Oh yes! That is perfectally fine. I'm just impatient, that's all. Please do not feel rushed at all. :goodvibes

Not feeling rushed at all...I don't want you think I'm hoarding him...just getting myself settled back in and then I will be sending him along the way!!!! I know how feels to be all excited about the gnome LOL

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: That sounds wrong on so many different levels!

Remember last week, when I promised not to make any more changes to our trip? Yeah. I broke that promise.

Yesterday we took our car to my Dad's mechanic that he trusts to do the once over on our car to see if we would need any major repairs before we drove to Florida. Mind you, we just had our car inspected on Thursday and it passed with flying colors. Well, not so much my Dad's mechanic says, our tires were so bad that he told my Dad that if I was his daughter he would not let me drive on them to get back home to Massachusetts. (Parents live a little over an hour away from us in Maine.) My parents, the best parents a gal could wish for, lend us the money to get them fixed until our tax refund arrives (expected delivery this week). When my Dad calls about the car, my mom, Marc and myself are shopping for some new furnishings for our apartment. We need a dining table, we don't have one in our current apartment since it's so small and we are so looking forward to eating dinner not in front of the tv like we do here. :rotfl: So we are pricing out everything, Dad calls and drops the tire bombshell and I start to freak out. Of course being the emotional mess I am, I get teary eyed and get very upset. I basically figure in order to get any necessary things for our new apartment, pay for car repairs and have a little cushion in our savings account we will have to cancel Disney. :scared1: This does not make me happy and I am pretty down in the dumps but I am trying very hard to be financially responsible and smart about money.

Sigh.

After we finish out our day with my parents and we are heading home, Marc tells me under no circumstances will I miss the Disney Trip. I spout off the reasons for canceling and how it makes sense. Marc says, "You can do a solo trip and I'll stay home, with the money we've already paid the trip will almost be paid for." :faint: My first reaction is NO WAY. I am looking forward to our romantical dinners, our nightly swims, just enjoying a splendid vacation with my husband. Marc continues to tell me that he knows I am looking forward to this trip and that we can still afford for me to go and that though he loves Disney and would love to go with me, right now it's important for me to go that I have been working so hard to make this trip happen. He also says, "I know you want a solo trip and I know we have been planning for you to go over your Birthday in September but if you give your September trip up, you can go for a full week for what we would have paid in September." He also points out that we are planning to go in April 2010 for Gnomefest and that he is looking forward to that.

Being the good wife I am, I ask Marc if there is anything he would like to do or get if I take a solo trip so that we each have something we want. I have a pretty good idea what this will be of course. He says he wants a flat screen tv. That as long as we start saving for it when I get back from Disney and he knows he'll get one, he is good. I love my husband. :lovestruc After more talking, discussing, pricing we have decided that I will indeed be going solo to Disney.

So there have been changes. I will be going from May 22nd - May 29th, staying for 7 nights at All Star Music Resort. I have added the park hopper to my ticket. I won't be doing a dining plan. I priced out the TS and the new Quick Service plan and just don't think it's worth it. I think I will do a few TS meals, which I am still mulling over but I think the QS plan would be too restricting. If I want to eat Figaro Fries for lunch and nothing else so be it. I don't want to be restricted or ordering things I don't want to eat. I also will not be driving down. There is no way I want to do a 24 hour drive myself. :crazy2: I think I will be flying out of Manchester on Southwest. I asked the CM this morning when I made all the changes and she said that Southwest does participate in the luggage transfers, they just don't participate in early check in. Which means I would have to check in at the airport, I think I can live with that. I am not sure how much luggage I will be bringing, I don't know if I could just get away with a carry on or not. We'll have to see.

I'm a little sad about these changes because I know I will miss Marc. I really appreciate how he is willing to make this sacrifice for me and he keeps telling me not to feel guilty or selfish because he's getting something out of the deal so I am not going too. I'm also excited. I think doing a solo trip for myself is going to be a great experience for me. I have never traveled by myself so I think this is going to be good for me.

Any of you who have taken solo trips and have advice for me, please share it. I would love to hear your experiences or tips! :goodvibes

117 Days! pixiedust:

Such ginormous changes!!! I think you will have a great time, but I know you will miss Marc. However, my wheels are already spinning and I have come up with a silver lining for us DISboarders. Marc can keep us posted on what you are doing now that he is on. I think that will be awesome!!! ::yes::

The drama of trip planning! My goodness! Sorry about the tires. That stinks. I tell you what, I already thought Marc sounded like a great guy and amazing husband... now I think it one hundred times more!!!! How nice and generous and thoughtful of him. :goodvibes

Oh! I like CP's silver lining! GusGus will have to commit to giving us "live updates."

