Joining in!! You are going during my favorite time of year! There is NOTHING more magical than Christmas time in Disney!! I also LOVE Chili's (although there isn't one anywhere close to me!) and we're the same age! :) Totally have the "DDP or no DDP" conversation darn near DAILY with my husband.

Love all your movie night stuff! I should do things like that, but my youngest doesn't sit through a whole movie… We could do the meal though and let my oldest watch the movie! :scratchin The Dumbo decorations are ADORABLE!!!!!!

:welcome:

I am so happy to have you join! I am super excited about seeing my favorite place in the whole world during my favorite time of the year lol! I am sorry that there is not a Chilis close for you to enjoy. We have them all over the place here in the south. My store is one of four within a one hour drive. I have always heard that Chili's was a bigger deal in the south and Applebee's is more popular in the north. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one stressing over the DDP issue. Honestly we are probably going to just bite the bullet and pay for it this time :scared:

Disney Movie Nights are so much fun! I see now why so many people enjoying doing this in anticipation of their trip.....or just for the fun of it! I will say that we have been setting up the food "buffet" style and eating in the living room while watching the movie and that has really made it easier for EVERYONE to get through the entire movie. The Dumbo streamers took FOREVER to put up (it seemed like a quick and easy task in my head) so I told the family that they were staying up for awhile. I think they lasted about a week or so before I got tired of seeing them in the kitchen :lmao: Again so glad to have you here and I hope I can keep this enjoyable for people to follow....its my first attempt at this TR stuff!

Just wanted to get a quick update in to share that, after stalking the Wishes Party thread for Dec for a while, I was able to snag a ressie for all 6 of us! And....it's a secret. I am telling no one until the night of and since everyone let's me plan everything and goes along without questioning anything I thought it would be a fun surprise! Yay for Disney desserts and Wishes!

YAY Dessert party!!!! :cool1: Totally jealous! I couldn't keep anything a secret, even if I wanted to… I'm one of those that just gets so excited that it comes out! :goodvibes However, I'm REALLY good at keep other's secrets, so your secret is save with me! :lmao:

I bet the streamers did take a while. I did a little decorating for the first day of school, and those streamers were up WAY longer than I envisioned… ;)

Our closest is about an hour north or east… We live in the middle of the cornfields. When I lived in GA and MS they did seem to be everywhere. My favorite is the Cajun chicken pasta or the Chicken Crispers (But with the awesome blossom batter, not the standard!).

Time will tell if I can keep it a secret from everyone....I usually am not too good at keeping them too long either lol!

I lurve the Cajun Chicken Pasta...definite nom nom! Since I work Mon-Fri during the day (while the kiddos are in school) its so hard sometimes to not just bring home Chilis for dinner like EVERY night....especially since I get 50% off! It's a constant battle:sad2:

Disney Movie Night #6

:snail: A Bug's Life :snail:

My mother-in-law seems to really like doing the decor and I really enjoy making the food so that seems to be the pattern we keep taking. It's really hard for me to share sometimes because I want to have control over everything and do it all myself.....so I am proud of myself for playing well with others :rotfl:. Plus I really think she is doing an awesome job with the theme decorating too:thumbsup2.

We tried to go for a picnic type theme with this one and naming some of the food seemed to be a real stretch....oh well have a good laugh if you must....

My in laws are leaving in a few days for a mission trip to Belize for two weeks so they will be missing the next two movie nights so I will have to rearrange my list to make sure they do not miss important ones. So as of now I am not sure what the next one will be.....:scratchin

I love your bugs life meal! How fun!!! I'm sure that was hard! I think you did a great job! :thumbsup2

I'm SURE it's impossible! I'd be bringing stuff home all the time! Especially the Chili Con Queso… MAN! I'm wanting to make the trek now! Thanks a lot!

YAY!! and :welcome: Thank you for the compliments! We are really having so much fun with them and it is making our countdown seem to go by so much faster:thumbsup2
I just noticed you ticker and it looks like you guys are going to be there just before us!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to pop in with a little update. First of all we are now officially at the 45 day mark!!! Yay! We decided to add a Mickey Chain to our countdown calender because, well let's face it, you can never have to many ways to countdown to Disney World right?!

Also when I got home with the kiddos guess what surprise was patiently waiting in our mailbox.......

That's right....MICKEY'S MAGICAL EXPRESS......Jingle BAM!!!! I love mickey mail sooo much :dance3:

We also have officially customized our magic bands and are excited to be participating with that. I have just about finished tweeking our plans with our fastpass+ selections and hope to maybe tell you guys a little about all of that soon.

