I truly look forward to year after year. I get great pictures and have gotten to chat with several of the stars every year (just happen to be at the right place at the right time) I like to go both days. You really can't do everything in one day. A word of advise, get the schedule of where the stars are as soon as possible and plan ahead who you want to see. Saturday is always busier than Sunday. I go both days in case I missed someone on Saturday I can get them on Sunday. I think they are going to do some special activies this year since it's the tenth annual, I'm not sure what yet. :cheer2: :flower:

The first year I went, I had no idea what it was really like. We only went for the weekend and were disappointed we didn't have enough time to do everything. The past two years we made more of a trip out of it, enjoying the Food Festival as well. This year we're going Thursday - Monday. We'll probably do the Food Festival on Friday too. I'm really glad they have both events going on at the same time. It makes it that much more fun. This is the first year we're staying at the BWV so that we can walk to MGM. Should be a really nice place.

This is my sixth year staying at Boardwalk resort. We love it there. We have spoiled ourselves so much that we only stay on the concierge floor. It is great, get up in the morning have breakfast in the lounge, then during the day when there is an hour or so in between things I walk back to my room go to the lounge and enjoy whatever is being served, grab a few sodas, walk back to MGM to enjoy the rest of the activites, my favorite is the grand motorcade at the end and the street jam concert, walk back to hotel enjoy dessert and a drink in the lounge, watch the fireworks from the lounge and do the same thing all over again Sunday. This year we are coming on Thursday and leaving Monday. Last year I missed a few extra activities that were going on before the main event on Saturday and Sunday. Who knows Dischick4778 we just might see each other there. :goodvibes

Wouldn't that be funny! We're staying near each other and traveling on the same days. :rotfl: What is the walk to MGM from the boardwalk like? Is it a clear path?

It's a really nice walk, on a well lit path. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Boardwalk to MGM. Some times it's faster to walk than ride the boat. I usually walk because I'm to excited to wait for the boat. Who do you want to see this year? :Pinkbounc I like to see them all. I don't have a favorite. This year I plan on going to the Susan Lucci breakfast. :flower:

I love All My Children. I'm going in September--don't think I could swing a November trip too!! My DH might want a divorce!!

This year it would be nice to meet Steve Burton, Greg Vaughan & Nancy Lee Grahn. In years past I've met Beck Herbst (and her husband), Ric Hearst, Ingo, Scott Clifton, Chad Brannon, Kelly Monaco and a bunch of Port Charles stars when that was around. The only one I thought was snooty was Ingo. He kept checking the line and getting annoyed that there were so many people still on it. Then when I got up to meet him he said "where's the camera?" and sisn't even ask my name for the autograph. But the sweetest stars have been Chad & Scott. I also met Tyler Christopher's cousin, the guy who plays Max, on the streets of MGM and he was super nice.

Who have you met and look forward to meeting this year?

I have met Catherine Hickland, Kassie Depaiva, Alexa Havins, Kelly Monoco, and Hilary B. Smith. I don't bother with the autograph sessions, (just a waste of time in my opinion) espacially since you have to have a fastpass for each autograph. I like to walk around the park and take pictures of the stars while they do autographs, I just walk right up and in between autographs I call out their name, they look up, take the picture and move on to the next star. What's really nice is that have I have made several friends over the years and we look out for each , we save seats while the other goes and does what ever activity thay want to do and we take turns. I've kept in touch with four ladies that I have met. I'd love to meet you too Dischick4778. :cheer2: I only live two hours away so we make the Disney trip several times a year.

Maybe you could change your arrival dates Kimber1963. Have you ever been to Super Soap Weekend?

I usually do one day of fast passes and the next day I run around and take pics just like you. At least now with the fast passes you are guaranteed to meet someone you really want to see.

It would be fun to meet up with you. Since we are staying near each other we could walk the trail together. We should definitely coordinate before the trip. :goodvibes

I will also be there August 24-29. If you happen to be there around that time we could meet before the big weekend.

Hi all,I'm new to this board :wave2: I have some questions about the upcoming SSW. I've never been before, and I'm completely clueless about where to begin lol...I'm guessing that reserving the hotel room is probably the best way to start, but which hotels are best,if you're planning on going to SSW? Are there certain ones that are closer to the event?

Welcome! You are in the right place. It really doesn't matter which hotel you stay at. However, the Boardwalk hotel and villas are the closest (a nice walk) from MGM. That is where I'm staying this year. The main reason is the lines for fastpass (autographs) starts forming around 7 am outside MGM. However, the Disney buses usually don't start running until 7 - 7:30 am. So you would wind up on the end of what becomes a very long line. If you didn't want to do the autograph sessions you wouldn't need to be there until around 9 am. So it's really up to you. Please let me know if you have any other specific questions. :wave2:

Thanks for that info.! Yeah,I'm definitely interested in getting a FastPass for autographs,so I guess I need to stay at the Boardwalk lol. Right now,the only other questions I can think of are: How exactly does a FastPass work? Do you purchase it along with your admission ticket to MGM or in advance? And,I'm pretty sure I need to book a hotel room asap, but what about tickets to the MGM Studios? I don't know if I'm safe waiting to buy those :earboy2:

Welcome LSM7680. Super Soap Weekend is a lot of fun, but you need to be prepared ahead of time. Try to get the schedule of the stars as soon as possible and make a plan on who you really want to see, there are a lot of activites and you might not be able to do every event. If you want autographs get there as early as possible because the lines are long and tend to get nasty in situations like that (mostly pushing and shoving) As far as which hotel, I would make reservations like yesterday, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club tend to book really quick. I like any of these resorts because they are in walking distance to MGM Studios and Epcot. It is sometimes faster to walk to MGM than taking the boat. The best thing to do is plan ahead, know who you want to see and at what time. Saturday is lot busier than Sunday. If you have any more questions let me know, I've been to all Super Soap Weekends.

Have fun and enjoy!
Jackie

Thanks,Jackie :flower: I can't wait until the stars are announced,so I can plan who I want to see. I'm still wondering about how the FastPass works lol,but other than that,I think I'm good (for now) ;)

To find out about the fastpass system go to abc.com, and then type in supersoap weekend in the search box. You will see "search results", click on the supersoap weekend link. From there you will see "tip sheet" up in the left hand corner. That will explain everything in detail. The info is for last year, hopefully this years info will be on the site soon.

You need park tickets to get into MGM. But this can be purchased even on the day of. I usually buy mine ahead of time but that's only because I like to be extra prepared.

For Fastpasses there is no purchase required other than your entrance into MGM. Once you enter MGM you wait on line for a fastpass to see the star you are interested in. The if you want to see another star you have to go to the back of the line and wait again. It's one fastpass per person at a time. I bring my mom with me and she and I each get a fastpass. Then we get on the back of the line and wait again to each get a second fast pass. Keep in mind the most popular stars run out first. They only allot for so many fastpasses for each star. So you should pick the more popular person first then wait for a less popular person the second time around. Each star usually has 2 sessions per day. But the fastpasses are only given out each morning for that day's events. So for the star sessions on Saturday you get your passes on Saturday morning. For the star sessions on Sunday you get your passess on Sunday morning.

I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for helping me out :lovestruc I think I may actually understand how the FastPass works now lol!