I'll have to think about some solo tips for you. I think you'll love it. Of course you'll miss Marc but you'll have fun. Maybe an opportunity to really focus (pardon the pun) on the photography?

That is a great idea, CP! I will have to ask him to do that when he wakes up. Hehehe.

He really is a great guy and I am so very lucky. :goodvibes I think I can convince him to commit to the live updates.

I am already thinking I need more memory cards because I can't imagine how many light pictures I will be taking. :rotfl2: Focusing on the photography is one of the things I am most excited about with this trip.

Are there any table service places that you felt uncomfortable dining at alone? I think that's my biggest fear right now. I want to go to a few but I don't want to feel weird. :confused3

WOW LL!!! :crowded: Those are HUGE changes in your trip!!!!! I'm sorry that you're dealing with these cars issues and sort....but glad to see there is a trip still being planned, what a bummer that Marc won't be going with you. :sad1: But what an awesome DH you have to still want you to go yourself!!!:p Check out airfare through Delta direct.....I bought air this week for my trip in September out of Logan and it was $176/RT nonstop flight. It wasn't cheaper for me to go through AAA, Travelocity or Expedia....check it out, it's worth a try! Looking forward to hearing the new solo plans!!!!

I'm a huge fan of solo LOL!! So much so I'm thinking on my birthday trip of going down a day or two early just so I can have some solo time and hit up a few places. You will have a great time and you will really enjoy playing around with your camera and taking gorgeous pics. I'm going to actually take a class this summer I think and really get out and use my camera and all its setting so I'm really ready for my next trips.

Just think you'll be able to do what you want when you want to and just enjoy your time!! You will actually be able to stop and smell the flowers and you will have experiences you'll never forget

Besides, You won't be alone LL...you'll have Nobby!!! Let me tell you, he takes the awkwardness out of any experience! I set him out at all the restaurants and its like he drew the masses LOL, so I never really alone when dining!! Besides he's a cute table date LOL!!!

I think character dinners were the most awkward for me by far and I think next time I would limit how many of those I did, however overall nothing beats it!! You will miss Marc, but you will also enjoy every minute of "your" trip to Disney! And yes GusGus will need to give us live updates!

My tips...use those single rider lines whenever possible and make the most of your photopass pictures....they are great (however you probably already knew all of these LOL) I'll try to think of more along the way LOL

Are there any table service places that you felt uncomfortable dining at alone? I think that's my biggest fear right now. I want to go to a few but I don't want to feel weird. :confused3

The only one I felt uncomfortable in was Tutto Italia... only b/c the tables were practically on top of eachother. I could easily have eaten off the plates of the couple next to me and the family on the other side! :crazy2:

I felt most comfortable in Brown Derby.

I also took along the following list posted by TDC Nala on another thread about the TS restaurants where you can eat at the bar.

Here is my list.
California Grill lounge – full menu available
Tune In Lounge (adjacent to Prime Time Café) – full menu available
Jiko – full menu at bar
Raglan Road – full menu at bar
Gurgling Suitcase – full Olivia’s menu available at bar
Rainforest Café – full menu at bar
Yak & Yeti – full menu at bar
Citricos – Full menu is available at counter/bar seating inside restaurant. I believe, but am not sure, that you can order Citricos dishes from Mizners lounge.
Rose & Crown – pub menu (cheese and fish & chips available at the bar)
Flying Fish – full menu at counter seating

Turf Club – appetizer menu at bar
Tambu Lounge – appetizer menu at bar (selections from Kona)
Territory Lounge – appetizer menu at bar
Martha’s Vineyard Lounge – appetizer menu at bar
Rix Lounge – appetizer menu at bar

Crockett’s Tavern – food available
River Roost – appetizer menu at bar
Crew’s Cup Lounge – appetizer menu at bar
The Wave - appetizer menu at bar

Wow- that is a big change.

I can totally see you are a glass is half full person though as you have completely moved on to all the benefits of a solo trip.

I'm sure you can find some other diser's to meet up with if you start looking around.

Maybe you'd like to take one of the tours?

OMG! LL! Wow! Honey, that is so sweet of Marc to be so determined that you go! I think you will love it. And he is always just a phone call away so neveer forget your cell phone for those moments you miss him!

I'm so proud to be a Marcette right now :lovestruc

BIG changes but it will be so fun! What an adventure!

Wow, that is a big change! But you will have a great time no matter what and atleast you still get to go to Disney!

I'm sorry your changes mean you'll be missing Marc for a week, but I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! Although, I think the price difference between 1 adult & 2 adults for the week is only $250, basically the price of the ticket.