I am really trying to schedule a movie night for this week, but things have really started to get busy around here and my DH has been working A LOT of extra hours lately and trying to get a new person trained before we leave for our trip....so that we can go on our trip and not have his phone blowing up with work the whole time:headache:

Today was also the day that I sent the kids to school with letters to all of their teachers letting them know when we were going and that they would be missing six days of school. I have really been dreading this and how the school would react which is crazy considering that the first trip we took in May 2011 Cory was in third grade and he missed almost two weeks of school and the teacher did not even bat an eye....and I never, even for one second, stressed out about his missing so many days. For some reason this time around I have been freaking out a bit and reading all of these horror stories on the disboards about truancy and teachers giving kids zeros for missed days and assignments . So far so good however and DD's 2nd grade teacher only asks that she continue with daily reading, which is no prob cause Syd loves to read, and also asked that she keep a daily journal while she is away so that she can share when we get back....she is super excited about writing her own little TR now lol. Haven't heard from DS's teachers yet and since he is in middle school now I am a little apprehensive about their reactions and also the amount of work Cory will need to do to stay caught up. We shall see.....

So anyways I like being busy and it makes the time go by faster but sometimes I just feel like I can't breathe. I need for Disney to get here fast!!!

wow, you are on top of things. You have 2 countdowns and I just went to the store yesterday and got posterboard for 1 countdown! ha! 30 days for us this year.

I haven't sent in my note to DSs school yet either. He's only in 1st grade though so I'm not too worried. I also know MANY kids from our school system take off for vacations so ours should be fine.

We did our FP+ picks and I'm constantly changing them. This is worse than ADRs! But I think I love it. It was nice to know that didn't have to be at DHS at rope drop because I already booked FP+ for 3:00 for TSM! WooHoo!

lol in my defense my DD was bored one day and I asked her if she wanted to make a Mickey Chain to cure her boredom. I also realize the drawback from making a countdown calender like a year in advance is when you get to like two months away the kids no longer have an interest in changing the days on it and suddenly mom is the only one making sure the dates change....now that we have the chain it has sparked their interest again. I am so jealous that you only have like 30 days left...sigh will December ever get here!

That must be reassuring that you know of others taking vacations during the school year. The only reason I went ahead was because a few of my DS teachers have events for the kids coming up around the holidays and one of them Cory is going to be missing and kind of let the cat out of the bag about not being there so the teacher asked him to tell me to let her know the dates and stuff.....so no more procrastinating for me.

Oh my goodness I could not agree more! I am having the same trouble constantly changing these, and on top of that now trying to change ADR's to fit in with the ride times...ugh. It is cool though to be able to schedule rides that you normally do not get to do later in the day. I am super stoked about getting to ride Peter Pan at night time instead of early moring...whoohoo! I am really having a hard time with scheduling MK fastpass+ though because there are so many rides to choose from and when to ride them, whereas AK its the same everytime...safari.....dinosaur....everest...lol.

An October Update
Hello everyone sorry that I have been MIA for awhile but the end of October is a super busy time for us! Our DS turned 12, which I am still trying to get used to, and also good ole' Halloween too. Birthdays are getting trickier for us with Cory because of his age and the fact that he is a boy. The traditional birthday party has been out of the question for the past few years and so we really have to try to come up with something that is age appropriate for him. This year we all decided to let Cory have a few of his friends over for a sleepover (is that what boys call it, I'm not quite sure). We ordered pizza and watched scary (age appropriate) movies and also had a campfire in the back yard for the boys to makes smores.

DS had a great birthday! The following day was his actual birthday and so we had family over this day to celebrate. Every year we let the kids pick out what type of "cake" they want to have. And every year its the same for our DS......cookie cake :confused3.

After eating our fill of chocolate chip it was present opening time! This has also started to be a challenge with our now 12 year old because he seems to be at this in between age where toys and stuff are of no interest but he is not quite a teen yet either. He got the typical video games, legos, books ect. but we really had to think for that "big gift". So when in doubt.....

why not get you child a weapon? The good thing is that its a kid friendly version and the arrows have a blunt tip. But I have to be honest the whole time the scene from A Christmas Story was playing in my head when Ralph got his bb gun :rotfl:. Either way the "birthday weapon" was a huge hit with our DS and he wants to go outside everyday after school and shoot things. I should mention that we live on a dead end street surrounded by woods so that helps when one is wanting to shoot arrows in the backyard:thumbsup2.

