Alright we already booked the supershuttle and need some information.
Where do we go after we grab our bags? Do we just go outside and wait for a blue van or do we have to meet up somewhere? We are arriving at LAX at about 9:30am on a Tuesday. Do they put people together going in the same direction or could my family end up driving somewhere crazy with strangers?
Anyone done this?

We took supper shuttle from LAX to DGC last year. The van was marked Disneyland express, there was one fellow waiting who was not going to DL but claimed he lived near by, he badgered the dispatcher until he let him go on the "express" van. We then circled the airport twice, which I found annoying, you may not have this as you may be boarding at the end of the cycle and not the beginning as we did. The fellow's apartment complex turned out not to be next to DLR but it was not too far either. After some thought I decided this is not how I like to spend my time so we booked a private van with super shuttle, it is costing an addition $50 for the three of us but I decided it was well worth it. (I need the accessible lift van so I opted for Super shuttle instead of a car service).

Outside of the baggage area are "islands" where you wait for the shuttles. On the islands you wait under the orange sign labeled "Shared Ride Vans". There's a curbside coordinator there who will help you. I've used Super Shuttle at various airports and it's a very easy process!

They also send drivers in a specific region, so you won't go to Anaheim via Burbank. For anyone not familiar with LA, that's the WRONG direction. :lmao:

You might have to make several stops but it shouldn't be an unreasonable delay. FWIW, Disneyland is a pretty dedicated destination so it's almost certain the other passengers will be staying w/in a mile or so of your hotel. And because people travel in groups, you might have two other stops besides your own, so that's not so bad either. :)

Thank you so much. Great map. Great information.

We found going from LAX to the hotel not bad - but coming back from the hotel to LAX was a nightmare!! We had to drive WAAAAAAY out of the way to pick up people from residential areas. Not fun and added a lot of time to the trip.

How early would you leave for a plane ride home?
Also do we have to call supershuttle for our ride back to the airport or do they have specific times to pick up?

Use THEIR guidelines. Don't fudge the times. Be generous, too. You should arrange for the ride back, and then you'll want to be at the hotel where they pick you up WELL in advance. I wanted extra time to get my stuff together once, and got back to the Carousel an hour before my ridetime...they got there something like 40 minutes early.

Another time, I was the first in the van (got on at HoJo), and then we spent an HOUR wandering around Katella and Harbor, picking up many many people from many different hotels. An hour later we went back to HoJo, picked up the last people, and THEN we hit the road for LAX. We got to LAX right on time, based on *their* timeframe. If I'd fudged it, it might have worked out differently for me.

Great map, KittySkyfish!! If we're doing a private van with Super Shuttle, do we still wait in the Orange "Shared Ride Vans" zone?

I have just booked their Honda Odyessy for my Oct/11 solo trip and can supply some info regarding this. They send you an email with an e-receipt. They give you a phone number to call when you have picked up your luggage, and you make arrangements for them to pick you up from that point. I've been told that you can contact one of their reps at the airport to make the call, or call the number from a pay phone. Give them a rough time that you think that you will have your luggage, and give your some leway. I would rather over estimate the time needed to disembark the plane and wait a few minutes, then to have my flight arrive late and try to play catch up. As to where you pickup the van I think that once you have made the call, then they dispatch the vehicle to pick you up. Hope that this helps you out.

I have used SuperShuttle several times. I have found the worst to be going back to the airport. I have had some of the same experiences as other PP's. On my last trip to DL a week ago, I had scheduled a pickup time way ahead of time. We went to several hotels to pick up other people, and then back to my hotel to pick up someone else. The driver waited over 30 minutes for the last passengers. Fortunately, they came out about 15 minutes prior to their scheduled pickup time. My flight was at 1:00 at LAX, and we were still out my hotel at 11:10 a.m.:headache: One (1) of the passengers was leaving out of Long Beach airport. So we had to take her to the airport, and then to LAX. The only saving grace was my side of the airport was not as busy, and traffic was okay. I was able to make it on time. I think I will use alternate transportation on my next trip. I really don't like their system anymore at least at LAX. I have not had problems with them in other states.

How far in advance should I reserve Super Shuttle. We are not going till July 2011. We are also flying into SNA and not LAX.

Thanks for the information and online seems to require payment when I book it too. I was messing around with prices.

You could book a week or so in advance and be fine. Flying in and out of SNA is a breeze compared to LAX. I used a code from the entertainment book and it was only 12 bucks or round trip for the shuttle. No problems or issues at all. SNA is tiny and easy to get through security and to find gates and such.

Thank you very much.

I knew when we flew out of Orlando and DH nearly had a meltdown, we could not fly in and out out LAX;)

HA HA HA I nearly had a meltdown in MCO too. Their security organization is terrible! SNA is great!!! There isn't anything to do in the airport though so get there too early or you'll be bored to tears,

:lmao:we fly from the corn fields...I know what boring airports are. We like flying into Sanford too for WDW...that is actually bigger than our airport here.:laughing:We are going to Midway to fly SW into SNA because getting out of here to DL is a real trick. That might put DH over the edge as it is!!

He better get use to it though....DD is going to school in the Windy City next year. Our lives with no traffic are OVER!!

Thanks for your help. I'm still so fired up about our room at GCV that I can't hardly stand it. AWESOME CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!
