Hi

Just wondering where the nearest supermarket to SSR is, that we can get to either walking or with a taxi (we wont have a car). Just to pick up some drinks, bread, alcohol etc (necessities  )

Thanks

Well, some people have talked about walking to Goodings... way too far for me... especially with bags.

The closest is Goodings at the intersection of Hotel Plaza Blvd. & 535. Buyer beware... $$$

Then there is Winn Dixie. If you make a left onto 535 from HPBlvd., go down 2-3 lights on right. We have been shopping here.

There is a Publix too. Make a right on HPBlvd, go under the I-4 overpass & make a left onto Vineland Rd. Follow around past the outlets. We are going to be trying here next trip.

If you call a taxi I would expect them to know where to go.

For just a few things and a cab ride, I'd go to Winn-Dixie, mentioned above. It's a couple blocks further but Goodings is SO expensive and a block back in the shopping center anyway.

OTOH, if you're only getting a couple things, why not skip the cab ride and just buy at the inflated Disney prices?

For Beer soda milk and such there is a Hess station across from the pleasure island bus stop (it is directly across from the bus entrance exit) they are a lot cheaper for most things but I am not sure if they have bread I knwo they do not have bagles etc.

Been to way to many Qwik-Stop type places in my time and can not recall ever seeing one that did not carry bread.

Does Disney have a good range of things? That would probably suit us fine then. I just assumed they wouldnt have many items. What about alcohol - beer, wine & spirits?

If you want liquor, then I would take the cab ride to Winn Dixie. You can pick up your groceries and there is an ABC Liquor store (Very reasonable) in the same strip. The gift shops do have a nice grocery selection, and you can pretty much add $1 to most regular priced grocery items and have a good estimate of costs, but their liquor prices are obscene!

:thumbsup2 for hess would do the beer run in a 15min walk each way from congress park:rotfl2: they have beer, sodas bread, milk and krispie kream dounuts ect.Prices comparable to supermarkts. The one at the entrance to the boardwalk has a bigger selection if your staying there and thats an easy walk as well

There are several options just off property. There is a super Walmart on South 535 about 2 miles from Downtown Disney. Just down a bit further where 535 ends at 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) - go left, and there is a Sams club about another 1.50 down the road (on the North) - liquor and beer is ridiculously low - Sams has a separate store out front so you can zip in and out for liquor!! One half gallon of Bacardi is $17.00ish, Kahlua is $18, one half gallon of Smirnoff is $18ish, Sky half gallon $22. In Michigan a lot of our 1/5's are at the $20 mark!! Beer is great prices as well - that is inside the big store.

You can take a taxi - if you stock up it would be worth it.

Right by Sams is a super Target (it has groceries like Walmart)