Anyways so a few days after the birthday bash Halloween was here. We had our traditional pumpkin carving with the kids. Each year they get to decide what they want the pumpkin to look like, and so this year the theme was a pumpkin eating a stick man......only my children.

and now for a close up of the stick man.....

yup that's it lol!

We then had the partaking of the trick or treating.....
Sydney wanted to be a lalaloopsy this year but I really was not impressed with the costume they make for that character so we got some things together and made our own version of the doll

Cory was a skeleton but he wanted a mask to go with his costume. Philip and I discussed just painting his face as a last resort but thought it would be a lot easier if we found a mask....but we have a rule on guts, blood, and gore so it made it not so easy to find a mask. Then my DS and DH found what would be the creepiest mask I think I have ever seen in my life. Seriously people I don't know why but this thing really gave me the creeps...

See what I mean? :scared1: Seriously I hated this thing....and unfortunately it did not make it home with us after trick or treating....I don't know what could have possibly happened to it...:sad2:

So we had a really fun time this year with Halloween and since my sister lives like two streets over from us we got to go trick or treating with her family too and that was really neat. Her and her husband have four year old boy/girl twins and their son was Peter Pan this year :cloud9: but the whole night people kept telling him how much they liked his Robin Hood costume lol. Finally he just starting saying "Trick or treat, I'm Peter Pan" and it became the quote for the evening. He was super cute too...

So now with Halloween over it is officially November which means turkey and only one month to go until our holiday Disney trip and I am so freaking excited you guys!!! I also have a Disney Movie Night that we did this weekend to post that went with the Halloween theme......

Disney Movie Night #8
:sulley:Monsters Inc.:sulley:

So with sticking to the Halloween theme I thought this would be the perfect time to do this movie. Here we go.....

We thought it would be cool to throw some dry ice element into the mix this time too, you know, to make it look creepy....

It was really fun to play with in the sink too lol!

So with only one month left until we go I have 3 movies planned. We will be having one this Thursday and I will try to have it posted as soon as I can. I hope everyone had a great Halloween!!!!

Disney Movie Night #9

popcorn::The Little Mermaid popcorn::

"I don't know when, I don't know how, but I know something's starting right now....." I LOVE this movie so much!!!!

Only two more movie nights left until our trip which is 28 days away....and this evening I received an email from UPS saying that I have a delivery scheduled for tomorrow morning....could it be magic bands? I really think so! Have a magical evening everyone!!! :)

Sorry to take so long to update but......

THEY'RE HERE!!!!!!

Okay so I am excited to finally see these cute little things up close, and I am trying to really keep an open mind about this whole magic band/fastpass+ thing. I heard today that they are in two days no longer giving guests at pop regular fastpass privileges and so its really only a matter of time for AKL. Either way I am sure everything will be fine and we are going to have a BLAST! Did I mention that we only have 3 weekends left until we leave?! I have a combination of vacation goosies and frantic WAIT I haven't even started packing YET freakouts so.....yeah I'm a mess right now :rotfl:

We still have 2 Disney Movie Nights to try and get in, 3 family Thanksgiving Dinners starting this weekend, Christmas decorations to get out, and Christmas shopping! SuPeRcAlIfRaGiLiStIcExPiAlIdOcIous! :upsidedow

Well.....at least the time should go by quickly.....

Disney Movie Night #10

:darth: Star Wars :yoda:

So I know that Star Wars is not your "typical" Disney Movie but the inlaws had yet to see even one of these movies and we needed to right that wrong ::yes::

Plus I think that DH and DS had their share of Disney Princess Movies and wanted to watch something a little more ummm not so girly...

So here it is Star Wars Dinner Movie Night.....

Disney Movie Night #11

popcorn:: Beauty and the Beast popcorn::

So this is to be our last Disney Movie Night due to the fact that....well......

WE LEAVE IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!! :yay:

It was a good one to go out with and I am so glad that we decided to do these movie nights. They have been so much fun and I was also glad to get to share them with you guys here on the disboards too! So without further ado....

Tale as old as time........

I have to be honest I cheated a little by picking the chicken up from KFC lol but the gray stuff was really fun to make and very yummy too. I am excited to hopefully get the chance to try the real version in a few weeks when we are in DISNEY WORLD!!! :dance3: Sorry I'm a little excited ;)

So that is it for Disney Movie Nights for this PTR. We are getting together one last time next week before Thanksgiving to watch our last two trip home movies. If I can find a way to upload them I might post them to this PTR, but you tube does not like my videos too much because most of the video has music in the background so :rolleyes1....we'll see what happens with that!

Have a magical evening!!! :upsidedow