Can't wait to here more!

Oh my goodness, what an update!

First of all, I'm sorry to head about your car.:scared:

And second, what a great testament to the wonderful family you have! Even though you'll miss him, that is so sweet of Marc to encourage you to go solo.:goodvibes Wow, that PLUS Disney on Ice for Valentine's Day... he's a keeper!:rotfl:

I've never been on a solo trip, but I would actually love to. Being able to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted for a whole week at Disney is my basically my dream!;) Can't wait to hear about the planning changes now that your trip has changed so much!

Wow...what a keeper Gus Gus is!!! You need to head over to the DIS meet thread and find some other solo travelers to meet up with!!! I have to say....this PTR keeps you on your toes!

Wow, what changes! I'm sorry to hear about your car, I would have freaked out if I was in your position. That's SO nice that your parents lent you the money to get the tires fixed.

I think it's so sweet that Marc encouraged you to take the solo trip. I'm so glad that you still get to go, even if you can't have your hubby there. I, too, hope that he will do the live reports for you. ;)

I just have to say that after reading all of your generous, supportive posts I became a little teary eyed. Thank you so much for being such a great group of friends. :goodvibes

Yes, please convince Marc -- tell him that your adoring fans need day-by-day quick updates as to how you are doing. :goodvibes
I will do my very best. :thumbsup2

He is an awesome husband. Delta is about $100 more than Southwest for the times I want. Marc would rather drive to Manchester, he hates driving in Boston so he's rooting for Southwest. :rotfl:

I'm a huge fan of solo LOL!! So much so I'm thinking on my birthday trip of going down a day or two early just so I can have some solo time and hit up a few places. I love your enthusiasm for solo trips, it's really making me feel good about mine! You are a doll. So the CM's didn't give you weird looks with Nobby sitting out on the table with you? Perhaps I should make him a Disney bib, is he a messy eater?

The only one I felt uncomfortable in was Tutto Italia... only b/c the tables were practically on top of eachother. I could easily have eaten off the plates of the couple next to me and the family on the other side! :crazy2:

I also took along the following list posted by TDC Nala on another thread about the TS restaurants where you can eat at the bar.
That is a great list! Thanks! I am so going to print it out and bring it with me to have. I was going to save Brown Derby for next time with Marc but I thought it would be comfortable to eat there and now you are confirming that so I just might have too.

Wow- that is a big change.

I can totally see you are a glass is half full person though as you have completely moved on to all the benefits of a solo trip.

I'm sure you can find some other diser's to meet up with if you start looking around.

Maybe you'd like to take one of the tours?
I really am looking forward to the solo benefits. Now if May would just get here! I know that Marc and I will be going together many, many times in the future so it just makes sense to take advantage of a solo trip. I'm thinking of doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour but I am not sure yet.

OMG! LL!

He is very, very sweet. I am a lucky gal. I will make sure that I have my cell phone on me at all times. :thumbsup2

Wow, that is a big change! But you will have a great time no matter what and atleast you still get to go to Disney!
That's right, I am so happy that I still get to go.

I'm sorry your changes mean you'll be missing Marc for a week, but I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! Although, I think the price difference between 1 adult & 2 adults for the week is only $250, basically the price of the ticket.

We saved quite a bit of money when we made the package just for me, no park tickets, no dining. It was quite the chunk of change! Marc started drooling over flat screens today.

My car will be fine. Just expensive that's all! Isn't it a nice dream? I got out a little notebook today and I am going to write down all those things I read here on the DIS so I can hunt down fun stuff while I am there.

Wow...what a keeper Gus Gus is!!! You need to head over to the DIS meet thread and find some other solo travelers to meet up with!!! I have to say....this PTR keeps you on your toes!
He really is a keeper! Doesn't it keep you on your toes? I feel guilty for all the changes but I think that is half the fun of Disney. Next time I do a PTR, I am going to put a "Everything will change, be prepared." :lmao:

Wow, what changes! I'm sorry to hear about your car, I would have freaked out if I was in your position. That's SO nice that your parents lent you the money to get the tires fixed.

I think it's so sweet that Marc encouraged you to take the solo trip. I'm so glad that you still get to go, even if you can't have your hubby there. I, too, hope that he will do the live reports for you. ;)
My parents are awesome. I think I can convince him to do the live reports.

Sorry for all the drama with the cars. Marc sounds like my Dh-we have a 50 inch flat screen:happytv:
I think a solo trip would be great! So fun. We will be at MK on the 23rd of May and Epcot on the 24th until lunch if you get lonely :) Happy planning!
